Again, Althena held out her arms, psychic energy surging through her limbs. The flames lashed up against the barrier she'd created and broke through soon after. Althena let out a pained cry, looking at her arms and stomach in dismay. She'd been burned this time, although being attacked by fire again and again would eventually yield that status. Once again she demanded Mori to fire, and once again the Flamethrower broke through her attempt to block it. This process repeated for quite some time before Keegan decided to stop. By now, Mori could barely stand from fatigue, and he didn't hesitate to recall the pony. "Don't worry, Althena," the redhead said reassuringly. "You'll get it." He bent down and scooped up the little Psyduck, cradling her in his arms. "Let's go get these burns treated, hmm?" Nodding, Althena closed her eyes and rested her head against her trainer's chest, her mind replaying each and every Flamethrower that had gotten through. She wasn't worried, though. For some reason, the Psyduck could sense that her power was growing rapidly, and soon something wonderful would happen.

Keegan had Mori and Althena treated once more, this time however, he didn't go back to the gym upon leaving the Pokemon Center. Instead, he wandered around for a bit, finding an all-night diner and sitting down to a rather late supper. When he finally finished, he paid his bill and headed back outside, noting that the sun had finally started to rise. Taking his time, he stopped at a coffee shop, and picked up several cups of coffee and hot cocoa, and arrived back at the gym in time to see Nina coming outside. "Good morning," he said cheerfully, holding out the tray. "Coffee? Hot cocoa?"

Kasiya drummed her fingers on the countertop, waiting patiently for the return of her Pokemon. A nurse came out from the back room, and turned on the television mounted on the wall. Kasiya glanced up at it, realizing there was a live, televised battle going on at that exact moment. Judging by the ticker at the bottom of the television, it was being held at the Game Corner in Celadon. "They must have revamped the place," Kasiya thought, remembering how she and Mike (well mostly Mike) had done a number on the place. Kasiya continued to watch, blinking when she saw one of the contenders. "Kilik?" she asked, going a bit closer to the screen. It was indeed Kilik, and instantly the girl wondered if he'd slept at all. "He looks exhausted," she observed, tilting her head and smiling a bit. "Cocky as ever," she chuckled, watching him smirk at the girl he was battling. "Give her hell," she nodded, turning from the television as another nurse called over to her to reclaim her Pokemon. "Thank you," she said, releasing Seto before placing them back in their places on her belt. The Persian was looking well, the bruises completely gone now. She patted him on the head, and the duo headed outside, going back towards the gym.

As they neared it, Kasiya could see Keegan, as well as Nina. Thinking to herself that today was definitely going to be a better day, she approached them, waving eagerly. "Morning, guys!" she said, pushing all thoughts of her terrifying dream from her mind. After all, that's all it was, wasn't it? A dream.

"Heh, I love it when people play into my hand. Poliwag now, into the puddle on the ground! Ice Beam!" As Poliwag lost momentum and started to free fall, the little pokemon began to charge another ice beam from within his small body. Within seconds the powerful jagged beam of sub zero energy was released into the ground and into the water that was left from the water gun. The puddle splashed in every direction as the dropps instantly froze and became tiny flying spears that would only do little damage if any, but the wet ground froze quickly and jagged ice spikes began to rise from the ground with a giant pillar like one forming at the base that rose up into the air. Poliwag landed safely on the pillar panting and out of breath, that may just have been his final attack for the time being as they waited to see what became of the hopefully skewered Krabby.

Still a little shaken by her encounter with the Onix, Miharu and Starrie continued to make their way through the remainder of Union Cave. The small girl had been certain that the trip would be easier with a light source this time around, but it wasn’t proving to be the case as she took several wrong turns and prolonged her trip through the dark, dank cave much longer than she would have liked. Also to Miharu’s displeasure, the duo encountered several annoying Zubat along the way, most of which seemed to have taken a liking to swooping down and trying to clip at either her or the Staryu with their sharp little teeth or wings.
After several grueling hours of travel, Miharu could finally see light filtering in through the entrance. “Finally,” she murmured, slowing her bike to a steady pace. She recalled Starrie back into its Poke Ball, thanking the star-shaped Pokemon for its help in the cavern. Upon pushing her bike out into the open, she could see that the sun was low in the sky and setting rapidly, giving her only a few hours of daylight to try and find a Mareep. She hadn’t been to this place in several weeks now, but it still looked the same as she remembered it. There was a Pokemon Center located near the entrance to Union Cave, something Miharu remembered being thankful for a few days before she made her way to Azalea. A wistful smile crept across her young features as she recalled that morning.

