Emma's tea arrived, and she curled her fingers around the warm ceramic much the same way as Remus had.
"True enough..."
She really wanted to start conquering in earnest again...

"So besides this little Cult War, what else have you been up too?" Remus asked her.

Skutz popped her head up at the mention of the two opposing factions that were B.O.O. and S.I.N.
"Still," she spoke to Remus, "it's weird to fight over something like the earthworm, even petty." She scoffed at that fact, "but things will be interesting, specially with Jack pulling strings."

"Just a few Samhain preparations, a little bit of entertainment for a few close friends."
Voice lessons in secret, along with acting coaching.
Emma had found another arena of sorts that called to her:
A stage.

"Oh, well that certainly sounds, nice." Remus replied, unsure of what Samhain was.
Remus nodded to Skutz. "Who ever would have thought that such a small being could be the source of such a massive war?" Remus took a drink of his coffee.
"Well actually, this war is kind of small in scale compared to what Rome usually has." Remus never missed a chance to gloat about the Empire he built from near nothingness.

"Reminds me of Hastings sometimes...or Waterloo."
She had been at both, and there were a few soldiers that had been quite confused as to why they were being led by a woman.

"I've noticed that S.I.N. has a small lead over B.O.O., Remus," Skutz noted, "are the forces slipping?" She ordered a drink and turned back to Remus, in all his gloating airs. "Why didn't those two demi-gods find another earthworm, I mean, there SHOULD be more than just one, or I may be just speculating here..."

The Imperator had noticed too, but he wasn't worried. "If the Overseer fails, its his loss, not Rome's."
Remus thought about his words for a second. "Though it would feel like a personal failure for me."

Emma watched the two converse with a wary eye, every sense heightened as the minutes ticked by.
The veil grew thinner and thinner with the passing of time.

At that moment, an automaton walked in a requested that the Imperator attend to some urgent matters.
Remus scowled and left a tip on the bar. "I need to get back to the front lines. I'll see you guys on the field of battle perhaps." With that, Remus grabbed some coffee and ran off outside. He'd be back later though.

Emma reentered the Waning Vestal some hours later, her features slightly less steely and determined than they had been previously.
She was weary, but quite satisfied with the day.
Unfortunately, the tavern was empty.
But she would wait.

Grey burst through the door, smoke rising from his armor. There were several spots on his armor where there were burn marks, and his once-pristine coat was tattered and riddled with holes. The doctor was out of breath, and collapsed on a couch breathing heavily.

Emma was at his side the next moment, looking at him with an expression of mixed concern and incredulity.
"Do I really want to know?"

Grey gulped, getting a combined taste of blood and smoke out of his mouth. "War is for drones, not doctors." He continued breathing heavily.

"War is a many-layered thing."
She placed a hand on his forehead, sending a healing spell down her arm and sinking beneath his skin.
