LunaInverse iBarty Man....I didn't think I'd end up liking Heroes this much..and I only just finished the fifth episode. Over the holidays when I was stuck working all by myself, I watched the whole damn series (I found the box set for Heroes for $30 with a $10 mail in rebate). Yes, Heroes is awesome. I never got a chance to see any of the 2nd season (and then the writer's strike happened), but I've heard that most fans were disappointed with the 2nd season. I liked it...but then that might be because I saw most of it and missed most of the first. What's going to be the third season was supposed to be part of the second, but then the writer's strike happened so...that's why the second could be lacking in the good for fans. *shrug* Either way, I know I liked it. I'm going to finish watching this show on DVD before next Friday (the 25th) because that's what' Moonlight comes back on and I only work from 11am-3pm that day!!!! I'm excited. xd

ewhituahpert.. LIKE HEROES. I shouldn't have started watching before having to get ready for work. I can leave after 3pm to catch a bus in time to get to where I need to go though..there's a few different ones I can take. Two that take me downtown so that I transfer, or to get there a little earlier I can take one that brings me directly to the mall but that means I have to leave the house earlier and walk a longer distance..which is fine. I'm still deciding which to take. xd

Phoenix Goliathane Happy Gaiaversary, Hila! And what a Gaiaversary it was - MC day, to boot. (I think it was MC day the day you joined as well, in fact - when did they change the date from end of month to mid-month?) Re, healthcare: It's kind of like six of one, half a dozen of the other, though. razz And, in a way, we already have socialized healthcare - no one can be turned away from an emergency room. The problem is, emergency room care is far more costly than a GP, which means that even in countries with a similar standard of care (and, let's be honest - even though the United States is host to many world-class hospitals, the vast majority of hospitals do not fall in that genre), their expenses are often far lower than our average expenses. (Granted, there's also liability, which is yet ANOTHER thing.) Would a single-payer system work for the US? Likely not - we already have a huge for-profit infrastructure. But, as I understand, even in countries that are generally single-payer, private insurers also operate and offer faster service than the queues you get with something like Britain's NHS. (Which, from what I've heard, is a ********. I've heard the French actually run theirs better, though.) MCs - yeah, there needed to be just a sitting rock puppy, but flying rock puppy is almost as good, plus I like pets that crawl up my leg. A similar pose was what made me buy a pora. Part of the problem Mass has though is that they really didn't go about making insurance any more affordable for the bulk of the population... at least not to a measurable extent, let alone enough to avoid ******** over the people who are already fighting tooth and nail to keep out of poverty. Instead of incentives, they headed right to the stick. If you're well off enough that the state doesn't need to care for you at every turn, yet living check-to-check enough that you can't swing insurance they'll just ******** you with punitative measures.

So the lady that often has the ghetto gang members over...I think I like her again (she's the only vaguely friendly person in the apartments surrounding mine).
Today three of the scary guys were bitching at each other real crazy and ghetto like. It woke me up from my nap actually. Every other word was "******" "********", etc. I couldn't really understand what they were saying, but it was scary because they were basically screaming it and getting all huffy at each other in their usual spot (in front of my walkway). So the lady that I mentioned comes out on to her porch and bitches them out. And I quote "(name), (name), (name), shut the ******** up. We have to live here. You guys need to quit this ghetto s**t and shut the ******** up. Take it somewhere else!" They kept arguing at each other like they didn't hear so she repeated it (with a few more curse words) several times, getting madder and madder. She said things like "You guys are embarrassing. We have to live here. We don't want to hear this s**t," etc. until they finally backed down, tails between their legs, swearing on their dead grandmothers that they were sorry and wouldn't do it again.
I am kind of impressed. I wish she would do that all the time because it worked like a ******** charm, and my life would be so much less stressed. I'm also kind of worried for her though, but I'm sure they won't do anything to her because it seems like they'd have nowhere to discuss their dastardly plans if she or the other woman didn't allow them to stay/hang out.
Wow...I actually feel like it's safe to go out today. sweatdrop

I have noticed that their popularity has definitely risen recently though. Maybe I should check out some new stuff...?