It was a gorgeous morning in Violet City, and a sleepy Miharu emerged from the Pokemon Center, still looking a little unsteady after a shaky win over Falkner the previous evening. This was before she’d captured Starrie, so the only two Pokemon she had with her were Tingle (who at the time was still a rambunctious Beldum) and a rather inexperienced young Bulbasaur. Lily had been practically torn apart by Falkner’s Spearow alone; the poor grass type didn’t survive more than two strikes from the crafty and strong little bird. Miharu was still furious with herself for thinking so poorly about who to send into the battle, as her mind kept replaying the vicious peck attacks the sparrow landed on the helpless Bulbasaur. The result of that battle had left Lily in intensive care in the Pokemon Center, which only added to the small girl’s guilt.

A heavy sigh escaped her as she slowly plodded along, holding Tingle’s Pokeball in her hand as she made her way through the city, basically just waiting patiently for Lily to be released from the ICU. Miharu soon found herself standing at the edge of the city limits, looking down the road that would lead to Union Cave and the next town. It was too soon to be venturing out, and slowly Miharu turned around to head back to town to check on Lily again. It was then she heard someone calling to her, and she glanced back to see a rather full-bodied man waving to her, clad in sturdy hiking gear. A large pack was strapped to his back, and even though he was a large man, he looked fit and ready to climb any mountain the world dared throw at him. As predicted, the hiker had approached her and asked for a battle, which she’d reluctantly agreed to. Still feeling a bit depressed from the previous evening’s encounter with Falkner, Miharu was hoping that perhaps a fresh fight would pull her out of her little slump.

Right from the beginning of the fight, Miharu knew that it wasn’t going to be an easy one. The hiker pulled a Great Ball from his pack and threw it forward, revealing a two-armed rock Pokemon, a pair of eyes staring back at the girl through its rocky features. Miharu gulped, desperately wishing she had Lily here with her, and nervously tossed out Tingle’s Poke Ball. The floating appendage appeared before them, blinking its one, round eye at the Geodude before it. Rotating on an unseen axis, Tingle turned to look at its trainer for a moment, and upon getting a nod, faced its opponent once more upon completing a full rotation. Not having much choice at all, Miharu ordered Tingle to attack with its only move, Take Down. The Beldum streaked through the air, its metallic body making direct contact with the Hiker’s Geodude, causing a resonating clang to ring through the air. The Geodude’s body was relatively unharmed, although the same could not be said for Tingle. The Beldum currently suffered a massive dent in its side; mainly due the recoil damage it had taken, paired with the ineffectuality of the attack itself. Brute force against solid stone would not be the way to get through this battle, which Miharu knew as soon as she’d seen the rock type sent out in front of her. The Hiker had his Geodude counter with a Rock Throw, but Tingle’s momentum allowed it to escape harm for now. The Beldum hovered above the ground, its single red eye staring unflinchingly at its foe, awaiting its next command even though it had only one attack to its name. Miharu grit her teeth and clenched a fist by her side, and instead of ordering Tingle to attack, she told it to concentrate on dodging the attacks sent its way by the Geodude. This proved to be a good plan as the Geodude launched itself forward, attempting to hit the fleeing Beldum with a Tackle, but Tingle managed to evade it rather easily. The next several rounds of battle consisted of Geodude attacking rather consistently, and missing for the most part, although a few hits were landed, and Tingle’s normally shiny, smooth exterior was now covered in scratches, scuff marks and dents.

A slight breeze ruffled her green hair, and Miharu smiled, closing her eyes. “That was quite a battle,” she said to herself, allowing a smile to creep across her face.

Miharu gulped; Tingle was in trouble. As odd as the Beldum was, she didn’t want to see him get hurt unnecessarily. Her trembling hand held up his Poke Ball, ready to recall him. Tingle mad an odd sort of humming noise as the Geodude smashed up against it, bringing them both to the ground. It was then that Tingle started to glow. His body grew larger, the strain on the metal smoothing out the worst of his dents and scuffs. As the light faded away, Tingle hovered above the Geodude below him, a pair of ruby-red eyes glaring down at the rock, and a pair of arms, each ending in sharp claws glistened in the sunlight, ready to strike. Miharu stared in amazement at her Pokemon – Tingle had evolved! Into what, she didn’t know, but somehow, she did know that Tingle would now be able to pull himself through the rest of the battle. Rearing back, the Metang lashed out, a claw shining as he brought it down hard for a critical-strike Metal Claw. The Geodude had little time to react, bringing its arm up defensively in front of its face and trying to use Defense Curl to lessen the damage. This would prove to be futile as Metang finished off his opponent by levitating it with Confusion, then slamming it down on the ground. The Geodude struggled to get up once more, but couldn’t, and victory was Miharu and Tingle’s.

