4d20+0=4. Failure.

The last seal had a big picture of a boar displayed next to the handseal that was clearly nothing in resemblance to the handgesture. "Strange". Masanori thought as he tried the handseal. It seemed as if tough twisting the wrists 180 degrees was too much of a strange movment for Masanori these few tries.

20d20+0=20. EFFING SUCCESS!
Handseals.
12/12.

"Oh, wrong way." the few tries before he had twisted the wrists the wrong, but as he noticed the error, he quickly corrected it and finished the move in a flash. In that manner, he raised his hand and in a friendly voice, declared his success: "Finished, Mokujin-sensei." he looked over to the student that had finished just before him and gave him a friendly nod.

Mokujin could hardly believe it when he heard "Finished," coming from behind him. It seemed that Gennosuke had indeed went through that book so fast it almost seemed as though he had been faking it.

"Eh... congratulations Gennosuke-kun...", the wooden sensei said hesitantly. "Just wait a bit longer for Masanori.", he added turning back to the window.

It was only a few moments later that he heard his other student manifest that he also was done with the basic hadseal training.

"Ok, now, before we go into anything specific I'm going to have to teach you how to actually mold chakra, de rest all derives from dere.", he explained. Mokujin opened his hand as blue energy started visibly emanating from his palm. He added "See, if you can start by controlling de emanations of chakra from your body enough so dat it can be visible, you'll be able to use it in a variety of ways." Slowly, the blue smoke converged to the tip of his fingers and condensed into thin chakra threads that Mokujin used to move some of the desk furniture. "See, same basic principle, I only use it to make chakra threads for my puppet play jutsu. Right now, all I expect from you is to actually make your chakra visible, I can only teach you your first jutsu once this as been sufficiently mastered."

Ninja Art: Water Form Technique
A technique used to turn the user’s body into a liquid form of chakra solidified water, causing all physical attacks to flow through him and preventing damage. For an increased chakra cost, user can revert to the form of a puddle and remain immune to physical attacks until the jutsu is released. The user remains vulnerable to fire and lightning jutsus. Given the nature of the technique, the user must have a very strong affinity to water to use it.
Cp: 70 + 8 per holding post
Damage: n/a
Requirement: Chakra Control 35, exclusive Water Affinity, previously mastered Mizu Bunshin no Justsu.
Special: Can be used as a reaction. Gives immunity to physical, earth, wind and water damage. Ice jutsus paralyze the user immediately upon impact and cancel the jutsu, once frozen, any damage done to the frozen puddle is directly transfered to the body. Lightning jutsus inflict normal damage but cancel the jutsu immediately upon impact.

Hiru was distracted from his training when he saw Mokujin-sensei create a puppet from thin air in the classroom where the others were studying. Stranger still, Hiru could have sworn he had seen his teacher whisper something to his puppet before making it dissapear. Even though he was used to seeing his sensei act strangely, he couldn't help but wonder where that thing had went...

DC = 20 (pass)

Hiru went back to his scroll, those seemed to be the only warning that figured on it. "So, watch out for fire, lightning, and ice..., got it.", he pondered. Once more, Hiru was distracted by something that occured inside the classroom in the distance. It appeared that a new kid he had never met had joined the class. A young ninja wearing a blue vest, he'd have to in remember to introduce himself later...

DC = 15 (pass)

Hire resumed his reading of the jutsu description:

The first step towards the mastery of this jutsu is knowing the art of giving water a physical, biological shape. If this basic concept still eludes the person trying to master this technique he or she should return to his basics (see Mizu bunshin jutsu, page 3). Until this has been sufficiently understood, reading this any further is futile.

DC = 20 (pass)
DC: 15 -> 14

Hiru remembered his long hours underwater during the invasion when he put so much effort in mastering the water clone technique. At that time, he didn't really have a choice but to get it right since it was the only way he could have saved all the people in critical condition that were lying in the attacked hospital. Still, it meant he met this criteria for the water form technique.

