"And they were all... foxes? Why was he chasing you?" She tilted her head a bit, looking between the two questioningly. Kiah tried to suppress the smirk on her face at their banter, wondering if that's what her and Kyle sound like when they have a disagreement. "It seems childhood friends are popping up a lot these days..." she laughed, finding it a bit ironic.

"Oh, no, Yokai come in a lot of variety!" said Itazura. It didn't look like Kiah was aware of what Yokai exactly were, but he didn't mind explaining it to her. "And hey! I'm not a fox! I'm a Kitsune. Big difference."
"Right...so, Ita's dad and I...didn't start off on the right foot.." Mizaka grimaced a little as she recalled that night. "After Gramps kicked me out of the house when I was seven, I had no choice but to scavage for food in the forest. Knowing that it was crawling with dangerous Yokai, I took a baseball bat from our shed, the only item that was close to a weapon, and went on my way. It wasn't long before I came face to face with Itazura's father. I had unknowingly walked into Kitsune territory, and they didn't take kindly to intruders. So after trying to run away from him, he had managed to corner me. Not knowing what else to do, I took my bat and smashed it on his head, knocking him out instantly."
Itazura let out a snort as he tried to stifle his laughter.

"A Kitsune, huh?" Had any of this information been getting through her head while she wasn't hungover, Kiah might not have been so confused. She decided to try and process it later, after she'd had a good night's sleep, and continued to listen to their story, She tried not to laugh, but ended up doing so anyway, feeling bad for Itazura's father. "He was alright, though, right?"

"It'll take more than that to hurt my old man!" said Itazura proudly. "Though he did have a large bump on his noggin that lated for days..."
"Again, not my fault. Self-defense. Anyway...after getting away from that frightening experience, I found an old abandoned burrow which I spent the night in. I didn't find any food, so I went to sleep hungry. When I woke up the next morning, I peeked out of the burrow and, to my surprise, found a pile of berries and fruit in front of me. I looked up and saw a little fox kit peeking at me from the bushes."
"That was me!" said Itazura, stating the obvious. "My dad was the most feared creature in the forest, and I thought it was totally awesome that a human girl had managed to knock him out with just one hit! So I got up extra early in the morning and brought her some food!"

"Haha, so you guys became friends because Mizaka rendered your father unconscious? That is one of the best things I've ever heard," she laughed, turning to the fox. "And that was very kind of you to do in the first place."
Looking at the clock, Kiah got up with a stretch, looking forward to sleeping off her headache. "Well, it was nice meeting you Itazura, but it's time for me to get some sleep. I'll see you two later, I'm sure!" With that she grabbed her work and headed out the door.

Itazura grinned at Kiah's comment.
"See, even she thinks it's funny! And thanks! I couldn't really leave a hungry girl alone in the forest, couldn't I?" Mizaka and Itazura said farewell to Kiah as she gathered her stuff and left the room.
"We should be getting some sleep as well. Come on, I'll introduce you to my other friends."
