Peppermint Elf I went out and bought a shitload of egg painting kits today.... because they're good for dyeing yarn. I should mail Mala all of the stickers that came in them. xd Yes... yes you should. So... 5 hat generators landed me a FAQ Hat (flip people off in something like 6 different countries versions of The Bird), a YARLY (Evil owl hat), 2 YBHT's (Yes! Hat's Bloody Terrible... the troll hat... it has some nice settings), and a Royal Musketeer hat. Anyone interested in trades? I'm hoping to lose the musketeer hat since I already have one and one of the YHBTs. I'm torn on the FAQ since while I appreciate the ability to let my hat offend people from multiple countries off for me, it doesn't go so well with the ears. The YARLY and YHBT have some goddamn awesome settings, and a YARLY would be cool in real life.

I just made like...40k in under 10 seconds. gonk I literally hit submit on the vend when I got a PM saying that the item sold. I think it set a record for shortest vend - it was up all of 10 seconds. gonk Also, long hat is long? And - guys - Gaia gets raided over everything. s**t, we even raid ourselves. I doubt the admins would notice trolling attacks. sweatdrop Yep. Gaia gets raided just for being here... The 1% increase in volume is less noticable than the fact that they're using a different excuse. Also, I'd like to point out that the memes generally start other places than 4chan... often at SA, yet the 4channers are bitching that we stole their memes. Longcat might actually be the first one that started at 4chan. You'd think they'd be happy people stole their memes... wider proliferation of their influence and all. Isn't that what people want from their memes?

That should say something. Yeah, I can't figure out logically where all the Gaia haet comes from. The gaming boards seem to hate it muchly too. I understand the animu thing as that's kind of in-your-face by way of icons and sigs, but Gaia tends to be fairly self-contained. Of course, I don't know what it's like out there with them young'uns.

I'm reading this thread in /b/ where its the newfags bitching and screaming jihad while most of the oldbies point out that many of the memes were stolen by 4chan long ago and that raiding Gaia not only doesn't do s**t towards bringing the site down but ends up bringing Gaians to /b/, which is what got them the current crop of jackasses frothing over the thefts in the first place.

TweedleKeys I heartily agree. I am a Sunbow fan first, though there are elements of the comics/file cards that I do like. Every now and then I work on a somewhat flippant summary of the Marvel run. They were full of silly things for all their ability to actually kill people. Beatnik Cobra Commander! Blind Master attacking people with a ball-peen hammer! Baroness calling Zarana "Badger Barf" (well, Zarana did call Baroness a "Liberal" ...kind of amazing what the 80s were like.) I'm actually half rooting for a Sgt. Slaughter cameo in there, as much as I hated him. I have no idea what that guy looks like now. The movie already seems to have too many characters though. DD just got really soap opera-y really fast. Baroness' baby? Ugh ugh ugh. They did try to work in some references to the Sunbow series, but I think they went too angsty. Also, DD kind of felt especially anti-women. Scarlett got herself captured like 4-5 times. Jaye was killed. And, let me say it again, Baroness' baby. Ugh. I did really like the GI Joe: Declassified miniseries they put out by Hama though. I also liked some of Frontline before the killed it, especially the Beach Head issue. I want to try out some of the special missions as they look not bad. I really don't know what would sell as a GI Joe comic. I fear with the license ending this Summer and the movie on a horizon, it will be a cheap movie tie in. Maybe they'll give it a rest for another 8 years or so. (Oh, another comic I liked was the WWII GI Joe/Transformers crossover... yeah it was kind of weird having Grimlock be a WWII tank and Bumblebee a old-style motorcycle, but it was surprisingly good for its 4 issues.) Sigma 6' Cobra Commander outfit was really.... uh, yeah. It had its moments and I would probably take it over DiC, but yeah. Too bad it vaguely is the continuation of the ReelFX, what with the guantlets and what not. I do hope the movie makes someone re-release the Sunbow DVDs. I was not in a position to buy them when they came out and now they are out of print and expensive sad
Oh, man. I'd pee myself if Slaughter showed. xd He's dreadful but over the years I think I've come to secretly love him. Just a little. I can only imagine how he's got to look; he'd already really let himself go by the time he was doing the Joe spots and it's been quite a while.
That was my biggest problem with the DD stuff. They seemed like they were trying to be cooler by being really serious, but instead just made it a little too melodramatic. It was hard to tell whether they were trying to embrace the old Sunbow material or distance themselves from it entirely. The art got better with time but the story was never really there. Killing off Jaye was the beginning of the end for me. I was never a big fan of her, but it still felt way too wrong.
The baby. xd I don't remember, but I don't think I got much past the point where they realized she was zomgpregnant, but that was enough.
I like my Joe where everyone manages to eject and pull their parachute at the last minute. No matter what. And Roadblock rhymes. Badly.
I never got around to most of the Declassified stuff. I read the Snake Eyes one, but everything else came out after I'd tapered off buying the comic. I don't really care for Snakes, so it didn't do much for me.
Ugh! The WWII crossover. T____T I really, really wanted to get it because I heard it was great, but it was long out of print by the time I heard about it. I tried finding issues, but I had a hard time finding any sellers and the best prices I found would've had me shelling out about $100 for the miniseries.
Yeah. crying Sigma 6...I wasn't keen on it at first, then I saw CC. I changed the station. My love of a Joe incarnation is based almost entirely on the Commander and Sigma 6 wasn't doing it for me.
I was broke when the DVDs came out too. They were out of print but I had to have them, so I spent a small fortune. One of the sets even ended up being defective and I couldn't return it, so I got stuck buying it twice. gonk But they never released the second part of the second season, so I'm still out of luck.
