My brain's not working. I'll get to Scrabulous sometime this afternoon. Heaven....maybe.

I've had issues with one of my roommates ever since Hiro got here. She basically decided he couldn't stay because of her own mental insecurities. Of course I want to consider the fact that she might not be comfortable or whatever with me having a guest for a little under 3 weeks, but when she won't give me a particular reason why she's opposed to him staying (ex. we are too loud, messy, etc.) other than the fact that she needs to study for midterms (something that I need to make time to do as well), I've gotten pretty upset. Essentially, I'm really irritated because he's a really good guest, quiet, cleans up after himself immediately, etc. She said she doesn't mind if he visits during the day, but can't handle him sleeping over because she feels like she "can't relax" or sleep well if he's in the next room. I find this mildly hilarious because, as a result of my own personal/health-related problems at the moment, we can't actually do anything at night anyway. Not like we would in such close proximity to roommates anyway. We're both too considerate to be loud late at night, and much too shy to let ourselves be overheard.

I'm also particularly frustrated with the way she decided to communicate her orders requests to us through notes on the refrigerator after the initial "meeting" about it. Her chosen language was particularly condescending. stressed I know I shouldn't take that completely harshly because English is her second language, however that is also the tone and attitude she adopted from the beginning of this whole thing, so I feel that it's still valid for me to be somewhat offended....

So as a result of this, Hiro's going to stay with our Japanese professor for the remainder of his time here, which will likely severely limit our time together. Sad...70% of the reason he's visiting me right now is to see me, and to celebrate our 3-year......

Even if it was American perspectives, it would still be pretty rad.

...I don't think I had much room for electives when I was in high school... everything was a requirement mostly.

Don't worry about scrabble!

I could understand if you and her shared a room that she would be uncomfortable with him staying over, but what does it matter if you two are in your own room, away from her? It's not like you're leaving him alone all the time with her, I assume... actually, I'd say she's pretty lucky to not really have to deal with her roommates' overnight guests until now. Most roommates have lots of overnight guests, and are loud and noisy.

Oh, I hate the passive-aggressive note-thing. *hugs* That sucks. But I wish you a happy third-year anniversary! heart

Well yeah. But it wouldn't be bitchin'. I didn't sign up for WWII class to hear how omgawesome America is. talk2hand I already have that with the whole "US history for two years, world history for one" bs.

True, true. I suppose I was also thinking how rad a Civil War class would be... but of course that would be best from American perspectives.

Our requirement was a year of 'random social studies' (like civics, how business work, etc), one year world history, one year US history, and then one half year of US government.

I'm sorry to hear that... but hopefully you'll still end up spending a lot of time together... didn't she say he could stay for the day?

I do understand where she's coming from. I have a hard time relaxing when I know we have houseguests, even when I hole up in my own room. It can also be hard to hang it loose when there are others over, especially of the opposite gender. Nonetheless, I have put up with someone's girlfriend staying for a month. I found out that was to be the case the morning she got here... and I have a feeling that whole ordeal was way more annoying that Hiro is.

Anyway, I wish you two a happy anniversary and hopefully this incident won't put too much of a damper on things. smile

Not necessarily. Even IRL, there are far more girl clothes than guy clothes. (Aside from the old bit about guys not liking to shop.) I mean, looking through my wardrobe, the general day-to-day stuff I wear is:

-T-shirt. Usually, either something that's beat down, or something that looks vintage with a witty caption across the front. (My favorite among these is the "This Is Why I'm Hot" one.
-Possibly a long-sleeved shirt under it.
-Jeans. Currently, I prefer jeans with a bit of give, but that's because I'm not comfortable with showing the curves of my a** to the world. (I mean, certainly, I have a very nice a**, but that's for private.)
-Sneakers. I only really keep one pair - a brown pair of Converse skates. Contemplating getting a pair of Chucks, but something tells me I should get leather sneaks because walking through the rain in suede is a b***h.
-Belt. The two I use most often are rather different - one has holes cut out of it, while the other has gold crosses embedded all around it. (I like the second one better, but my mother calls it a girl's belt. OKAY THEN.)
-Hoodie or pullover sweatshirt.

Sometimes I switch it up with a buttoned-down shirt. (Generally left somewhat unbuttoned and with the cuffs rolled up - I like the rumpled look plus if the shirt doesn't go all the way down to my wrists it doesn't matter that much.)

Most of that IS unisex; I could wear a lot of that stuff as a girl and not be looked at as horribly butch. A chick could even wear a suit and not look too bad, most of the time. (Of course, then we have crazy s**t like Celine Dion's infamous backwards tux.) But if I were to wear a lot of stuff that girls wear, in those cuts? I'd look like I was trying to be effeminate. And I mean, even girl jeans (sup Suyo) or a lot of the odd cuts that women wear.

I think Gaia's reflective of how people actually dress - women drive by like five billion stores and can even wear the heck out of men's s**t, but it doesn't work in reverse.

Another thing is that I'd venture to say that the majority of Gaia is girls and guys that act like girls. (Mostly girls, though.) They WOULD play towards that.

Not only do you have similar fashion sense as me, but you also nailed me on the head. rofl

So....I found out tonight after work that my mom has cancer. I'm not sure exactly what to feel. I feel a little pain inside, but I haven't let myself cry or anything. We don't know if it's spread or anything, but...there's a chance it might have because she said she's felt this sort of lump for three weeks when she swallows, and there's a tingling under the right arm pit (like pins and needles). I don't know if I should go to Anime Detour now because she'll probably be in the hospital by then. But..knowing her she'd tell me to go have fun but I just..don't know. I'm not all that worried about it yet, but the idea of it is scary and it's really upsetting right now because if something were to happen I don't know what I'd do. She's like..the only other person that's really there for me if I did need it. And if she did die, I don't know where I'd live because I'd be alone with no way to pay for rent or anything. She told me I could still live at home, have people move in (though she mentioned one of my sisters if she got a job but...truthfully, I wouldn't let her move in because she hasn't found a job in months and she smokes weed which I don't care but I'd rather not live with someone that does that stuff). That way I would be able to take care of the water & gas, electricity, etc. There wouldn't be a mortgage to pay because she got insurance on the loan so got to pay off the rest of last mortgage. I forgot what it's called again...it's not the home equity loan, but it was just one to help pay the 12k on the last mortgage. I think it starts with a s? Anyway...so, yeah..that's about it. I just..I don't know what I'll do if I lose her. I'm lucky she didn't die in the car accident she was in when the hood of the car went up into the front window. If it had gone any further than it did, she would have been decapitated and I'd be completely parentless by now. I don't know..I just hope it hasn't spread. I hope everything will be alright.... I think I need ice cream right now.

Your mother will be in my prayers, dude. My own mother has went through chemo because of breast cancer, and currently is on her 3rd year of remission. Do you know what stage it is in?

Sorry; in my view swords are infinitely more cool than guns. razz I did enjoy Gunsmith Cats though.
Bah! Swords are of the past! Get with the times, ya dig?
Hell no. I'm a fantasy addict. talk2hand But at least Slayers has Jillas, when it comes to firearms. But he's male.

There should be a fantasy anime which has magical guns that shoot swords.

In Final Fantasy VIII, Squall's gunblade does more damage when you press R1 and shoot it as the blade strikes.

Is that kinda what you're alluding to?

I mean you pull the trigger and ******** sword comes out and stabs you at bullet speed.
