"I'll leave that up to you since I got to pick were we ate." Len shrugged as he placidly scratched under his eye patch. He was actually using such an excuse because he had hardly been around the city enough to know what was there, other than a few stores he'd caught glimpse of every other time passing through.

"Hm... we could probably just wander around the city." Yori turned around to look out the window. "Its still pretty bright out. We have time. Or we could just head back to my place." Yori lifted up his burger with one hand and stared into it. He took the last bite he could and closed his eyes.

Len thought to himself for a moment about which would be better, then spoke. "Walking sounds good, then after that we can head back if there's nothing else to do." He shrugged slightly, as he began to stack his empty cup and unused fork onto his plate to make a small tower.

Naomi had some time to think while she was searching for food, and felt a little silly about earlier. Then again, Sako wasn't making things easy. Gah, I've gotta stop running in circle! Naomi mentally grumbled. She'd gone over it a lot, and it seemed like a rather inevitable outcome. It was hard to get stuck in a 'sorry off'. Oooh, Death Diner, that sounds perfect. Naomi squeaked happily and stormed inside. "I'll take a death burger with death fries and a death shake!" Naomi sarcastically spouted. As it turned out, they were all actual items. This place was terrible at naming things. Blushing at her little temper tantrum and the irony, Naomi took a large bite of burger and let out a happy squeak. Ahh, fattening food is always the best for situations like this.

The bell attached to the door of Death Diner tinkled slightly as it opened, indicating a new visitor. Flynn Everson walked into the building, looking around slowly. Death City wasn't small and looking for one person in it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, even with being able to see the souls of others. But he wasn't the kind to give up, even in against odds such as this and eventually his hard work paid off. After asking a few people if they'd seen someone running around who liked like the girl in the picture he had, he'd finally gotten a lead. This was where it had taken him. The door slowly closed behind him of its own accord and he looked around, purpose clear in his eyes. After a few moments he spotted her. Yeah, that's gotta be her he thought to himself as he stared at the young girl eating a fast-food meal. Wasting no time he placed the picture he had been using for reference back in his pocket and slowly walked up to the girl. He sat down in the seat across from her as casually as if she had asked him to come. "Would you be Naomi Kitsui?" He asked in a calm tone. "I'm Flynn Everson, Meister. I was just assigned to be your partner several hours ago." His voice was casual though it was very matter-of-fact, devoid of any specific emotions. "I picked up the assignment earlier this morning." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a sheet of paper with the student picture of Naomi paperclipped to it. He looked for all the world like an investigator preparing to interview a witness. "15 years old, Weapon. A pair of gauntlets to be specific. It looks like you were involved in an incident not too long ago that required an ambulance and the attention of the police." He shifted to the second page of the papers he was holding, placing the first one behind it. "A party? Someone was injured? Doesn't look like the police charged you with anything though. Could you tell me a little about that?" He asked, looking up from the paper glancing down at the black digital watch on his wrist before meeting her eyes again. He certainly did his homework.

Naomi had just about finished her burger when someone sat down across from her. He then immediately asked if she was herself... "Um... yes?" Naomi asked, cocking her head in confusion. With his continued explanation Naomi turned a bit white. Oh my gosh! I didn't even know they assigned us partners. Was I supposed to meet up with him or something? Maybe that's why he seems a little mad. Naomi worried to herself. Then again, at least it took away the stress of having to find a partner. On the other hand if Flynn was lame, she'd presumably be stuck with him. "Nice to meet you?" Naomi tried, feeling fairly awkward. Grasping at straws and not really sure what to say, Naomi pushed her plate forward a little and offered Flynn some of her "Fries?".

Then the mysterious meister started questioning her about the incident that occurred when she first discovered she was a weapon. If she wasn't uncomfortable before, now she certainly was. It seemed like he should have more information if he did his research. Then again the police report wasn't too detailed considering there weren't any charges pressed. With a sigh, Naomi avoided eye contact with Flynn and prepared herself to give the same story she'd already explained to the authorities many times. "I was at the party, and to be honest I'd been drinking a little. Someone fell down the stairs, and I rushed over to help him, unaware I was a weapon. When I went to grab him... well... ya know..." Naomi always had a hard time explaining the last part. Instead she just took her hands and partially transformed as she darted them forward, allowing her fingers to turn into somewhat grotesque claws. Naomi shook her hands for a second, as they turned back to normal. She still hadn't looking Flynn in the eye in a while, and was getting a bit teary. It was a somewhat painful memory, not only because it was scary, but because it was sort of the last day of her everyday life. If this guy was her new partner, why did it feel like she was being interviewed by the police all over again. A single tear ran down her cheek, easily visible to Flynn.

