On the bridge of the airship, a little bottle of scotch from one of the room minibars in hand, and the radio turned to a polka station, James Black did a half-drunk rain dance...
PostPosted: Wed Mar 08, 2006 9:16 pm

Allen cursed under his breath as the rain began to hit him, the effects on the undead becoming obvious. Though it wasn't anything to do with the undead that made him annoyed. It was the fact that the rain was soaking him. Admittedly his black trenchcoat was keeping most of his dry, even as it billowed out behind his bike, but his long black bangs were getting plastered over his eyes now, making it hard to see.

Still, with the rain weakening the undead it only took him a short while longer before the bike sped past Heavy Lifter, to screech at a halt later in front of Joseph. The bike beat up and covered with various zombie bits, Allen himself was mostly untouched, even as he wiped off his katana and reseathed it. And then looked over at Joseph, moving the wet hair out from in front of his eyes.

"Guess I wasn't needed after all, huh?"

And suddenly... admist the thrashing waves of whatever ocean Latent borders...

Fwooosh! A single flame erupts from the sea, appearantly originating from the ocean floor itself! Yeah, that flame totally burned its way through untold gallons of water!

The flame burns brightly, a shining beacon in the night. It begins to move rather rapidly, leaving a trail of fire in its wake. From above, one would see a circle forming.

Uh oh...
PostPosted: Wed Mar 08, 2006 9:33 pm

Joseph watched in mock awe as the zombies just began to burn into nothing. All he could really do is shake his head, and c**k his shotgun one last time for effect. You had to do that.
The Heavy Lifter simply considered it a job complete.

Hey look, a familiar face! Too bad the game got called on account of rain, team A~E had some good players switch hitting for it. But hell, wasn't over yet.

"Naw, Allen. Good ol' smoke and fire principal." Joseph rested his gun on his shoulder while he turned to the cyclist, "These dissolving pieces of s**t are the smoke. Now we've gotta find the fire before they summon up another batch of goodies."
"My guess." He shrugged, "Is we wait till one of them get pissed at the rain and start blowing s**t up."

The CEO then shot a glare, still potent even through the aviators, at the Shield member.

"Rifles McGee," He pointed with his thumb in the direction of the gate, "Gather some of your pals and make sure you actually secure the north gate this time. Chances are they'll hit again soon."

Stunned, yet strangely modivated, the shield member ran off.

A...blimp?

The blimp was spraying making holy water rain from the looks of it. Assuming it was holy water after all. Such actions could not be allowed, as it would severely cripple the main armies assault. Meno's crouched low to the ground, bringing his left hand to the side and behind him slightly.

"I am not in the mood for games...."

An air assault...like that would hold. The council had many unusual members within their ranks, and Menos was no exception. In his crouched position, the ground around him began to darken. The earth cracked and Menos looked at the blimp before pushing off the earth torwards it.

A few things to know about Menos. He is very swift, very quick, and can jump very high. He can not fly, merely hover off of objects slightly.

Now the blimp was high up there, without being able to fly, Menos would not be able to reach it, even though his jump was very high. To tell the truth, it would probably only reach about one half to three fourths to the blimp. So how would he make it the rest of the way?

DANADANDADNADNDA SPIIIIDDDEEERRRMMMAAAANNNN!!!

His secondary weapon, his life wires. His life wires served many purposes, but could also be used as a form of vaulting, swinging, or other such things. Menos came out of his jump, spinning. He then flicked his hands torward the blimp, releasing wire like strings that would seek out and attach themselves to the bottom of the blimp. Once this happened, Menos would pull himself torwards the bottom of the blimp.

The flame ceases movement when the circle is complete.

Fwoosh! Fwoosh! Fwoosh! Fwoosh!

One by one a new flame would appear along the newly formed ring of fire.

Fwoosh! Fwoosh! Fwoosh!

There were eight flames in total, each one reaching over fifteen feet into the air! The waters within the circle would blacken, becoming some sort of liquid abyss. Once active waves would become placid, as if it had separated itself from the surrounding ocean.

If Menos had only made it about a third of the way to the blimp, that would still leave him with about six thousand feet, or a vertical mile, to climb on those strings.

In the meantime, the blimp would continue to circle as it was nearing the end of its payload. Only a few tons of salt had been brought onboard the ship, and though the clouds had been saturated with it and would continue to rain for some time now, the salt they had brought was just about to run out.

Meanwhile, a half-drunken James Black continued to jive it up on the bridge... because, honestly, how often does a man get to 'lord it over' an undead horde?

Nodding some, Allen looked a little happier at that. He was already going to get hell when he got home, for putting himself in danger. He might as well get something useful done for it. After all, hell hath no fury like a girl who thinks you're taking too many unnecesary risks.

Glancing up at the airship, though, Allen could only shake his head. In all of his experience, he knew of only one person who could have pulled something like that off.

"James Black's in that blimp most likely. I can't think of anyone else who could have thought something like that up, especially on the spur of the moment. His ideas are going to get him in trouble some day, though."

Then, Allen looked back to Joseph, deciding to get to the matter at hand.

"Anyways, have any ideas who might be behind this? And for that matter, what exactly are you doing in the middle of a warzone?"