DC = 19 (pass)

Hiru read farther.

The principle behind the water form technnique is doing the Mizu bunshin jutsu in reverse. Instead of fousing on giving chakra infused water a complete biological sytem, he must change his system in chakra infused water. For this training, it is suggested that the user submerges him in water, if only partially.

DC = 7 (fail)

Hiru looked around to find a lake or river nearby. He remembered doing a few laps underwater in the river next to the school. He walked there and slowly walked deeper and deeper into the water, until he was hip deep in it. He'd have to do all he could not to get the scroll wet or he'd be in a ton of trouble. Still, he tried to get in an angle where he could still see his class so he could join Mokujin and the others should an organized activity start while he was out.

Not soon after Gennosuke finished so had the other guy, Masanori. He glanced over at the boy with a nod as a show of a 'good job'. His attention was quickly bought back to the teacher who had showed them chakra molding. He watched some of the furniture move around with the man's chakra threads and was slightly amazed.

He looked at his hand and thought about how he was going to get his chakra to appear. He focused on trying to get his chakra to show up in his hand. He kept looking at the spot hoping that it would glow just as the teachers did but to no avail. "How do you get it to show up?" he asked curiously. He didn't know if it was completely concentration of just meer thought.

Molding chakra.

"Sure Mokujin-sensei. I'll try it." he went around the desk he sat by and took a posistion then moved his hands together, executing the tora seal. "Okay.. molding chakra.." he closed his eyes, took a deep breath and started to search through his body for some time kind of chakra centre.

10+0+0=10. Failure.
Molding chakra.
0/12.

"It seemed that his stomach covered a large amount of his chakra supply. "So.. To make it visible.. I drive it out of my body, right? Through my bones? Through my muscle tissue and through my skin pores." he started to imagne the chakra around his stomach, as a kind of clay, that he tried to stretch out through his structure.

4+0+0=4. Failure.
Molding chakra.
0/12.

""No result.." he sighed heavily as he looked at his hands. "But it felt strange, so I guess I am on my way" he returned to the tora seal again and started to focus, trying diffrent ways to get the chakra out of him. "If I don't get it in a few more tries, I'll ask Mokujin-sensei for help."

Molding chakra.

Masanori got into his stance, with his legs spread somewhat wide. With his two hands forming the tora seal once again and his eyes stone shut and with deep breathing. He focused on his center and started to try and grab and pull and twist the centre of his power. But with no success of change of chakra visability.

9d20+0+0=9. Failure.
Molding chakra.
0/10

As the minutes passed he stop and started to think what molding really meant. He went through the handseal book in his head and remembered a piece of information at the first page, regarding just molding. "Was it.. Two? Forces of power we have in our body? Yeah.. Spiritual and psyichal.. Right right.." he grabbed his chin and massaged it gently, when he continued to ponder. "Molding means combining two elements or objects and mashing them together. So I guess that is what I need to do" he got into his stance.

14d20+0+0=14. Success.
Molding chakra.
1/10

He thought of the spiritual energy and the psyichal as two giant piles that at a given time slowly started to mash together as one and creating a mixure of them both. Then slowly, taking that mixture and forcing it to the tip of his index finger, creating a faded flick of blue energy. "Yes!"

Kanejin took a few moments of observation before barging in, letting the student learn on his own was always an important part of the teaching process. "Yo, shark boy.", he said sitting on a tree branch overlooking Hiru's studying spot. "Never been a water jutsu buff myself" the steel puppet... said?, "but I sure know one thing, the best way to move forward is going back to basics. Always build on solid foundations, bro!", he concluded with a wink.

Hiru jumped nearly three feet in the air because of how surprised the freaky steel puppet had made him. Strangely, the puppet seemed to be talking to him... and did not sound at all like Mokujin-sensei. Plus it was giving all sorts of corny advice and trying to sound "hip". Still, even though the delivery might not have been the best he could have asked for, the message was fairly helpful.