"No thank you," Flynn said politely, holding up his hand as she offered him fries. He didn't react as she pretended to lunge at him but instead listened carefully to her story. "I see," he replied, glancing down at his paper. He looked back up again and was about to ask another question when he noticed there was a tear running down her cheek. He blink in surprise. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize the event was that traumatic for you," he told her apologetically. "We can go over that later on if you prefer." He folded the paper in half and slipped it back in his pocket. "I'm just trying to get a clearer picture of who my partner will be. I hope I didn't offend." He leaned back in his chair as he watched her. Aside from his slight surprise, his expression hadn't changed through their entire interaction and his calm demeanor never wavered. Uh-oh he thought to himself. I hope I didn't get off on the wrong foot. First conversation with my new partner and I made her cry. He felt slightly guilty but he honestly didn't know what to do in a situation like this. It had been so long since he'd had any serious human interaction. Coming back to the school to finish his final year was going to be difficult, he knew that much. But he hadn't truly realized how much he had forgotten about forming relationships until this very moment. Nevermind the fact that she was a young girl, one of the most complicated creatures on the face of the planet. He was trying to think of what else he could say to console her. Come on... he thought to himself. What would make her feel better? A compliment maybe? Girls like those I think.. He shifted in his chair as he looked at her across the table. "You look really pretty today," he offered. I hope that didn't sound too awkward.. he thought worriedly.

"No no, it's fine... It's just a bit scary, ya know? I never knew I had something like this in me until only recently." Naomi explained, pulling off her glasses with one hand, and wiping her eyes with the other. Replacing her glasses, the girl looked up at him with a warm yet timid smile. "I understand. So how long have you been a meister? You seem to know what you're doing." Nao added, trying to reciprocate a bit, and learn a thing or two about Flynn. Plus since it seemed like they were partners, she should make friends and stuff. Plus, Naomi had to admit. He's a little cute, even if he is a bit cold. Right as she had the thought, Flynn did the unthinkable. He called her pretty. Immediately Naomi's face lit up bright red, and it looked like steam was about to burst from her ears. "W-w-what!?" She stuttered awkwardly. Realizing that looked weird, Naomi avoided eye contact with Flynn, and let out an uncomfortable giggle. "I mean uh... Thanks?" Naomi wasn't trying to be rude or anything, she was just very surprised. Usually guys weren't particularly into her. Not to say she was unpopular or anything, but she was usually referred to more as cute than pretty. It was a nice change. For the moment Nao completely forgot about the whole weapon & meister thing, and was just wrapped up in her emotions at being called pretty.

Flynn nodded as he heard Naomi's response. "I've heard a lot of stories that have gone the same way," he told her. He returned her smile with one of his own. It wasn't warm but it wasn't cold either. It was more...reserved. He watched as she reacted to his compliment. Jury was out as to whether or not it was a good reaction. She seemed taken aback which could be good or bad and she seemed a little embarrassed as well which again could be either one. You're welcome," he told her with sincerity. He leaned forward again as she asked him how long he'd been a Meister. "I'm in my 4th year," he told her. "Due to injuries I suffered on a mission last year I was forced to drop out and now I'm repeating my 4th year. So technically 5 years." Flynn hadn't exactly told the truth about his reason for dropping out, but he figured it would be better for her not to get a bad first impression. Besides, he wasn't about to repeat the mistakes he made last time. "And you're a first year so I'm assuming that's the extent of your training so far. Not that that's a problem. I don't mind helping you learn though of course as partners I'll treat you as an equal." He paused as he leaned back again, still keeping his smile. "How familiar are you with your Weapon form exactly?" It still seemed like an interview, but the atmosphere seemed to have relaxed just a little.

