A blunette man sat quietly on a couch staring off into space with his blue eyes. On his lap was a familier kappa doll and on his wrist was a just as familier braclet of red beads. He wore a light blue yukata and a scarf even though it wasn't winter anymore.
He opened his mouth and breathed out a silent sentence, seemingly waiting for something or someone.

Kanda was passing, on his way to get some soba noodles, when he noticed the man sitting there staring into space. He paused and noted something familiar about the man- not just the Kappa and the bracelet, but the man's physical features. He frowned and stood in front of the him and spoke.
"Who are you? What are you doing just sitting here?" he asked skeptically, never having seen the man around before.

The man blinked and looked up at Kanda, a bit startled. "Ah-"
He smiled warmly, "My name is Rei, and as for why i'm sitting here..." he looked towards the door before looking back at Kanda, smile still pleasently in place. "I'm waiting for a certain someone."

Kanda stiffened at the answer, as it didn't really explain anything. He rested one hand on the hilt of Mugen and continued to stare at the man.
"Are you authorized to be here? You're not an Exorcist."

His smile turned into a fond one, "She really is a sweet girl, my little Yuuka."

Kanda's eyes widened slightly at the name, but he showed no more understanding than that.

Rei's eyes widened slightly before he looked down at the doll on his lap.
"A shame, here I was hoping I could see her again." He looked back towards the door, smile coming back.
"She looks a lot like her mother you know? Almost a perfect copy, it's quite sad she died not long after the delivery. Perhaps...things would have worked out differently then.." His smile faded, "Your name is Yu Kanda correct?"
