Marcus could barely contain himself during dinner, nearly knocking the salad bowl over twice. The Duchess cast him disapproving looks, but said nothing, and eventually bid them farewell to go and practice her needlework.

"Goodnight..." Terryn had nearly said "goodbye" but caught herself at the last moment. They already had their things in the carriage and needed to do nothing but make their exit. "Chester is waiting for us at the entrance to the gardens?"

Marcus waited for the Duchess's footsteps to fade out completely, and he stood up. "Yes. Hurry," he told her, taking her hand and rushing out to the gardens.

Terryn slinked silently through to the gardens, taking one final look back as they exited the manor. She saw Chester, the coachman, waiting on the other side of some large shrubs, and felt an excited jolt in her stomach as they entered the clearning where the carriage was waiting.

OOC: I'll be eating dinner soon.

Marcus helped Terryn into the carriage, shutting the door softly behind him. "We're going to be married," he whispered excitedly.

Terryn nodded, a pleasant, permanent smile etched on her face. It might not have sunk in that they were doing this yet, but either way she was happy for once. Genuinely happy, which was a nice change of pace.

The wheels made a sort of muffled creak, and the coach set off. Marcus squeezed Terryn's hand and flung open the coach's window, letting the moonlight stream in.

When the coach left this time, Terryn was in much better spirits than she had been when they left for Russia. She was excited this time, not apprehensive. She felt safe and confident, not homesick and unsure. She had changed alot over the past year, whether she really knew it or not.

Marcus was aware of these changes in Terryn, and also vaguely aware of changes within himself. He wasn't as rash and reckless as he had been. He tended to think about things a bit more. And he wasn't hiding anything from Terryn. And more importantly, from himself.

As the familiar countryside began to fade away, and the stars filled up the sky, Terryn finally let herself relax. She had been nervous that they would be caught at first, but was now certain of their success. "I can not believe we are going to do this." She looked to Marcus excitedly before practically pouncing on him and kissing him.

Marcus seized Terryn and kissed her fervently and delightedly, imagining Gran's face when she read the letter. They had a plan of action. And it was going to be good.

Terryn felt very un-Terryn-like at the moment. She shifted into Marcus's lap and placed her hands at the back of his neck, kissing him repeatedly. "I am not quite sure what has suddenly come over me, but I do not wish to stop just yet."

Marcus looked surprised. "You're sure?" he asked, making no motion to stop her. He was, after all, a man. "We're in a coach, you know."

"And?" Terryn glanced out the window momentarily. "You act as though we are being watched. Chester does not have a hole to spy on us..." She grinned and started kissing down his neck, slowly unbuttoning his collar.

True enough. Marcus had no idea what propelled Terryn at the moment, but whatever it was, it was wonderful, and he thanked it profusely. "Beast," he mumbled into her ear, eagerly unlacing her corset.