Naomi nodded at his comment about her story being common. She'd heard that too from multiple people. Still it was a painful memory. Time heals all wounds though, and hopefully with practice she'd get a better grip on her weapon form; no pun intended. "Oh no, that's terrible. Are you okay? I'm not a punishment am I?" Naomi responded to his claim he'd been injured on a mission and force to take a year off. As for the punishment comment, it seemed unfair for Flynn to have to team up with such a beginner weapon, considering he had so much experience. Naomi made a lot of assumptions, like that his old weapon had continued attending class and found a new partner. It was kind of a bad habit of hers. "Yup, brand new!" Naomi felt a little relieved when he said it didn't mind training her. Although one thing he said struck her as a little funny. Treat me as an equal? Even saying that implies we aren't equal. Still he seems nice, hehe. With his next question about her weapon form, Naomi chirped in again. "Pretty good! If anything the issue I'm running into, is accidentally transforming when I don't mean to. It's super easy for me to transform and maintain. Obviously I'm still learning more practical skills, but in terms of the basics I'm solid!" Naomi looked pretty proud of herself. For some reason she felt the need to show off a little in front of Flynn, hoping to show him she's cool.

Flynn smiled and shook his head. "No, you're not a punishment. How cruel would that be anyway? To use one student against another for punishment. I wasn't told why we were assigned as partners, but I don't believe it's for punishment." He nodded when he heard her explain her abilities. She's pretty confident. That's good as long as it doesn't translate into overconfidence on the battlefield. She doesn't seem like the type though. A little naive, but that wears off after a while. She seemed like a good sort. Friendly for sure and definitely eager. If she had the basics down too that was all the more better. He'd heard that Weapons can sometimes change forms even when they don't want to. It probably wouldn't be too big an issue. All in all it seemed like a good start. "That sounds good," he replied. "I have four years of experience as a Meister, including missions so I don't anticipate that to be an issue." He leaned back in his chair as he watched her. "So tell me a little about yourself, Miss Kitsui," he began. "Where are you from? What are you looking for in a partner? What do you expect to get out of the DWMA?" It still seemed like an interview. Flynn seemed like he would be at home in some detective novel with his demeanor and questions, though his attitude was still friendly and there was a small smile on his face as he listened.

Naomi nodded, feeling a little embarrassed. Guess that would have been a bit mean... The girl admitted to herself. Somehow the air of officialism was still a bit intimidating. Naomi was a bit awkward and quiet for a moment, nodding again to Flynn's explanation that it wouldn't be an issue. She chimed back in though to correct something. "You can call me Nao~" The girl explained simply, offering him another happy smile. Then it was time for another round of rapid-fire questions. Inwardly groaning, Nao replied to all of them in turn. "I'm from Cali. I... uh... isn't that kind of persona-Oh! You mean like a meister partner!" Naomi got a little flustered, blushing like crazy. She thought for a second he meant like a romantic partner. Probably should have been obvious, considering Flynn was all business. "I guess someone reliable, who can respect how I feel as a weapon... As for the academy, I'm hoping to get a better grip on my powers, and... honestly I don't know. Is it okay to not have an answer? This all feels pretty sudden." Naomi scowled at Flynn. "Hey wait a minute! Why do you get to ask all the questions. I think it's well past my turn." Pausing to pout for a second, Naomi continued with her demands. "First, I want one of those papery things you had." Naomi said, childishly holding her open hand out waiting for Flynn to produce the paper. Although it was probably a little unclear what she meant, Naomi wanted Flynn's file. It was unfair he'd gotten to read all about her, but she doesn't know anything. It's worth mentioning that although Naomi was a bit mad, she mostly just came across as an upset kid. Not intimidating at all to say the least. "Next uhh... questions! Why did you want to become a meister? I obviously didn't have much of a choice, so... yeah! Also you said you were injured so... I don't know, maybe you could elaborate on that a little?" Naomi said, leaning forward and continuing to scowl in Flynn's general direction. Although the girl didn't seem to realize it, both of her hands were now a strange combination of flesh and gauntlets, and several of her fingers were piercing straight through the table.

