Twilight = A semi decent book that got taken too seriously.

Ugh semi-decent?

Things I hate about Twighlight.

1. The writing is ATROCIOUS. How this women ever got an English degree is beyond me. Seriously how many times do I have to hear "he slashed him with his magnificent claws", "he looked at her with his magnificent eyes", "the magnificent water was magnificent on the magnificent day". We ******** get it, expand your damn vocabulary.

2. The characters are horrible people, the main is a complete Mary Sue that rides off all her friends as soon as she gets a little attention, her name might as well be "insert name here" because it's clear she's simply Myer's wet dream.
Edward? I'll never get what any of the fans see in this guy, he's the epitome of obsessive stalker. "I can't be with you, but I'm going to break into your house and stare at you while you sleep because you smell like bacon bits"

3. Myers apparently doesn't get the poetic justice of what nigh EVERY other book seems to understand. Not being able to go out in the sunlight is the punishment for vampirism and it's an important one.
Why you ask? Because the curse gives mankind great strength, speed, and most importantly immortal life. As a cost though they're given a hunger and the inability to walk in the daylight thus unable to live among humans. If they're able to live among humans and the hunger is controllable (even one not being the case would be enough) then it's hardly some dark curse anymore, it's more like getting bit by superman.

4. The fans. Not all of them, but the vast majority are some of the few people in the world that I can't stand to be around.

All very good points. I have a fifth.
5. The vampire falling in love with a human thing is WAY overdone for my taste. Get some damned creativity!

Not gonna bother to rebuttal, we have had this debate before. What I have learned is with twilight either you love it or you hate it. I personally admit that when I first read the series back when it was literally unheard of without the hype I enjoyed it. Sure I can list out plenty of flaws, but i can also list plenty of pros. Some people hate it, I am personally indiffrenet now. Its impossible to defend the integrity of the book when over half of its fans are idiots and have no clue where value lies outside of "omg vampires are so ******** hawt!"

side note: I also hated the fact that the vamps did not burn under sunlight. As a person who adores the vampire werewolf lore I really hate it when they are changed so drastically. Super speed without flight, sure I can see that. Ability to sustain themselves on animals, I can see that as well, hell even the idea that they have literally no fangs, I can even half way see that. But sparkling under the light kinda makes it gay. I think that it was just meant for females so that the main male could be seemed as more attractive.

Besides, that one of the things I find funny is, there litereally is a society of people who consider themselves to be real vampiers. (obviously not by the same definition of the media) (not gonna get too far into that) and they all basically went ape s**t because twilight made them look like a bunch of twi hard fanatics running around in vampire costumes.

ninja I personally don't see sparkling as attractive, I see it as Drag-Queen Wannabe material in the making. Trust me, I have been exposed enough to the 'gay culture' to know that sparkling does not equal masculine in any way whatsoever. Any woman that is attracted to such a thing is way too powder-puffy for my tastes. I want a man that is strong, not sparkly. (end rant)

Trust me, that hurts like hell. I've lost a nail that way before. I had fake nails and it got caught on a chair and RRrrIIiiPPpp. *cringes* All the way off the nailbed too. I was lucky that it grew back.

That's another group I can't stand, the weebos.
I like anime as much as the next geek, but I don't freak out and drool over it. It gets pretty annoying to see how obsessive they are over the subject more often than not.

What pisses me off is it sucks for people like me.

I would love to meet a girl who likes anime, rping, etc as much as I do. But most of them that I know, are hard care jap crazies and are only attracted to japanese feMALES.

Like cosplayers for example. It's all fine and dandy that those guys have their own convention and all but can't they leave dressing up as cartoon/anime characters for halloween? The money used for those events can be used for something more productive for the economy. mad

((Hey DBL, did you approve or deny the 2nd OE patent i sent you?))

*Clears throat* I'm female and like anime, video games, rping, and such. I am somewhat attracted to Japanese men (in general) but not the 'girly' guys. I like a guy with a mind and enough of a body to be able to hold his own and other than a very few most 'anime' types don't fit that build. biggrin Oh, and I don't cosplay...

My sis is into the series, and its wicked obnoxious...

APPARENTLY the sparklies are so overwhelmingly strange that, if they went into public on a sunny day, it would be a huge deal to people (in other words, they can't say that it's just body glitter... or something...)

Which I guess means that they can't live with humans...

oh, and another thing that I heard, apparently, edward, who's at the young age of one-hundred-i-don't-give-a-crap, goes from high school to high school, just redoing it over and over again... so the government doesn't find out or something O.o

as if no one would notice that the same kid has went through 10+ Highschools in just the Seattle Area...

gotta say, that Stephanie Meyer is truly an artist

I still never figured out that one. How in the hell do you manage to enroll the same kid over and over in high school. In order to be an immortal and no one no you COULD NOT offically be alive/exist. So there cant be an Edward Cullen. And the ******** up thing is, the school had his real first and last name. (though cullen was technacly not his last name it was the one he always used) so with that logic, did no one think hey. There has been an edward cullen in every single high school graduating class since 19xx. and oh s**t, look at the year book, its the same mofo!