The flames converged upon the center of the circle where they would collide. Eight towers of fire became one, each coiling around the other as it rose further into the air.

20 feet, 30 feet, 40... 50!

Now achieving its maximum height, the flame would do something that just wouldn't seem natural (As if its little "dance" in the ocean wasn't surreal enough). The hellish spire would bulge at its center briefly before returning to its normal width. A second would pass, maybe two before the action would repeat itself.

Something was inside of those flames, and it wanted out.

"James Black's in that blimp most likely. I can't think of anyone else who could have thought something like that up, especially on the spur of the moment."

Having a grand ol' time dancing merrily on the bridge of the airship, James emptied the last of that bottle of scotch from the minibar; then suddenly sneezed.

"Damn..." he said, grinning and rubbing his nose as he reflected upon the old japanese superstition, "...I must be popular today."

"Yo, Father!" he called out, waving for one of the deckhands to shut off the radio. James decended the small stairway to the mock balcony that stood near the large wall of windows at the bow of the ship.

"I think that'll do us..." James added, placing a hand upon Father Brinley's shoulder.

Father Brinley lowered his hands, though did not move from where he stood. He could only look out the window at the clouds below them, patiently waiting for the ship to pass a clear patch so that he could see the city below.

"Thank you, son, for giving an old man like me a chance to help..."

"Relax, Father," James replied, sticking his hands into his overcoat pockets and rocking on his toes as he leaned over the rail beside the windows; gazing down. "...why don't we just have a look-see at the power of faith?"

- = -

The CI Blimp began to slowly decend, the speed of its circling lightening up as the berth of the ship broke through the cloud cover and came down beneath the rain in order to clearly view the city below.

The flame bulges once more as whatever was inside gave a final push.

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The explosion would send a sizeable wave fleeing in all directions. One section would smash into the Docks of Latent, but not really cause much damage. It would rock some boats and drench a few of the inhabitants in the area.

The flaming spire would no longer be seen. In its place, would be a small being... creature... thing...? Well, whatever it was, it's entrance was horribly disproportional to its actual size.

The "thing" was no more than 4' tall!

It was covered in smooth, greenish-gray skin. No clothes or armor would be covering it. Not that it mattered, the creature had nothing to show, really. Its body was featureless, only sporting some lean muscle definition. Several blade-like growths extended from the creature's shoulders, elbows, and head. The longest spike jutting out 15 inches from his head, curing backwards in a crest.

The creature stood motionless on the water's surface. The circle that had formed was gone, leaving just it and the waves. It's head was bowed towards its chest.

A faint, purple haze surrounded the creature.

Alas he wouldn't need to climb the wires, as he simply had propelled himself off of them, having them dissappear as he went. Yes it was a long ascent, yes it was tiring.

But wait a second, the blimp was desending? That would mean that?

FWOOOSH CLINK

Menos would reach the bottom of the blimp faster than he had anticipated. For this, he almost hit it, bounced right off, and then fell. However, a quick instinct made him lash out and grab hold of the bottom, meaning his claw hit through enough that he could grasp hold.

Now I know what your thinking, this blimp is made out of specially reinforced blah blah blah. Menos is psychokinetic, meaning that he can manipulate atoms and molecules with his touch.

So for the time being, he would stay there.

The creature, who would be known to those in the underworld only as "Eli", rose its head to glaze upon its new "playground".

Eli's face was about as featureless as its body. It had no nose, mouth, ears, or eyebrows. What it did have was a thin, black beard that ran from what would be considered its chin. The beard was the only hair visible on the thing's body. It was braided and ran down just below Eli's chest. A pair of glossy blue ovals which served as eyes, were locked ahead as the creature walked fowards. With each step, a small ripple would form. The waves created by the tide wouldn't even touch the being, they would literally yield to it.

Undead soldiers may have fell to the unexpected shower, but their contribution to the fight would not end. Not by a long shot. Flesh golems, skeletons, zombies, and ghouls alike would continue the battle as part of Eli. The very essence which allowed such creatures to exist would be absorbed into the purple haze looming over the being.

And as the ranks of undead thinned, Eli's strength swelled.

Somehow, a drop of water had wriggled it's way down into the sewer to hit KB right on the cheek. Wincing, he had to bite his lip to keep from swearing, as it sizzled his flesh. SOMEHOW holy water was leaking down onto the city from above, and a drop of it had found it's way onto him. His usual regenerative abilities did nothing to heal the small burn mark on his cheek, and he felt it begin to itch and burn. "Damnit" He muttered as he continued to walk along the ceiling of the tunnel, following the slug. Some people were just hella impolite.

...which would be the beginning of the end, alas.

Above the cloud cover, the airship would have a hard time spotting something as small as Menos approaching. However, now that the ship had decending below the cloud cover, the automated responce system would have alerted the pilots of anything approaching the vessel... Menos, at this point, however small he was, would be in range to trigger this.

CLINK

Three external cameras sprouted from the hull and trained upon the 'visitor'.

"Sir," the captain spoke, aboard the bridge.

Mr. Black looked back.

"There's some... thing... on the wing. There's... someone out there!"

"...put it on screen, Mr. Sulu."
