What the hell is EV training...?

I've beaten it before. Just wanted to try it a different way though. ToS has many possibilites. 3nodding

Ahh... EV training. It takes forever but is quite worth it in the end I think. But I just got into IVs. Is level 50 the best to check for what they may be or should I wait for a higher/lower level?

I love the 10x exp option. It makes me smile. Which way are you going now? And where are you at? Right now, after my like fifth time playing it through I am just after the Whole Collete loses her soul stuff. Its really refreashing to NOT hear her talk. I hold no love for Collete. Or Genis... I dont like him either... Or Zelos... Or Mithos... In fact I don't like a lot of charactors in the game or a lot of parts in it but I play it all the time.... sweatdrop

You should have seen the argurement my friend and I has late last night.
I want to have a match with my Kindra verus his Groundon.
He thinks that Solarbeam is super effective and'll knock out Kingdra in one shot. XD

Four people told me they didn't think I'd be the type to like cute things.
WTH?!

I don't really know how to explain it better...but it's an optional way of training your Pokemon so you can sort of hand-pick how their stats grow. Each Pokemon you defeat (in the wild or another trainers, in game, anyways) gives a number of Effort Points (or EVs). For instance, I want my Pikachu to grow in speed, so I go out and battle Pokemon repeatedly that give Speed EVs, like Zigzagoon, Wingull, Taillow, Pidgey and Rattata. Those Pokemon each give 1 Speed EV when you defeat them. Every 4 EV points you acquire gives you 1 bonus point to that particular stat. Each Pokemon can accumulate a grand total of 510 EV points, and a maximum of 255 for one stat (which basically adds up to 63 bonus points to that stat). (You can find out if you've gained them all by speaking to the lady next to the Energy Guru in Slateport City).

Is this making sense so far?

yeah. But it sounds like a waste of time to me. Why go after certain pokemon when I dont discriminate and just kill them all. 3nodding

All I know is that in a while in the game that lady likes me and my pokemon a lot. 3nodding

That's when you have Kingdra use Rain Dance and cancel out the effects of Groudy's Drought. ninja And then Kingdra will be super fast, not to mention the fact that you could KO Groudy with a well aimed Surf attack. (especially seeing how much damage it will cause).

Well then there's also the fact that you're not adding points to your Pokemon that wouldn't do it any good, such as Special Attack for a Geodude or Attack for a Kadabra.

I haven't battled him yet.
I'd love to take him on though. Just to show him how "crappy" my Kingdra is. X3

I have no idea how to add points! Its all to confusing with all those numbers!!! GAH!! I miss the old days when you just had to battle pokemon to get levels! Not all this stuff about EV's or personalities or all that other junk!

Well even back then there was Stat Experience. It's basically why training with only Rare Candies was a bad idea. It gives the EXP to level, but not the extra Stat XP that adds to them. xD *shuts up before Melph tries to kill her*

Hey I loved that Rare Candy dupilcation! It made me happy! I enjoyed beating the Elite 4 with a Caterpie! I enjoyed owning them with the weakest pokemon in the game just for my own amusement! Hahaha! I dont think I am going to worry about all that EV junk! I am just going to train and raise my pokemon the way I did it befor. After all I can still kick most people's butts with out your stupid and confusing EV system that seems to be more trouble then its worth!