DC = 11 + 4 (pass)

Following Kanejin's advice, Hiru started by the basics of the water form, which was the water clone jutsu. As though it was practically nothing, Hiru made a few hand seals and made an exact copy of himself appear in his vicinity. He waived it to come closer to him so he could proceed to inspecting it. He absolutely had to find the principle behind turning water to flesh.

DC = 9 (fail)

He approached the bunshin and, at first, thought poking it would have been the appropriate method to gauge its composition. Obviously, Hiru was left scratching his head on that try and left completely lost. If there was something to be learned from this "foundation" it wasn't going to be through palpation apparently.

DC = 6 (fail)

After a few moments of what would have appeared to an outsider to be a staring contest between Hiru and his clone, the shark boy dug back into his memory to get a sense of how he had learned the technique. That's when it hit him, the skeleton for the mizu bunshin had never been the water itself, it was actually a chakra circulatory system that he had to reproduce.

DC = 3 (fail)

It slowly came back to him. Hiru remembered having learned the technique underwater since it was easier for his created system to grab an element to base itself on. This made Hiru realize one important thing: the key to learning this jutsu will not be thgouh the understanding and handling of water but rather with the flow and nature of his own chakra.

DC = 1 (fail)

Hiru went back to his scroll to verify if his assumption would have been correct. Of course, Hiru having the attention span of a very focused goldfish, he mostly looked at the illustrations to understand the content of a document. And, even though it wasn't all that clear if he had been right or not, he couldn't help but notice that the image that came back the most often in the scroll was a chakra circulatory system emanating chakra.

He waited patiently and after a moment after his hand began to grow. He smiled and raised his hands. "I did it," he said not knowing he had broken his concentration and thus cancelled his chakra molding. "GAAAHHH," he yelled after seeing his hand stop glowing.

DC = 16 (pass)

Hiru was definately on to something with his theory on placing the focus on chakra rather than the element of water. This theory could have explained the notice he'd seen on the instruction scroll. Hiru had only seen it very quickly and didn't really understand right away but he thought it could make more sense to him now... if he could just find it.

DC = 12 (fail)

After going up and down the scroll a few times he finally spotted the instruction. It was in the part on the theory of the jutsu so it could explain why Hiru would have read right past it...

In order for someone to even be able to master this technique, a strong, innate, and unique affinity of the chakra system to the element water is required.

DC = 10 (fail)

Hiru wondered how this could be, from all the jutsu he'd seen described in various books and scrolls he'd never seen having many elemental affinities as a problem in learning techniques.

...since this technique requires deep, fundamental changes to the very fabric of the body, the organism must be in complete sync with the element of water for it to be feasible. The chakra system being the very life force of the body, constantly flowing through it, should this life force have only one element it will make it possible for the chakra, if properly controlled, to turn flesh into its own element.

DC = 1 (fail)

Hiru read further.

Should the user have a multi elemental chakra affinity, his body being used to two types of element, the non aquatic chakra would not be able to circulate through a water body preventing the chakra to flow through the altered body but also simply preventing the transformation from ever occuring at all. This is why the user should be very aware of his elemental affinites before spending time on trying to master this jutsu.

DC = 3 (fail)

Now, Hiru had never really done an exercise actually intended to identify what his affinites were, but it really didn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. He had never felt better than he did in water, his jutsu training was twice as productive when done on a river bak or underwater, and the first time he actually tried molding jutsu he inadvetantly generated water. Chances of him having an affinity to lightning were pretty slim...

DC = 20 (pass)

Then, Hiru folded the scroll. Now, the time for theory was over. He had to get dirty and try physically working on the technique. He called his bunshin closer and placed his hand on it. Closing his eyes he absorbed the chakra he had put into it back into himself and focused on the feel it, leaving the body of a water construct. Hiru recorded that feeling into his memory and chakra, knowing this was what he had to reproduce throughout his entire body.