Miharu smiled again, opening her eyes. Tingle had evolved into a Metang that day, and had become a lot stronger. The small girl didn't know if it would evolve again, but either way, she was proud of how far her first Pokemon had come since it was a small Beldum.

Victreebel’s shrieks rang out throughout the air as Fearow sliced into him once more, although the Flycatcher was quick to react by lashing out with his vine, wrapping it tightly around the bird’s midsection and holding it fast. “Giga Drain!” Jaeshan commanded, even though the attack wouldn’t be very effective. The bird tried desperately to free himself, fighting both the poison in its system as well as the vine that was constricting his body. He lunged with his beak, planting a sharp Peck into Victreebel’s side just as the latter initiated the draining effects of his own attack. A wispy green aura surrounded them both; taking away some of Fearow’s health and flowing into Victreebel’s mangled and battered body. Jaeshan knew his Pokemon couldn’t take much more of this, and was prepared to recall him.

Lisa, glad to have the upper hand at last, even though her Pokemon was currently bound to the other, stood with her hands planted firmly on her hips, a happy smirk on her face. Jaeshan had bested her once before, and she wasn’t about to let it happen a second time. “Don’t hold anything back, Fearow! Fury Attack! Make him let you go!” Hearing its trainer’s confident voice, Fearow did just that, laying into Victreebel with an assault of vicious pecks. Five times its beak sank into the fleshy underside of Victreebel’s body, and with each successive hit Victreebel’s pain became more evident. Knowing that his friend could no longer continue, Jaeshan recalled him, thinking for a moment who to send out next.

It really was a nice day. Thankfully, it was a good temperature-- they hadn't really had a scorcher of a day yet, and Nina wanted like to keep it that way. She never liked the heat, which is part of the reason she was attracted to Water-type Pokemon. She felt very much at ease at times when she was in the water, perhaps when she was swimming, and having Water Pokemon reminded her of that feeling.

My god, she thought, what the heck type of a Gym Leader can I classify myself as? I love Ghost Pokemon, Dragons, Normal types, Water Pokemon... agh! I need to think of a theme that doesn't overlap with the other Leaders of the region before I start collecting Pokemon to breed for my own team... There's so few choices I have, though! What-- Bugs, Psychics, Darks, Birds, and Steel-types. Her train of thought stopped for a moment. Well... I really should raise Psychic types, to keep the tradition going-- people'd hate me if they found out that I was changing the type of Pokemon used for Saffron City. I could just... raise different Psychic Pokemon, that's all. Yeah. Mimien can breed with almost every single one of the Gym Pokemon I've got now, so maybe I'll breed him with a couple, and then go on to capture a few others... Yeah. That works.

Looking up as she heard Kasiya's voice calling to her, Nina smiled and waved back. "Kass, hey! Good morning!" She went off towards her friends,
Rai and Whitney walking out through the Gym door a split second after she had done so.

Realizing then that it was getting late, Miharu made her way towards the nearby Pokemon Center, thoughts of the her battle with the hiker still fresh in her mind. It wasn't until she was about to enter when she heard that same gruff voice calling out to her.

"Hey you!" he called, and Miharu turned to look at her. "Yeah, you! Remember me? We battled here several weeks ago, and I've been hoping to challenge you to a rematch. Whaddya say?"

Miharu grinned then, for it was the same hiker she'd battled on that very day. "I think I would like that very much," she nodded, then bit her lower lip. "Want to make it a double battle, two each?" she asked.

"Sounds good to me," the hiker laughed, patting his round stomach. "Ladies first," he said, giving a slight bow.

Miharu giggled a bit, and held up two of her Poke Balls. "Let's make this a good one, girls!" she said before throwing them both. Aska the Pidgey and Lily the Bulbasaur appeared at their trainer's feet, and Aska didn't hesitate to flap her wings and take to the sky.

