Erin counted down, "Three...two..one!" he pressed the button on his watch at the last second before starting into a short sprint.
Making it to the wall quickly, he immediately started to climb. His hands and feet moved in unison from rock to rock, finding the best places to grip and support his feet. It didn't take him too long to reach the top, and he only took a split second to look below before jumping down on the other side. It looked like a soft, sandy landing, so he wasn't too concerned. The moment his feet hit though, he regretted his hasty decision. His feet immediately sunk into holes up to his mid calf. It was quicksand.
"Oh ********," he swore under his breath.
He looked around for something that he could latch onto, trying not to move around more than necessary as he knew that would speed up the sinking. He noticed ropes dangling from the ceiling a couple feet in front of him. He took a shallow breath and slowly started to reach for the rope. He kept looking up, anxious for Michiyo to reach the other side too. Part of him wanted to warn her before she lept, but the other part still wanted to win the race.

At the start signal, she ran towards the wall. Up close, she noticed that some rocks jutted out, and made hand- and footholds, and slowly but surely she started to make her way to the top, almost loosing her balance once or twice, but managing to hold on. It was a bit tougher than it had looked from the ground, but then again, she had not really been working on any kind of stamina since she first joined the Order, so she wasn't surprised that she was out of breath when she reached the top.
Looking down, she saw the mount of sand on the other side. It would still be a long way down, but it seemed like a safe enough jump and she was about to take the leap when she noticed Erin struggling at the bottom. Leaning over the edge and squinting down, she realized that instead of walking on the sand, he was in the sand and quickly put two and two together.
Standing back up, she scanned the immediate area for something that could help, and her eyes also fell on the ropes swaying softly. They were too far away to jump, but that didn't matter. It would only be a little cheating, she told herself as Kusari started to glow and unfold around her waist, rushing forward to wind around the nearest rope and then coiling back around her body, pulling the rope in until she could grab onto it. Kusari once again inactivated, she clutched onto it and swung down, unable to resist the urge to laugh aloud at the speed as she rushed down, barely having time to wave at him as she sped by Erin wading through the sand.
She came to a pretty abrupt stop on a small wooden platform at the edge of the sandpit. The only way further was through a narrow dark tunnel fabricated out of the same dark stone as the wall, leading off to who-knew-where. Her senses on alert, she slowly moved towards the entrance and then took a few steps into the tunnel, hesitant to see what would happen.
Something clicked beneath her foot, and on her left side one of the rocks slid away to reveal light glinting off the sharp end of an arrow. She barely had enough time to jump back before it let loose and hit the other side of the narrow tunnel with a sharp snap. Eyes widening in shock, Michiyo saw that at the exact spot where the arrow had hit, the stone started to bubble and hiss, and melt away. "Seriously?" she muttered incredulously, "As if the arrow alone wasn't deadly enough, you add acid?" Shaking her head at the disturbed mind of their supervisor, she sank to her haunches again, inspecting the floor of the tunnel for anything that might reveal which stones were booby-trapped.

Erin heard the elated voice of Michiyo and he watched as she cheated and then swung down like Jane in the story of Tarzan. He scowled and latched onto his own rope, pulling himself from the sand with effort. He flopped onto the platform, panting, and hoisted himself up. He had just enough time as he looked up, to see Michiyo disappear into the dark tunnel. He felt around in his pockets for anything that might help as he stepped to the edge himself. It seemed he had forgotten his small flashlight though, and he stomped the ground a little. Then he remembered the watch on his wrist, and though it would barely give off any light, at least it was something.
He pulled his sleeve back again and pressed the light button on his watch, a dim blue glow appearing only about a foot around the watch. It was practically useless, but he held it up anyway as he started to move forwards. He blinked in the darkness, trying to get his eyes to adjust to the dank conditions. Stepping on his own trap stone, one that Michiyo had missed, he heard the compartment open. He knew something bad was going to shoot out at him, so he leapt forward, not caring what he might step on next. His arms swung out as he leaped, and his sleeve fell down over his watch, casting total darkness again. A dart, no doubt laced with some kind of potion, missed him by an inch and hit the other wall, falling to the ground. He shuddered a little at the thought of what he may have turned into if he had been hit. He continued on blindly, and after two steps more, his legs caught on Michiyo who was still inspecting the ground. Stumbling, he lost his balance and fell forward over the girl, thudding to the ground hard.
"Jesuschrist!" he yelled as his body fell through the air, his heart in his throat.
