Michiyo Saruwatarti She kept silent as he started to move a bit, waiting patiently for him figure out what he wanted to say. She wanted to know what he was thinking, but also hoped it wasn't something that would cause her to panic, as she knew she was wont to do.
As he spoke about his history at the Order, her heart sank a little to think of anyone going through this kind of life by himself. Then again, there were others who chose to do the same, and by the way he said she had trouble discerning whether it was a chosen path.
At the mention of the day they met, her mind flew back to that Christmas disaster. She hadn't even known him back then. Back then? she scoffed mentally, That was only two months ago. There had been that kiss, and while at first she resented him for stealing her first, somehow she couldn't stay angry for long. She had to resist the urge to wave a dismissive hand at his mention of something about her. What on earth would be so special about her?
When he started to talk about feelings, even if it was vague, her heart gave a thump. This was it. The subject she had been dreading. By the sound of it though, he was as lost as she was, and that was reassuring. At least nothing she could tell him - and it was pretty much nothing - would hurt him. The thought gave her confidence enough to return the curtsey, and be as frank as she could be, even if she felt little nerves jitter beneath her skin.
"First off, of course we're friends," she said, looking him in the eyes along with a resolute nod, "Don't you ever think otherwise."
Then she paused, to gather her thoughts for a moment, trying to choose them carefully, as her gaze slipped down towards the tangled fingers in her lap, "As to what I... I feel? I don't know. I honestly to goodness don't know." She shook her head slowly, throwing her hands upwards a little in a 'what-can-ya-do' kind of gesture, "I've spent the last day since... well, since last night trying to sort through the gigantic mess that is my thoughts, and I still haven't got a clue."
She looked sideways, a small grin creeping onto her face, "At least we're confused together, which is always better than being confused alone. And while I'm figuring all this out..." She reached out to place one of her hands on his, smiling softly, "... I'll be going nowhere."
"I'm really glad to hear that," his voice was sincere as he looked her in the eyes.
Looking down again, he paused before continuing very quietly, "I did enjoy kissing you..."
Erin's heart started thumping again just at the thought of it, a small fluttering in his stomach starting to form. It felt good to have someone, even if neither of them really knew what this thing was between them. Most of all, it felt good to really talk to someone, as he hadn't talked to anyone like this in so long. But he was still Erin, he was still independent and it would be hard for him to really share himself. He wasn't ready for concrete attachment, and he still had the urge to keep his distance, but he also knew he didn't really want anyone else making some kind of attachment with Michiyo either.
