Piper sighed and looked down at her son, who looked back up at her a moment before he plopped her head against her chest in that face hiding way. If she wasn't worried about father and son before...she sure was now. This wasn't how things were supposed to be. Petting through the child's hair she sighed, "I know it's not your fault..."
Fianna looked up to the door and set down her brush to head over and pull it open. She certinally was dressed down but not indecent by any means. It was just how she managed to pull things off. "Both." Watching him a moment. "You have that look about you, what's the matter Malik?" Opening her door for him to come in as she headed back over to sit on the bed so she didn't have to bear weight too long on her ankle. At least all the blood was off her person.
"They killed him themselves. And me....well I became a master rune mage I suppose is how I got out." Though he could never figure out why he didn't leave sooner...he had the skills and he hated the life. But if he had to take a guess, he would say that he stayed because it had become comfortable and stable to someone who was less than mentally so...the familiarity bred comfort alongisde the resentment. "If you want to ask anything of my past....now's the time to do it."

He closed the door and leaned against it, crossing his arms lightly.
"My son is the matter. He is afriad of me. he doesn't want me to hold him, he doesn't want me near to piper, and is already promising to be good so I don't beat her in retaliation."
"that..creature, used psychological means to bind my son to her while in her 'care'. He is under the impression that I can, and will, beat piper for any reason I deem fit. trying to explain it as an illusion didn't work. in fact he argued the point. he has excuses why people didn't stop me. he has been fed excuses for the things I do for piper, such as her books, to make her 'compliant' and not 'leave me'. to be honest I don't know how to fix this kind of problem. I'm used to breaking minds and spirits, not repairing them. I was hoping you might know someone or be able to help yourself."
pointing a finger at her.
"Not to mention you still owe me what's wrong with Kieran."

"You just got him back Malik...it's going to take some time. You saw how he looked when we got there. He probably hasn't even recovered from that yet. And frankly you can't blame him too much...when souls are involved then he doesn't know what's right and wrong. All he can go by is what he's been told or saw. As his father....well, your words are hardly anything aside from truth. 'You' told him things, and now you yourself are telling him the contridictary. Like you're trying to play some game with him." Being a mother was working in her favor wasn't it? Getting the light thinking diplomatic look to her, she tucked some of her hair out of her face. "I think I can help you out, but you have to help out too. We'll just construct absolute example. I do hope you feel like some time alone with Piper but in the....safe for all ages, way."
Blinking then at the finger that was pointed at her and she frowned as he brought up that subject again. "I told you, Kieran got hurt." It was true...she wasn't lying about that. It was the manner of injury that she really didn't want to talk about. "He's just recovering is all...that's why he couldn't come. Bless the man he wanted to, but we made him stay in bed."

His eyes widened and he tried to imagine once again but couldn't. There was nothing to be done about such a thing, was there? How could a sister take her brother's life without a care in the world? "At least you feel guilty..." he muttered under his breath. It was written on his father's face as he talked about it and ripe in his tone as well. "I'm glad you did." Fiddling with that ball again he tried to recall all those questions that he'd thought of over the years and been brushed off but he couldn't remember a single one for some reason. Glancing up, he frowned. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I know he's recovering. I just don't want him to not do things that he needs to or to not want to do things because his mother may not be at his side and he's scared to death she's laying in bed beaten bloody. I don't want Malikhai going to school, and Dhairiss spending his time looking for him in a panic because he has the impression that I might have beaten him and left him someplace."
his expression didn't change looking at her like a paretn trying to get a child to confess.
"Yes, and I think I made it quite clear then that I wanted to know what happened. Don't think I won't go to Andal myself and force it out of Lateef."

He sighed lightly. "Because the man you looked up to and the man who I am are very different people. When you were born...I promised that you would never have to know any part of it. I wanted you more than anything in the world, and I wanted to do everything I could to protect you. And that meant from myself as well. There are times son when even I don't know who I am and you've seen those." Yes those times when Sevilin 'lost it' and behavior changed drastically, or perhaps even when he cleaned even a little too thoroughly even for his standards. "You're growing up very different than I did and you'll never be subjugated to such things...I don't want to bring up 'what ifs' and such in your mind. And perhaps selfishly so I don't want you to see me any different either or rather anymore than you already do."
"Don't blow things out of proportion now. He can't have you thinking ill things or you'll just be fostering his own fears." But it seemed she wasn't getting away from this issue and was going to have to fess up. "Well...we, as in me and him had an accident of sorts. He had just randomly shown up for one of his ever infamous surprise visits. Somehow that marriage topic came up again and I didn't want to talk about it....which escalated into a fight and that lead to him...getting nailed with an arrow from my bow. I had been bluffing honestly, but you know how he is. He off guarded me and well...I let go by instinct." Clearly she was feeling guilty about it...wasn't like she wanted to almost kill the man she loved more than anything.

He'd always had that niggling feeling that his father was hiding something and now that he thought about it, believed that some of that was responsible for his constant rebellions and attempts to pull the information out of his father even though he knew it would end in a fight. "But those times are pretty rare and Mom knows how to pull you out of it. At least I think she does." He didn't really know. Only that sometimes Dad acted strange one day and the next day he was back to his normal self. He assumed it was because of his mother's influence but maybe she was as helpless as the rest of them. "My opinion of you has never changed, Dad. Ever. Did Mom experience the same things but in reverse? She wont' talk about her past either..."

