Mizaka scrunched up her face at the mention the "new Spirit." "He's been...better, so to speak. Jack's been keeping him on a tight leash recently. Though I can't help but feel a little pity for him. He got sent to Hell for something that wasn't entirely his fault..."

Kiah nodded at Mizaka's explanation, going through a few scenarios in her head where that would come in handy. She tilted her head a bit at the end of her sentence, wondering how you could get sent to Hell for something not your fault. "How does that work?"

Now, there are some cases where Heaven forgives you for this, like if your family is being threatened and if you don't do the act, they'll be killed. That's not happened with Zachary, though; when he was around 13, his 'friends' found an abandoned litter of puppies. They thought it would be funny to drown them and pressured Zachary to join them. He knew that this was wrong, he had a chance to walk away and find the police. Instead, he didn't want to look like a 'chicken' in front of his 'friends,' so he did it anyway. Heaven was not pleased with his decision, so when he died in a knife fight, his Soul got sent to Hell." Mizaka sighed and went back to her share of the papers. "He regrets it, he really does, but a sin is a sin and one must be punished for it..."

Kiah paled considerably while listening to the story, starting to feel sick to her stomach. She tried to act normal and filled out her work with a shaky hand, ready to rush out of the room if necessary. "Well, then I hope he's learned his lesson... Can he... be like Jack?" she asked, tightening her grip on her pen. She couldn't stop the bloody images from invading her thoughts and fought down the bile rising to her throat.

Mizaka noticed that Kiah wasn't looking too great at the moment.
"Oh great..." She pinched the bridge of her nose. "I should've known you would get a reaction like this if I told you the story..." She looked at her with a confused expression. "What do you mean? Can he be redeemed? Well...yes, if he manages to successfully form a bond with a Master. Forming bonds with Vengeful Spirits is no easy task. It's nearly impossible, to be exact. My bonding with Jack was a complete miracle, I'll admit. Right now, the best we can do is not send him back to Hell, but even that option is limited. Sooner or later, the Demons will realize that we're keeping a Spirit with us and they'll send somebody to retrieve him..."

"No no, it's fine. I think I'm just feeling a little under the weather," she managed to throw the intrusive memories to the back of her mind, knowing she'd think about them later when no one was around. Kiah took a deep breath and let it out, feeling a bit better. She listened to the troubling news with a frown, not liking his odds. "Would it be easier if he was willing to bond with a Master? He doesn't seem so bad, compared to all of the Spirits I've seen. Also, how would the Demons find out?"

"It's not as easy as it seems. Even if Zachary was willing to form a bond, his Soul is still tainted with sin, thus making the bonding difficult." She signed one more paper before continuing. "As for the Demons, they send out their Hellhounds every once in a while. They can easily track down Vengeful Spirits from miles away, so if one managed to get a whiff of Zachary's scent, we'd be in big trouble..."
