It's held the last weekend in September, Friday evening then all day Saturday and until 5pm on Sunday. We just had it this past weekend, so you have a full year to plan for the next time around. You can save up the money to pay for the credit if your college doesn't pay for you. 3nodding

I'll be graduated, and I'm going to take a year off and work on paying off loans, then (hopefully) go for my graduate degree.

But I don't know where I'll be or what I'll be doing or how much money I'll have- and I honestly am interested in the course!

Just take it for fun then. Way cheaper and it's still a blast.

I don't know what we're doing for next year, we don't really pick out our lineup until about six months before the event.

Timbaland? That's H.O.V. himself, Jay-Z.

Hey, leave me alone. I don't listen to that crap.

Pfft. Contemporary rock is so lacking, it's all lyrically empty emo-bullshit and dinosaurs. I find hip hop to be a much more compelling scene to follow these days.

But like d**k said, H.O.V. has naught but a public school HS diploma and he's built an empire to make David Bowie turn a subtle shade of green. That and he's a big DC fan. His Kingdom Come album, while probably the weakest in his catalogue, was named after the comic after all.

Maybe some of us like dinosaurs xp

Honestly, I'm starting to come around to hip-hop.

Well it ought to be stated for the record that my i-pod is home to such things as Led Zeppelin, Rhianna, Nine Inch Nails, Lil Wayne, and Frank Sinatra to give you a bit of a cross section. I go through phases.

Give a few of these a whirl if you want to approach hip hop from a rock perspective:

- Almost anything by The Beastie Boys. Their producer Rick Rubin has worked with everyone from Jay Z to Slayer. Slayer actually provided the back beat to at least one Beastie Boys song.

- Jay-Z/Linkin Park: Collision Course

- 99 Problems by Jay-Z. Another Rick Rubin production.

- Hip Hop is Dead by Nas. Samples "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple to great effect.

- Everlast. He pretty much pioneered the whole White Boy Does Rap thing back in the day when he was with a little outfit called House of Pain.

- Buck 65. He's what would have happened if Tom Waits discovered hip hop.
- Handlebars by The Flobots. Solid political type song from a ska inspired hip hop group out of Denver.

- Saul Williams. Innovative hip hop artist, political activist, and arguably the best slam poet in the world. And yes, that's exactly who you think it is on that track. He's Saul's new producer.

- Low (Travis Barker Remix) by Flo Rida My biggest guilty pleasure of 2008. Made even better by the fact that it's not a drum loop and him actually on live instruments. He's done similar remixes of Rhianna's Umbrella and Souljah Boy's Crank That, among others.

- Jay Z mocks Liam Gallagher, covers AC-DC

- Snoop Dogg covers Metallica. For the lulz.

I always half-expect them to break out into yodeling during the "low" parts...

Spiffy. My cousin took me to see them at a bar in '06. She was like "Hey, my friends from high school have a sweet band, want to go see them?" So when Fight With Tools came out, I was trying to figure out why they sounded so familiar, it took me about a month to remember that's who it was. rofl

Ever had a time where there was something you want to do, but not sure if you should?

You see, my brother and I have always wanted to visit Japan, since we where Teens (well Tom/Scott Pilgrim the Basest, my brother is sill 17) So, he tell me there is this thing to sign up at his school for a 11 day trip in June to Japan for $3,500 witch cover air fair, hotel, food, guid, and such. Witch is cool and all, but i don't know. It would be fun, but i would rather go on my own terms with Friends and Family. Not being told where and when to go with a classfull of strangers. Tom really want me to come, saying it won't be nearly as fun with out me. It not like the money would be a proble, I'm sure between now and then, I would be able save up for that.

But I'm just not sure. Does any one have any insight on this?

Well what kind of school is it? That would be a large determining factor in your level of freedom.

I'm a big advocate of jumping in without a Plan. I like loose plans but otherwise? It's about the experience, no capital letters. I'm all about cheap hotels, hostels, walking down unknown streets and trying foods you can't pronounce.
But I've also only done this in countries where I speak the language. Japan is an entirely other world and not nearly as many people speak English as potential tourists hope. The school group trip sounds appealing in that, for a relatively reasonable amount of money (that better be a good hotel), you get a guide to help you with the language and the geography, as well as the benefit of a group.
Going to a foreign country alone can be daunting and it's nice to, if not know someone there, then to take someone with you. A classful of strangers sounds like it might be annoying, so it would depend how much time and what kind of time you'd have to spend with them.
It might be beneficial to do a trip of this sort first in order to familiarize yourself with Japan, then go back when you have a better idea of what you're doing.

But I guess i could aways go back again.

Find out the specifics of the deal to see if they work for you. If you'll be able to break off into individualized groups or if it's mandatory that you're always together, etc.

Tom was telling me that if they have 20 people, we won't have to join another school for the trip (or something like that).
how they have it planed out
Day 1:FLy to Tokyo
2: arrive in Tokyo
3: Sightseeing in Tokyo
4: visit Nikko
5: go to Hakono, while stoping at Kamakura along the way.
6: go to Kyoto
7: Sightseeing in Kyoto
8: visit Osaka
9:visit Hiroshima
10: return to Osaka
Day 11: leave for home.
