darkwolf possession I'm a freshmen clarinetist in high school! Proud member of the Judson Rocket Band! I've been playing since the 5th grade and its my passion. My clarinets 'unofficial' name is Eliza, but I'd rather give her a symbolic name like Luna, but cant find one that fits... This year was my first marching show We did Elvis Everywhere (a show written just for us biggrin ) yayness... Judson Rocket Band...that name sounds familiar... or maybe it's me just having a deja vu moment. sweatdrop

raining-sin i'm 8th chair in one of the two best middle school bands in the nation.... we haven't gotten our ratings from BOA, so we don't know if our band placed first or second... eyy!!!!! My middle school band ]south pointe middle skewl] is one of 'em too biggrin ...or so the best trombonist in the world of teh boston symph says...
what school? :O
mr. a made me realize we're doing a national competition next week in chicago O_o;...its getting me nervous >.< with all these high school stuff coming in its making my head hurt
so for my elective I can't take music through the ages or chamber winds [i have to try out]. But if so, I'm deciding between web design and journalism :/ so hard!!!!!!!!!
question, why do clarinetist have to attend a flute master class confused our top two flutes have been chosen for it, its the principal flutist from the detroit symphony [mr. a claims he's on of the best in the world]
i'm excited to see it :] i love hearing good flautist XD

I play in regular 8th grade band, select ensemble (have to be good to be in it), jazz band (working on improv), and full orchestra (you have to be one of the BEST in the school, there's only about 4 chairs per instrument (almost ALL of the strings suck though!!! xp scary)

I'm Andrea. I've been playing since 6th grade, and I'm currently a junior in highschool. I play three different kinds of clarinets: Soprano(marching), Bass(concert) & Contra-Alto(chamber). (yes, it is tough to switch all the time XD)
Solo & Ensemble is this Saturday and I'm fairly nervous for our little clarinet choir. But I believe we will do well :>

ok I need advice here's my story (btw: hello everyone ^^)
So this year during marching season I ended up being an alternate because I missed 2 days of bad camp because I was givin the wrong information. I stayed an alternate for the whole marching season no matter what I did. I challeneged people for thier spots, even tried out with other alternates for the open spots. I personally just think my band directors hate me. Anyway starting this week we're having marching band tryouts and I've practiced really hard to get a spot but I'm going even further. The auditions are not only for A marching spot but those who want to try out for section leader and/or varsity band that's the same tryout. I can play all my parts and I'm going for both of those but the thing is everytime I try to play the requirements at school I freeze up. (requierments are listed below). It's hard enough that my band teachers dislike me but I can't seem to play my parts at school and even when I do I can't because I freeze again
I am a clarinet in desperate need of advice. I want to try for it all so I can atleast say I have tried. I love band but does anyone have any advice for a freshman going on sophmore. I'm a nervouse reck and I feel sick just thinking about playing infront of my teachers alone. I want to show them that they made a big mistake not letting me march this year.
Marching/Varsity/ Section leader playing requirements for the 2007-2008 Mighty Panther Band auditions:
1.Must play F, C, Dflat, and G flat scales (2 octaves)
2.Must play a full chromatic scale
3.The student many play a selection of thier choice from any peice of music that they think will impress the directers
