Quite good. Lots of stuff to do even after finishing the main storyline. My main character has maxed out his level in all 12 jobs, and one job he's maxed out three times! (After beating the game and reaching level 99, you can reset that job to level 1 and go again... and again... and again)
There are certain bosses - Legacy Bosses - which I consider the game's ultimate challenge. If you've never played a previous DQ game, then the Legacy Bosses are just super-hard monsters that can wipe out a party with relative ease. BUT! ... if you have played other games in the series, then you might recognize some familiar faces! Every Legacy Boss is from one of the first eight Dragon Quest games, right down to their introductory speech, combat strategy, and battlefield background.

I know there are plenty of people who have the game, unfortunately they don't seem to bother going around with the game in Tag Mode. (If you Tag someone else's DQIX, your characters will each appear in the other's game. You can unlock stuff by Tagging enough people)
Anyway...
More about Legacy Bosses. They all begin at level 1. Each time you beat them you have the option of taking the Exp. as usual, or giving it back to the boss. If you give it back, their level goes up by one. As they level up, they learn new moves, stronger spells, and just get tougher all-around. Also, they drop more gold and different items as they grow. I've got one boss at Level 99 and another at 73.
(And some of the items the bosses drop are necessary to Alchemize the best gear in the game)

And then once you defeat it you have to go out and train some more cause you received no exp. Wow!! Which means the game really doesn't lose it's playability for a while! :3

Well, by the time the bosses get to around level 50, you pretty much need to be level 99. And as they continue to grow, your tactics will need to improve as well. That level 73 boss I've been raising? I had a Mage in my party up to about level 55. By then, she was too much of a liability and I switched her to a Warrior. More HP, Def, and no risk of a spell being Reflected back. (This boss can cast Bounce, which is similar to Final Fantasy's Reflect spell)
Side note: If it's Exp you're after, there are easier monsters worth far more than a Legacy Boss.
Legacy Boss (lv 1) = roughly 60-70k exp, depending on the specific boss.
Metal King Slime = 120k exp, and can be killed in a single hit (with a little luck)
Platinum Jewel King = 240k exp, and also OHKO bait.
If either of you pick up a copy of the game, you can figure out for yourself which skills are the ones to use on Metal Slimes.

If you know other people who also have the game, you can even play multiplayer together. No online multiplayer, unfortunately. Just direct local wireless. I've spent over 600 hours in DQIX. Only Pokemon games have ever been as addicting.

Thanks for passing my mission and everything Tommy but I decided I want to edit the mission. So until then, I reject your pass! razz Haha! I bet none of you were expecting that! I am going to try and remake the stuff that you pointed out. Maybe the names, more realistic battles, and more story into it. And I believe it is a level 2 mission actually.
