"Perfect," Lin grinned.
So now the baby had a name. Amalirahc, which was wonderful.
"Everyone is going to be surprised when we get back home."

Leyenda smiled, as close to a giggle as she was going to get while she was still this tired. "You have no idea," she murmured. "My friends ... after what happened with Brian, they would never expect me to have fallen in love, let alone get married."
Earendil chuckled. "At least it's a good surprise," he pointed out with a grin. He looked down at the baby again, and his eyes grew soft once more. "May I hold him a moment?"
Leyenda nodded and shifted a bit so that she was sitting up. In the process, she bumped the baby a bit, and he whimpered softly. "Careful," she murmured as Earendil reached down to take the baby from her.

Lin had to admit that was probably a large surprise. Leyenda was going to come back with both a husband and a baby. She looked over Earendil's arm to catch a better glimpse of him.
"He's quite cute."

"Adorable," Earendil smiled warmly, sitting on the edge of the bed so that Lin could see more easily.
The baby yawned slightly, showing his little pink tongue, and then he squinted his eyes and squirmed a bit. He made little noises in the back of his throat, and Earendil had to bite his lip to keep from cooing at the infant. He rocked him gently, carefully.

Lin smiled wide, for he was so cute! Though he did seem a bit squirmy at the moment, probably didn't quite like the change of hands.
"He's adorable, right Earendil?"

"Absolutely," Earendil replied, smiling warmly and longingly at the child. The baby rubbed his closed fist across his nose, then opened his mouth and whimpered softly.
Leyenda held out her arms once more. "Here, let me take him before he really starts up," she murmured, smiling at Earendil.
Earendil wasn't quite ready to give up the infant, but he was Leyenda's child after all, and so he handed him back carefully. "There you are," he smiled reluctantly.
Being handed off yet again finally woke the infant, but instead of crying he simply opened his eyes a crack, looking at the strange new faces. His eyes were a bright gold, much like his father's, and young though he was - less than an hour old - he looked as though he were a curious little fellow.

Lin watched the interaction between Earendil and little Amalirahc. It almost seemed like Earendil wanted to keep the little baby a bit longer.
"Ever think about having kids?" Lin asked Earendil softly.
After all just because one didn't want to get married didn't mean one didn't want to have kids. The nature of her whole clan proved this fact. Feng certainly proved it when she chose to have a child without a mate.

A light blush sprinkled across Earendil's cheeks. "Well ... yes, someday, I would like that very much," he murmured self-consciously. "But I'm in no hurry. After all, haste makes waste, is that not what they say?"
He looked at Lin and smiled. "Besides, I am immortal. I have time to wait."

Was Earendil embarassed with that question? Lin didn't understand why, it was a perfectly natural question to ask especially when someone else had a child.
"I don't think that quite applies to children..." Lin replied a bit bemused by that answer, "But yes, you have time..."
Besides it wasn't like there was any other way to have children here except by pregnancy. Earendil would have to find someone who he would actually love first.
Well... love love that is.

"Well, it's not as if I'm going to rush and marry someone just for the sake of producing a child," Earendil laughed. "So I'm in no rush, as much as I would love it. But until that time," he grinned at Amalirahc, "I'm just going to have to fawn over other peoples' children."
He had been bad for spoiling Regan at home, too. Tinuviel was probably glad that he was gone.

Lin opened her mouth and was about to say something about adopting but realized as a prince that might not be practical. Besides it wasn't like babies came out of nowhere like the way Gaia had them.
She closed her mouth and looked thoughtful for a moment.
"So you spoil other people's children."

"That I do," Earendil laughed, trying not to startle the baby. "Quite terribly, I might add."
He smiled at Leyenda, Kelirahc, and the baby, and stood up. "But I can see that now is not the time to do it," he said softly, his eyes warm. "You need to rest. Congratulations, you two. You truly have a treasure."
The two new parents smiled back at Earendil. "Thank you," Kelirahc said warmly.

Once things settled down again, they were once again exploring and on occasion helping Shiro with his work. In fact they were helping Shiro with the last of the works that needed to be copied, meaning that offically that day was to be their last day on the island.
"Hard to believe it's done," Lin murmured.
Well they weren't quite done, but close enough to it, they would finish before the day ended.

"Give me another five minutes," Shiro murmured, a smile on his face. "I'll be finished by then. But we won't be leaving quite yet, will we?"
He kept writing as Earendil answered. "Not immediately, but tomorrow or perhaps the day after. Still, most of us are anxious to get back, Storm and Starr most of all. Besides, we've been gone what, five years already? It's time to get back."

"Hard to believe it's been five years already," Lin murmured.
Her first taste of being away for longer than a month or two and she wasn't sure how she was feeling about it. It was quite natural to her now, she could only imagine how it was going to be like going back home with eletricity, running water, foods unique to Gaia....