"This could be bad," the hiker frowned, looking at his own two Poke Balls in dismay. "Oh well, we hikers are known for overcoming all obstacles! Let's go, Graveler and Machop!" A small, grey Pokemon appeared, slashing the air with its hands, and looking at its two opponents carefully. Tingle wasn't the only Pokemon who had evolved, for the hiker's Geodude was now a much larger Graveler. Miharu stepped back, ready to begin. Her Pokemon had an advantage (although Aska would be in trouble if it came down to just her and the Graveler), and this fact helped to boost her troubled confidence.

Keegan turned at the sound of Kasiya's voice, balancing the tray of cups in his usual professional manner. His expression brightened at the sight of the girl, as usual, and he returned the wave. "Good morning," he said, looking around as Rai and Whitney came outside as well. "Where's Maven?" he asked, looking between the two groups. "I didn't know what anyone liked or disliked, so there's coffee and hot chocolate for everyone," he nodded, setting the tray on a bench. "Help yourselves," he added, taking a coffee for himself, and turning to go back into the gym to get the rest of his Pokemon and belongings. He spotted Maven upon entering the gym, looking wistfully at the arena. "Good morning, Maven," he called cheerfully. "There's coffee or hot chocolate outside if you want some," he added, doffing an imaginary hat as he headed down the hall. As he entered the boys' dormitory, an unexpected sight met his green eyes.

Apparently, Artemis and Loki were having a play-battle, as about three copies of the blue and red bird zipped by the redhead's nose upon entering the room. They were chased by Loki, who was firing Poison Stings as fast as he could. His gaze then turned to Themis, who was jumping up and down on a bed, trying to brush the ceiling with his paws. All three miscreants stopped in their tracks at the sight of their trainer's annoyed stare, as Artemis's Double Team came to an abrupt end, and she was slammed by Loki, who finally caught the smaller bird, sending them both to the floor. Themis crawled down from the bed, putting on his best innocent look, but Keegan clearly wasn't buying it. However, in the far end of the room, he could see that Tierra was behaving, mainly because she was still sound asleep. "Can't leave you three alone for a minute, now can I?" he asked, shaking his head. Loki pulled himself up and nodded happily, only to be batted in the head by a wing from Artemis. "Like children," Keegan sighed.

Joeseph and Grossberg both chuckled at the boy's joke. "Mr. Ranmo, I believe I'll stay up top," the larger man spoke, "Last time I was down there, it took the crew nearly thirty minutes to get me out of that hole!" Both men laughed again.

"Ah, I see, Grossberg! Be careful up here," Joeseph explained, "Call us on the Nav if you need anything." Joeseph disappeared into the cave, taking his cane and twisting off the rubber piece at the bottom that was used to steady it. A bright light emitted from the walking stick and he smiled over his shoulder, "Always be prepared." Mr. Ranmo moved further into the cave, whistling to himself.

"Ooh, thank you, Keegan," Kasiya said, looking them over carefully before she selected a cup of hot chocolate. "Maven's still inside, I think." She took a sip, letting the chocolaty goodness warm her insides. "Now all I need is a hearty breakfast, and I'll be set," the girl nodded, wrapping both hands around the steaming cup and enjoying the warmth that seeped into her fingers. Seto seemed to agree, as a rumble came from his stomach. The Persian licked his lips a bit before sauntering over to Nina and rubbing his head against her leg, purring loudly so as to show that he harbored no hard feelings over the previous night's battle.

"Aska, use a Gust attack on that Machop!" Miharu said earnestly. "Lily, use your Razor Leaf on Graveler!" Her orders issued, Miharu smiled, waiting for the battle to unfold.

Aska let out a cry and flew forwards, flapping her wings rapidly and kicking up a miniature tornado, which she directed towards the Machop. The little fighter could do nothing to stop it, only braced himself for impact, grunting as the attack connected. Lily stepped up next, uttering a single "Bulba!" before a steady stream of leaves filed out of the bulb on her back, and were fired towards the Graveler.

"Graveler, Defense Curl!" the hiker bellowed, tucking his arms close to his body in imitation of his Pokemon's move. Graveler complied, curling itself into a ball in order to conceal any weak points. The leaves slashed across his body, leaving slight gashes in his ruddy skin, but not doing as much damage as Miharu or Lily would have hoped. "Now Machop, Focus Energy! Hit 'em hard!"