Flynn listened to Naomi as she answered each of his questions. He raised in eyebrow in slight confusion when she seemed to blush furiously after he asked about what she was looking for in a partner. She didn't seem like the shy type. Why did she get coy about that all of a sudden? Her requirements for a partner seemed fairly straightforward. Reliable, respect, well that was easy enough. He counted himself as pretty reliable and he could show respect just fine. He nodded at her question. "Sure, you're in your first year after all, you have plenty of time..." he trailed off as he noticed that Naomi was scowling. He blinked in slight surprise when she asked about "those papery things he had". What the heck was she talking about...? It took a moment for him to realize what she wanted as he watched her pout. "Oh. My file. Yes, that's fair enough," he told her as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his file. His was a single page since it only consisted of the sheet they handed out to Weapons and Meisters about their partners. He had picked up his own as well as hers when he went to check in. Although while he had added to that single sheet with reach he had done and printed out, he had no reason to research himself leaving Naomi with just the one paper on him while he seemed to have almost a dozen on her. He placed the sheet of paper with his picture attached to it in her partially transformed hand, careful to avoid the sharpened fingers. "Here," he told her with a bemused expression. "Your papery thingy." He folded his hands and set them on the table as he listened to Naomi began her questioning. The paper she had would give Flynn Everson's full name, age, the fact that he was a Meister, his year, his address and his picture. "I wanted to become a Meister so that I can join the Special Investigation Unit of the Police Force," he answered easily. He shifted slightly when she asked how he was injured. "I was injured during my last mission. I'm...not allowed to go into details due to the nature of it. However, if you're concerned that I might not be fit for combat I assure you that that's not the case. The damage wasn't physical in nature, it was damage to my soul wavelength but I'm afraid I can't reveal any more than that." His expression was neutral now, as opposed to the slight smile he had had earlier. He didn't seem hostile, just more...guarded. "If you do any more damage to that table we might have to pay for it," he added, looking down at her sharp metal fingers piercing straight through it.

Well that's a relief. Naomi had been a little worried Flynn might be annoyed she didn't quite match his level of motivation. It wasn't like Naomi didn't have dreams and goals, it's just... they hadn't quite adjusted to her dramatic lifestyle change yet. Naomi felt a bit silly as she was handed the simple paper. There was a lot less information here than he seemed to have on her. What was up with that? Maybe Flynn's past is somewhat secret, and Naomi's is basically public record. Naomi assumed that was likely the case. Either way she folded and pocketed it. The rather immature girl returned her attention towards Flynn's answers. "Oh wow..." Naomi thought aloud genuinely. That sounded kind of fancy. She now was a bit curious how old he was. Come to think of it, it probably said on his 'papery thingy'. Naomi didn't want to look stupid by pulling it out now though, so she decided to check later. The girl regretted her second question when she felt a subtle shift in his expression and mood. He seemed like he was opening up to her a little, and then suddenly he shut down. Oh no... Naomi though, feeling a bit guilty for pushing him. Then again he was the one who started playing twenty questions, she rationalized. Also... he wasn't allowed to go into details? Maybe that was a police thing, because she hadn't heard much about secrecy at the DWMA. Not to mention his soul was damaged or something? Naomi didn't really understand but she didn't want to press the issue. The girl was absorbed in her own thoughts, when Flynn pointed out her hands. "Oh gosh darn it!" Naomi said angrily. How long has that been going on? Why do I have so much trouble with this! Naomi held up her hand and looked like she was going to punch the table. After a second she held herself back and instead looked like she was about to wring her fingers through her hair. Naomi didn't do this either though, and after taking a few deep breaths she wiggled her fingers around and closed her eyes until her hands turned back to their normal soft selves. It felt very easy to hurt herself or others with her power, unless she stayed focused. Maybe this could be a good distraction though! Naomi took a second to arrange her drink, plate, and place mat so the holes weren't immediately obvious. Then she turned to Flynn. "I'm sorry, I... I lost my temper. I really REALLY need to practice though, would you mind lending me a hand?" Naomi asked seriously.

Flynn watched carefully as Naomi seemed close to flipping out over the partial transformation. He was judging her character and self-control by her reaction. That wasn't what he had planned for when he pointed out the damaged table but the opportunity had practically fallen into his lap. He slowly pulled his hands back off the table in case Naomi decided to vent her frustrations and didn't mind paying for a new one. Other than that he didn't move. She didn't but it was a close call. Then she looked like she was about to claw her own face which Flynn imagined would be pretty painful. A cold thought crossed his mind. Was she going to self-harm? He leaned forward in his chair, prepared to grab her if she intentionally hurt herself but stopped when she took a few deep breaths. He breathed his own quiet sigh of relief as he eased back into his chair. In several moments she managed to revert her hands back to human ones. By the time Naomi turned back to him he had returned to his calm state, looking as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. "Sure, I think that would be a good idea," Flynn replied as he stood up. She certainly has a quick temper he thought to himself as he pushed his chair back in. If training helps her cool off then I'm all for it. It'll give us a chance to see how well we do as a team too. Two birds with one stone. When he stood up to his full height he was about 6'2 and he looked down at Naomi with his same unreadable smile. My watch batteries should last that long. I'll probably have to change them tonight though... he glanced down at his watch with a sudden, slightly concerned expression as he thought this.
