He was trying to track down his father. I figured it would be okay to let him go outside and sniff around in wolf form. Unfortunately, he ran into a wolf that said he wanted to kill him and his siblings and knew exactly who their father was.
Conner's only 5. He can't fight an older and more experienced wolf on his own, especially without his brothers and sisters.

I have no idea. I wasn't aware there were other wolves in the Nexus.
It's obvious by the wounds, that this wolf really was going for a kill

I have their father to thank for that. He teaches them how to hunt, track, fight and work together as a pack. Conner is not the pack leader, but he can usually hold his own. If Janet hadn't broken up the fight, he may not have escaped.