"Maaa-chooop!" came the cry from the small grayish Pokemon, flexing its powerful arms. A glint of fury shone in its eyes as he let his adrenalin start pumping, and each muscle in his body seemed to bulk up in response to his newfound fury.

"I'll show you!" Rebecca barked, "Nobody messes with Rebecca Moore!" she sliced the air with her arm and pointed to Weezing, "Golduck! Use Psychic!" The red jewel that adorned the center of the blue duck's forehead began to glow brightly, a light blue aura surrounding him.

"Damn!" Kilik winced, "I hate Psychic-types so much!" his fists clenched tightly as he narrowed his eyebrows and looked at Weezing. When the same blue aura appeared around him, the Pokemon let out a yelp. He closed his eyes tightly and felt a massive migraine coming on. He was thrown upwards into the sky then landed onto the ground with a massive crash. The entire audience was torn on whether to cheer or to go with an 'Oooh!', so it sounded more like a disgusting mixture of the two. Kilik shook his head.

"Yeah! How do you like them apples, Kilik?!" She punched the air with her fist, which drew massive cheers from the crowd. All the camera were now focused on her. She winked at one. "Be sure to capture my good side when I win!" she held up her fingers in a peace-sign and winked again. Suddenly, her expression changed and she glanced over at Kilik. "What're you smirking at!"

He was smirking, but not at her. His attention was directed at the floor. The crowd died down again and it was nearly silent, if it wasn't for the light whirring of the cameras as they focused on him. "Did you honestly think that would work?!" Kilik lifted his head and laughed, "C'mon, Rebecca! You're going to need to try harder than that if you want to put me down!" Still no reaction from anyone.

He continued, "Weezing's faced monsters more than three times the size of your Golduck and thrice as deadly." He crossed his arms over his chest, "Even with that Super Effective Psychic, it'll take more to put Weezing down!" With that said, the Pokemon hovered up and quivered for a moment, before being absolutely certain. The crowd still did nothing. Kilik's ear twitched when he heard someone drop a soda can. "So...how do you like them apples, Rebecca?" Suddenly, an explosion of cheers so loud, it nearly caused both trainers to fall over. Whistles and clapping. "Let's get back on track! Show Golduck what you did to Dewgong! Thunderbolt!"

"No! NO!" She shook his head, clenching her fists where she stood. Her eyes were focused on the bits of electricity that were now flickering out of Weezing's pores. All the gas inside the Pokemon was now becoming super charged. Bolts sparked out of the holes dotted along his entire form and eventually, he let out a cry. All the pent up static burst from every opening and collected into one bolt, directed at Golduck. "Dodge it!" she cried. Though the duck had managed to jump out of the way to avoid most of the blast, the bolt connected with his tail. A very loud cheer covered up the cry that the Pokemon emitted. He fell to the ground with a thud before standing up weakly and shaking.

Kilik smirked again. "You know you can give up now, right?"

"Not a chance!"

Cameras circled around the two, in almost a dance. Each one was getting great footage of Kilik, Rebecca, Weezing, and Golduck. A few of the reporters smiled. This was definately going to be a top story.

Watching the match with interest, Levi was hanging off the railing by now. Dante's eye's were drawn to the people with what looked like camera's over there shoulder. Upon seeing them he shuddered slightly, he had never been too fond of camera's, in fact whenever he was caught under them he seemed to freeze up or totally freak out. "I wonder why there are camera's here." He muttered to himself.

"The camera's have always been here. They taped all of your match's, why did you never notice them before?" Leon asked as he took a seat next to Dante.

"Th-they did?" He managed to choke out, he could feel his body starting to stiffen up, his hands were twitching though.

"Oh yeah, the camera loves you kid." Leon laughed before slapping Dante hard on his back.

"I think I am going to be sick." Dante muttered quietly before grabbing Levi and dashing out of the arena one hand over his mouth. Running to the locker room Dante finally started to feel a bit better, though there was a bit of a cold sweat on him now. Leaning against the wall he took a few deep breath's before relaxing fully. Going over to his locker he opened it up and pulling out his bag he looped it over his shoulder. Now would be as good a time as any to take a small break and maybe get some shopping in for his pokemon. That and he still needed to teach Apollo that Solar Beam TM that he bought.

((I bought a Solar Beam TM, but I dont think it was ever taken out of my money. I am going to go shopping and pick up a few more TM's though so you can take it away then if you want.))
