Um, daggers are slower than a mage short on rapid.

Besides if you want to bring the cost of training into it, think about the thousands upon thousands of lobsters/sharks and other such food, not to mention prayer pots/antfire pots or other such stuff that a melee person has to lose.

What I was trying to get to is that if you went into the wild and fought anyone using range, the worst you could lose is either a crystal bow, if you're an idiot and don't item protect, which you really should, or if you're a tank ranger, you'd probably end up losing a torags helm at worst.

In the wild, a meleer using an ordinary set would lose a berserker helm, full rune, a dds, sup set, and at worst, a whip, full dharoks, granite plates and other stuff like that.
Mages lose runes, and if you're on ancients that can be a lot of money + ahrims robes, mystic sets and splitbark sets don't come that cheaply either not to mention ancient staffs and the dds they're no doubt hiding away.

All in all, rangers get the best deal in terms of cost to go pking.

Especially when you can make all that stuff pretty easy. The hardest thing would be arrow heads. However, if you were able to mine Runite, just get a friend with high smithing to make you the arrow heads.

75 fletching = easy...
84 crafting = easy for members...
90 Smithing = friend who likes ACME more than that coyote.

That would be pretty easy to do. Then there's another thing. Although it's not the case for everything, but some melee armor is weaker to range than to melee [depending on the style too].

I wasn't gonna go ahead listing off everything, but...

Ranging potion... Big whoop. Although, I know everyone but me and some others think herblore is hard and boring, you can get a friend to make you them.

75 WC, I didn't mention because that wasn't worth my time. It's such an easy skill, and you'd be getting the lvls from fletching.

85 fletching for bows, again, easy!

85 mining, power mine iron, it's simple.

Just look. Mage, you can't make everything. None of the robes, and even if bloods were RCable yet, many wouldn't be able to make. I swear, people would rather do herb than RC.

Melee, smithing full rune is hard [unless you had that friend]. However, when I was talking about melee armor being weaker to range than other melee, full rune was my main thought.

I never realised this would be such good attack experience.
