I'm not sayin that I'm saying how is everyone getting that? They don't even have lines, and wolf is one of the romance options for a female my unit in FE12. I'm just saying nothing ever points to him beig gay. This is my favorite FE character I should know. Just let me have this one sad

This my new standard response when someone argues that a character having the option of shacking up with someone of the opposite sex means they can't possibly be gay/MUST be straight (usually reserved for Ike), but it fits:

You know who else got married to women? The guys in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.

Check your binary non-fluid heteronormativity at the door.

And here's a little fun fact for you: in the gay community, a "wolf" is a subset of the bear community; men into really masculine men with hair on their chest. Wolf is literally named after a gay stereotype.

I'm almost certain he was named after the animal haha. Cuz he's a baws like a wolf! Should we email nintendo and ask? Cuz I gladly will.

Well, the message of that movie was that people can fall in love with anybody, regardless of what sexuality they identify as.

So, just as saying a character MUST be straight because of something is wrong, so is saying that a character MUST be gay because of something.

We just have to stick with what we canonically know. The rest is fantasy.

Also, Nintendo, nor IS, would likely give you a response... there's a reason why they keep pretty much every character up for interpretation in this department and leave room for those who would like to fantasize. Even flamboyant characters that you think must be gay, or characters like Roy that have like a million female pairings are never confirmed.

You go ahead and do that and let me know when they get back to you, so much of a ******** they must give for your inquiry. Be sure to fix your grammar before you do, though.

Honestly, why would you even bother poking around in a thread like this? What were you expecting to find said about him in it, when he joins with a bunch of guys in FE11, one of them who may as well be his bestie and is who recruits him in FE12 (NOT this female love interest), and who mutters the name of a man when he dies?

Edit: Thank you, Rath. You nailed a lot of things on the head I don't feel like elaborating upon.

But were talking in game, not imagination! Peoples imagination never made fire emblem, and in game wolf can only be paired with a female, never a male. You can immagine any one gay it doesn't make em that way tho. And I'm not trying to attack gays here, but that character is not gay. If all these people were gay I'm sure they'd put gay marriage in awakening, but they didn't.

Cuz hardin was like his dad! He freed him from slavery! So according to your logic Wolf, Sedgar, Roshea, Vyland, Hardin (and countless other units) are gay just because the joined with other dudes?! Roshea is supposedly like the most religious FE11 character excluding Lena, who he actually has a thing with in the manga, making there a rivalry between roshea and Julian.

I'm sure IS would be delighted that their imaginations did nothing to make this game series.

You're basing your entire argument that he MUST be straight on the fact that he can be paired... with female my unit. Your entire argument kind of falls apart right there. Because... units don't get paired romantically with MU? I don't really know what you mean. MU has supports with a few people... but not Wolf. Wolf's support with MY is a one-way thing, like with most characters. Also, MY could have A supports with many characters, soooo.. you don't really have an argument to say that Wolf MUST be straight.

You could argue that he doesn't really see anybody that way though, because he doesn't really show those feelings to anybody- if that's true. I haven't gotten to him, yet.

Also, there is a REASON why marriage in FE4/13 has to be straight... it should be obvious. It has to do with the gameplay. Also, in this time period, gay marriage was... not a thing, anyway.

Wolf is one of the potential love interests for My Unit (Female), along with Jeorge, Warren, Gordin, and Horace. Bro I could say WolfXMia and be
MOre accurate, seeing how the default female MU looks like Mia. And that's a pretty far off observation.

....Um what? If you're so insistent on MY having love interests, mind sharing where you got that information? Something factual, please?

Except anyone can edit a wiki...so not reliable. If it was from someplace like Serenes.net I'd believe you more.

You're not 'attacking' gays per se, but the way you came into this thread was rather inadvertently homophobic, quite frankly.

A "daddy" is another gay term, by the way. Not that that's even the point. Just a humorous observation. Like the term Wolf. And I never said Wolf was gay simply because he joined with a group of men.

And you clearly have no understanding of what logic is. Or how to follow an argument. You just misconstrue and make hyperbole. Do you know what those words mean? I'm honestly unsure, given your awful spelling and grammar. Wolf happens to have a lot of homoerotic subtext surrounding him, that, as a matter of fact, Roshea and Vyland and Hardin do NOT have, for the most part.

And another thing simply because it does happen to irk me: Awakening doesn't have gay marriage because it wouldn't make sense in-game. Especially since it would prevent you from getting all the children characters. NOT because the characters are only sexually attracted to the opposite sex. The very word "homosexual" and our more contemporary understanding of what sexuality is originated around the late 19th century. Fire Emblem worlds are typically much more medieval in influence, if that. Does that mean that before the very idea of homosexuality was put forth that what we call "gay" didn't happen? No. Look at the Greeks. Most ancient cultures, for that matter.

As a matter of fact, when measuring how compatible two characters are in game to see how close they are to getting married, much like how you could in FE4, you can actually measure the compatibility between two men. The reader usually says something along the lines of "You're both guys, what the hell are you thinking?" Amusingly, this is in reaction to a line it shows that shows the (male, mind you) MU thinking "<♥♥♥ Wants to sleep together" towards Krom. Take a gander: http://serenesforest.net/fe13/fortune.html

It will likely be bowdlerized in translation. But it shows remarkably gay interactions and feelings all the same. For characters that can still only marry the opposite sex for reasons of game-play mechanics. It takes us back to the point that being married in a game to the opposite sex does NOT mean a character MUST assuredly be straight. Sexuality is pretty fluid, anyway.

If Wolf is your favorite character, and you're a fan of female MU/Wolf, ship it all the days to your hearts content. Saying he ABSOLUTELY MUST BE STRAIGHT is another matter.

Even if Wolf is straight, however likely that is (and I'll concede he's quite likely attracted to women), Wolf is SURROUNDED by gay and homoerotic subtext and sometimes outright text, even with the few lines he has. That doesn't MEAN he's gay either, but it's their for fans and players to interpret as they like.

Personally, I dig Wolf/Sedgar. If you don't, then you don't.
