I play the alto, tenor, and bari saxophones. They all are fun ^.^ I play in my High Schools Marching, Symphonic, Pep, and Jazz bands.

I'm gonna see if I can try out the school's bari sax after our concert next week. I was talking to the high school band director and the sax section leader (well, not sure, but he'll probably be section leader), and he was talking about how he's gotten to play all of the saxes. Alto was his first, playing soprano for a couple songs in their concert, tenor for jazz, and he marched bari in the New York St. Patrick's Day Parade. (And he's only a sophmore right now.)
He's an amazing sax player. xd I hope I'll be that good...=D

Hey, I had a question that I hope someone will PM me an answer for. Whenever I get up into the upper register on my alto sax, I get waaaaaay flat, especially past the sax fingering A. Any suggestions, because I've tried alot of various techniques, but no luck. sad

does anyone think that it would be hard for a flute player to switch to a sax? i really want to play alto or tenor. the berri is way to big and the soprano is a little small(i dont want to play another tiny iinstrument). i think it would be cool to learn it over the summer because i know i dont have time to learn to play it in one month, do i?

Hun, the soprano sax is TINY. It's about the size of a clarinet; I think you're a little confused about that. It goes (in order from smallest to largest): soprano, alto, tenor, then bari. I'm a former flute player myself; and it's actually really easy to switch, a lot of the fingerings are the same. I switched to tenor in grade eight, then played tenor and bari in grade nine, and now I'm a full-time bari player. Sadly though, my bari sax is broken! Yeah, our school's funding is lacking; and we have very few good bari saxes. I got stuck with the crappy one while Simon got the BRAND NEW ONE and Alex got the one that was recently fixed. But does the only female get a good one? Nooo. She gets the crap one that is missing screws and one of the keys just fell off. Like, those keys that are on the neck of the bari? One of those fell off COMPLETELY. So now I'm sort of screwed; though I might be playing soprano or something for a while... *sigh* Today sucked.

I've been having a couple notes flat lately, too...Noticed it yesterday. Especially C sharp. It sounded reaaaaally weird.

Twilight Scribe Gah, I don't know what to do about the broken key on my sax! *waves it around like a wand* I'm panicking here! We've got our final concert in less than a month! Take it to a music store to get it fixed, I guess. One key shouldn't take a month to fix.

I don't know, it apparently took a month to replace a couple pads on my sax. But maybe they were just uber busy that month. And they didn't even clean it! That made me mad. evil But how'd you break your key?
