Michiyo Saruwatari Michiyo stared at school of fish swimming furiously around where the rock had fallen in, causing the water to foam. "R-Right," she replied weakly, trying very hard not to imagine what would happen should one of them fall in. She glanced back over her shoulder, wondering if it was too late to try and backtrack to the starting line, but to her surprise the tunnel had shut itself, a thick wooden door now blocking the way.
Swallowing thickly, she looked at the obstacle in front of them, judging the distances between the poles. It seemed do-able, but there was sure to be another catch. She looked to her side at Erin, debating if it wouldn't be a better idea to just team up and make it through alive and with all their appendages still attached. Who cared who was faster - this wasn't an obstacle course anymore, this was survival. What on earth had Komui been thinking, creating this? Never mind the Noah and the Earl, their maniacal supervisor would kill them all long before they ever got a chance.
"So," she started, unsure, "Any bright ideas?" She could probably get at least somewhere using Kusari, but there were no exposed beams on the surface to use, and the poles didn't look sturdy enough to take the strain of the chain winding around it, as she wasn't very confident in her ability to regulate it.
[[ And with that, I leave you~ It's bedtime for me, I'm afraid, but we are so definitely continuing this next time D: I still got that "Nightingale's Song' obstacle in mind, after all XD Goodnight! <3 ]] Erin thought for a long time as he watched the churning water. When he finally had an idea, he wondered why it had taken him so long to think of. Slipping his bow from this shoulder, he gripped it in one hand and looked to Michiyo again.
"I do have one idea...if you don't mind a little cheating," he grinned, "I could try and freeze the water with one of my arrows."
[ I didn't think of this until after I already made up the obstacle. sweatdrop Now it seems like the vicious fish are pointless. ]

[[ Lol, ah, but Komui wouldn't have thought of that when he designed it, so that's what the fish are there for <3
Thanks Sil~ And yush, I do love some zombies~ Luckily this one wasn't as gruesome and disturbing as the last D: ]]
"Will it manage such a large surface?" she asked, giving the bow an interested look. She hadn't even thought of using his Innocence, as she was still wondering a bit about what exactly it did. The only time she had seen him use it was during the attack, and her memories of that were vague at best. The thought of the water - and its vicious inhabitants - being rendered obsolete eased some of the tension out of her muscles, where it had been slowly building up ever so slightly as the obstacles became more and more dangerous.

"I'm not sure, but it's worth a try," he turned to the water again as he activated his Innocence.
When an arrow materialized in the quiver on his back, he reached over his shoulder and took the feathered end between his fingertips. He was careful not to ruffle the feathers, as that would affect the way the arrow flew. He easily brought the bow and arrow together, pulling back the taught string as he aimed at the center of the pool. When he released the arrow it shot towards the water at lightening speed, activating the frost on the tip. As is hit the pool, the top layer of water froze, about six inches thick. Moving from the arrow outwards, it almost make a snowflake pattern across the top. Erin moved up to the edge and looked down. He could still see the blobs that were the fish swimming around under the ice, so it was easy to tell he hadn't frozen the entire pool, only the top.
"It looks like there's only a thin layer on the top that actually froze. I'm not sure how thick it is, so I don't think we should try walking on it. But if one of us slips from a post, it will at least take longer to hit actual water," he informed her.
He kept his Innocence activated for good measure, but slung the bow back over his shoulder. Making a large stretch with his leg, he took the step up to the first pole, his arms out for balance. He managed to wiggle his foot so that only half of it was on the post, leaving an inch or two to bring his other foot to rest there also. It was almost harder to stand on the post with both feet close together, and he immediately lifted one leg up again as he swayed there. He didn't dare try and turn back to look at Michiyo.

Michiyo watched, fascinated, as the ice spread out across the pool, lines darting out in intricate patterns, crossing each other and filling up until the entire body of water was covered.
She just nodded at his explanation, stepping up to the edge as well, focusing on the poles still in front of her, the tension slowly but surely seeping back as the temporary hope for an easier way was dashed. She hesitated, glancing down onto the thin slick of ice, her eyes flying back as Erin started his attempt across, swaying on his first post.
Taking a deep breath to fight down the emerging panic, she also made her first step out onto a pole, starting the journey. Her heart jumped every time she wobbled slightly, or felt like she was losing her balance, before settling again though keeping up a much faster rhythm. Slowly she moved from post to post, the goal - a sort of dock on the other side - inching ever closer.

Erin kept his focus, as much as he wanted to watch Michiyo to be sure she was doing okay. They jumped from post to post at the same rate, almost completely in unison. His heart rate was up and he tried not to think of what lie beneath the surface of the ice. When he made the final leap from the last pole, relief filled him. Landing on the next platform, he immediately looked to see where Michiyo was.