He wasn't so sure how truthful his son was being, but he'd like to think that he was being absolutely so. He'd like to think that his image wasn't marred in his son's eyes. But that thinking look he often god. "In a way. Your mother was defiant to her own culture and that got shunned by her own sister. Got her hurt to by her sister's doings and arrangement. Her past is not as horrid...but it has some rough spots that still get her from time to time too."

Malik stared at her for a moment, tilted his head, and then chuckled, which brought to laughter.
"That's absolutely priceless. you accidentally shot Kieran with your bow? that's it? by innoruuk woman...I was thinking that he fell off a cliff, he got caught by an obsidian, that fluffy thing tried to eat him, he's got some deadly virus...and all the fuss is beacuse you accidentally shot him with a bow because he got you flustered while you had it cocked and aimed at him."
a smirk.
"Hell, Piper has shot me with her bow on purpose for being a jackass. at least you can say yours was an accident."

"And that's why you're with her, right? Because she didn't want to be what they wanted her to." He knew a little about his mother's past. She'd told him she'd grown up Llothian but hadn't believed what she'd been taught. She'd never gone beyond that, never expounded on anything she had seen or done or had done to her. His father had always been tight-lipped on everything to do with his past. "Got her hurt? Hurt how?"

Fianna was clearly less amused than him. "It's not funny! I almost killed him right there where he stood! And he's not speaking to me right now." Clear moment the difference in how Fianna preceived things and no she was not a happy woman with his amusement at all. "I mean I know I didn't want to talk about marriage and what not but doens't mean he needs to be impaled with an arrow. Runic arrow mind you." Crossing her arms. "Don't cross me or I'm not going to help you." Ever sensitive Fianna. "If you were expecting him to fall off a cliff....how about a cave in. He had one of those happen the week prior while he was there."
He sighed. "What we say, does not leave this room alright? Your mother would possibly maim me and I don't have the energy to fend her off if I can't even handle a ball of it from you. "Your mother was raped when she was younger. To a Llothian woman, even one who defies the teachings that is something that tears to the core. For any woman I would imagine, but I'm bias so you can't count my opinion. And to be honest....I beat the living hell out of your mother almost weekly when we first me. She fought back against me just as hard."

He nodded then listened avidly, pleased that he was finally learning something about his parent's life. "That's not supposed to happen though. Women are supposed to be supreme in that society or the men are destroyed. Or...wouldn't a man be terrified to do that?" Something wasn't adding up here but maybe it had something to do with the mentioning of a sister. It was weird knowing he had aunts somewhere that he didn't know. He didn't want to know them because if they were anything like Khaiver, they were only out to hurt him and his family. "You didn't trust her and she didn't trust you. And I wasn't supposed to be either. Malik tricked you." Yup, he knew the origins of his own birth. "Did that surprise you, scare you, or impress you?" Because this was as close as he was going to get when it came to girl advice from his dad.

"It is when your thinking he's a half a milimeter from dead, and all the fuss is an arrow. granted it might have been nearly fatal in it's own right. but of all the things that can go wrong with that elf's constant need to fill journals, this is hardly something to panic about. your own example there. I would find a cave in more frightening to his health than an arrow. even a runic one. especially if he was caught be a certain obsidian wench."
settling down by her on the bed, patting her leg lightly.
"so what's the big fuss about marriage. your both getting to a point where it's a possibility. no more thrones, no more kingdom wide responsibilities. You're not getting cold feet or something are you? And, frankly speaking as a male, we know that wether we like it or not, the wedding day is going to stick out in your mind more than the wedding night. I'm sure his questions are just to try and make sure it's everything you could possibly want it to be."

"A man who is given a chance at revenge on those that have hurt him for decades will more likley than not take that chance. Even if it means he dies by the end of it, he still sought his revenege and in some cases, gets it." He saw that with Khaiver, though the circumstances were somewhat different. But a little nod. "I was quite surprised. At myself and at her...she scared me and yet I knew I had the upperhand. We were sniping for power over each other in the beginning. I couldn't really tell you how things settled down...they just seemed to. We settled into each others' ways I guess and it got comfortable. Despite your birth circumstances...here you are anyway. And you're the one who brought things together."
"I will slap you again, don't you try me because we both know I'm not afraid too. I've slapped several people several times now and if you want a third or fourth for yourself then step up." Shaking her head lightly. "He lives in the mountains...they know how to handle those kinds of things. He thought it was 'interesting'." Shaking her head at that before a sigh. "Wrong, Kieran is older than me you know and he did take his throne before I took mine. I still have some sitting to do and well...I'm having the whole heir problem. All a matter of going through candidates these days." Shrugging lightly. "Kieran and I had never planning anything big like you had done."

"Yeah but if he's allowed to go wild there's no telling what he'll do. Especially if he has centuries of hate stored up and she couldn't have been very old either. She was young when she got puffy with me." Those were not nice thoughts to have running through his head about his mother. "I think you scared her too. Everyone's bigger than her, even me. Like this afternoon when I flung her off you and she went flying. I didn't mean to push her that hard...it just kind of happened...." Yes, he still felt bad about that. "Yeah. Lucky me. At least you wanted me and wouldn't let her kill me off." Yup, he knew about potions and the like. He'd been doing a bit of research on his own. "Cookies helped too."
