((Awwww Kiah loves me most because she didn't want to cut me in half. ;u; <3 JACK YOU CAN'T TRY TO KILL ME THEN BEG FOR MY LOVE D: That's like... creepy serial killer status!
Also, hello really long post... you guys can blame Kiah for this >:U ))
Kiah's obvious poker innocence left many of the men chuckling in amusement at her, and Sil tried to keep the evil glint from showing in her eyes.
"Come sit right down here sweetheart, we'll show you how to play," one of the men drawled, patting a seat for Kiah to sit down in next to him. He was a burly man; probably a railroad or shipyard worker with plenty of dirty muscle to show. He grinned at Kiah, one of his teeth missing like a jack-o-lantern.
"This is going to be so much fun!" Sil exclaimed ditzily; anyone who knew her knew it was completely fake, and she collapsed unsteadily into the chair. She pulled out some money from her pocket and slapped it onto the table. "So is it five cards? I forget!"

The gambling went by rather successfully-- well, for Sil anyway. Kiah's utter newness to the style of poker they were playing helped cover up when Sil managed to sweep the table, making it look a lot less like sharking and a lot more like Sil had some drunk luck on her side. By the time they finished their bout of gambling Sil had made sure that they had doubled the amount that Kiah had lost. With the way money was flowing in and out of the two woman's hands, it would have been rather difficult for the drunk strangers to figure out if they had come out even, on top or below what they had begun playing with.
Finally, bidding the gentlemen goodnight, Sil ushered Kiah towards the pub door to make sure they could get out of sight and out of mind before any of the men checked their combined money. It was better to sneak out while ahead. Once they were in the fresh night air, Sil couldn't help but laugh. The evening had been exhilarating. It was honestly fun to trick and connive when no one else really was hurt in the process, and the way the men had fun letting Sil con them out of double their money had been priceless. It had gone disturbingly well considering how those adventures usually ended in a brawl. "See? Great place, huh? And you did great whether you believe me or not! I bet you learned something about poker tonight, too! You ready to head home?"
The streets had emptied even more than before and an eerie silence had come over the English town. Even though they weren't speaking very loudly, their voices felt twice their volume when competing with nothing more than the wind. Just as Sil mentioned home, footsteps crunched out from the darkness and the form of a rather large men stepped into the lights emanating at the pub that was now a distance from them.
"Evenin', ladies," one of the gentleman said, his eyes squinted in a way that Sil immediately knew was bad news for them. They were dark and cold, and his grin could have peeled the paper straight off of a wall. It was a smile that said that he had total control over the situation and he knew he would get what he wanted. Sil moved to inch in front of Kiah, meaning to keep the girl behind her if the man tried to attack. As she was just about to grab Kiah and run, three other forms stepped out from the other directions, forming a rather formidable circle around the two. "Now us poor gents are a little down on our luck... mind lendin' us a few pence?"
