"Well, that's not entirely accurate…"'Adele said. "I…I killed my mother, my father, my older sister Tanya and my brother Rolf. Rolf shouldn't have died though…that was an accident…he's the only one I feel regret for…" She glanced over at Rue to see his reaction. She expected him to hate her and run.

"You're not going to run?" Adele asked him incredulously.

Adele smiled a little. "Because...they had promised they would train me to fight," she said. "And then they went back on their word and tried to train me to cook and clean and all that. I asked them to change their mind but father said no. He hit me when I asked again, and I used magic to kill him.That's how Rolf died...he got caught in the magic field. Then I killed Tanya, because mother and father had decided to keep training her to fight. Mother was taunting me for being weak, so I killed her too..." Adele just looked down, like she didn't want to admit it. "I'm glad...I'm glad Marius wasn't home...I never would have forgiven myself if anything had happened to him..."

"I thought you'd run," Adele said. "Or at least call me violent again..." She laughed. "But instead you only say my family's interesting..." She laughed again.

"Four years ago," Adele said. "The day I ran away from home."

Adele looked over at him and tilted her head a little to the side as she considered what he'd said. "No," she said. "They'd have come after me, and I tried talking it out. Violence was all I got from them in response.."

Adele shook her head. "He'd be furious," she said. "And I don't know where to begin looking for him..."

Adele shrugged. "I don't know..." she said softly.
