I play the tenor, and I own a Selmer and play on 3 1/2 Vandoren reeds.
Does anyone else play tenor? Maybe it's just my horn, but I always have a lot of trouble tuning it.... Any tips? I have a mouthpiece that helps, but it's starting to not be enough...

LeonTheEviscerator I've played both Alto and Bari sax. I like Bari the best, but I'd really love to play either bass or Soprano. Same here. I love playing the bari sax, and I think I sound better on it. There's a kid in the jazz band in the school that plays Soprano sax mrgreen

Durza the Shade I want to learn tenor. I don't play a sax yet, though. I play clarinet, and tenor's in the same key, so it will be easy to learn; I'm probably going to play it for pep band this year. I use to play clarinet but then I switched to alto sax...It's not that hard actually to learn a different key....Sure I sorta forgot how to play the clairnet.....But I guess you can play both and remember them mrgreen

So, I played Tenor Sax for the first time today, because our 8th grade band (well, most of us) and a 6th grader are playing Wipe Out for the talent show, and we were trying out today.
I have to say, IT'S FREAKING AWESOME. =D I looooove it. (Possibly more than the alto. Now, THAT'S A LOT. :O)
And it's kind of hard to believe that I'm better at playing it in a day than some people I know who have played it for a year...and I'm better. Is it just me, or is that SAD? (Yes, yes it is.)
It's a lot louder, too. Me like that. :]

It usually takes me two to three weeks to figure out the key and how the notes are played, but when I get it, I can play just fine.

I wish I could have a challenge...since our band is so small, we have to combine with the seventh graders, so our music is pretty easy.

I've been working with my overtones so i'm able to hit it much easier but still...

I play both alto and tenor.....My alto is a girl and is named mary. My tenor is a boy and named George. is it wrong to name your instrument? Does anyone her have to share their instrument with someone else? i do. I use george in concert band a a boy plays george in jazz band. And Alchohal pads(Used for cleaning off the spit) Does not taste good!!!! Stupid seventh graders. And yes, our band is mixed too. So we have to play stupid easy peaces. And the tenor pieces are usually quarter notes. My part is always the same as the Euphoniums/Baritone and their parts are boring. So bascically, i'm a tenor Bariphone.
