"This may take a while," Keegan chuckled, shrugging his shoulders. "You've got the right idea, Mori," he said encouragingly. "Keep it up, and you'll get it."

And she did keep it up. For the next hour or so, Mori continued to practice, and each Flamethrower she fired was becoming more and more focused; the flames powerful enough to actually reach Althena. Now, her resistance paired with Water Sport kept the damage low, but the Psyduck could see the potential her teammate possessed. Keegan admired her progress, and had already decided that once she was a bit older, they would work on making her flames cover a wider area, although at the cost of lessened damage. When Mori finally had a good grasp on how to execute the move, he recalled both her and Althena, and ran them both over to the Pokemon Center for a quick round of healing. He went straight back to the gym, eager to continue. This feeling was mirrored in his two Pokemon as well, for the moment the gym door slammed behind them Althena released herself, and Keegan sent out Mori right behind her.

"Now," he said, rubbing his hands together and looking at them each in turn, "we're going to do something a little different. Now that we've given Mori a chance to practice her Flamethrower a little, it's time for a workout of your own, Althena." The Psyduck cheered happily, hopping up and down in excitement. "Places, then!" he nodded, and both retreated to their positions once more. "Althena, Water Sport, just in case," the redhead called. Nodding, Althena soaked herself once more, already having a good idea of what her trainer was planning to do. "All right, Mori. I want you to fire Flamethrowers directly at Althena. Althena, I want you to use your Psychic attack to block or deflect the attacks Mori sends your way. Understood?" Both Pokemon nodded, and prepared to do just that. Mori let her flames swirl around her, and as she brought her diamond-hard hooves down on the gym floor, she fired her best Flamethrower of the night directly at the watered-down Psyduck.

That may be, but just remember. All defenses have a breaking point! Poliwag, brace for impact and use ice beam!" Poliwag nodded and began to charge the ball of cold energy infront of his body. With his tail still stuck in the ground, Poliwag took the full force of the quick attack, pushing forward with his tail and legs just enough stay on Gligar as it pushed forward. As they sailed through the air, Poliwag winced a grin and fired the Ice Beam point blankas Crenu smirked evilly. "It doesn't matter what it takes, an all out offensive wins every time!"

Getting awoken from her sister's screaming, Nina sat up in bed, looking over to her. The girl's vision was doubled, and it took a moment for her to focus-- the sunlight beaming through the window made it a bit harder, too. "Whitney... agh. What's wrong?" The girl was shuddering a bit, and didn't respond immediately. "I... had a dream," she said, sniffling and wiping her eyes. "Oh. Well, you know that you can't get hurt in your dreams. You were just--"

"No, I wasn't just!" she yelled. "Nina, it replayed when Maorde attacked me! I was s-so scared the first time that it happened and I don't need to be reminded of it again!" Unsure of how to react, she did what came naturally, and got up from her bed to give her sister a hug. "I know how scary it was, Whitney," she whispered. "It scared me too when it happened, so much... But, you know what? He's not going to come after us any more, okay?" She broke away from Nina's grasp, wiping her eyes with the backs of her hands. "Wh...at makes you say that?" she asked. The blue-haired girl smiled reassuringly. "Well, let me just say that I wanted no further part in whatever plans that he had for me. I think I struck a nerve, because he hasn't attempted to contact me once since then. So, maybe I screwed up his plans-- no evil daughter to help carry out his agenda while pretending to care for her. Heh."

Whitney smiled a little, and sniffled. "I hope you're right." She paused. "But... well, let's get off this topic. Did you have any dreams?"
"I did, actually. I don't think it meant anything..."
"Aw, come on. Tell me about it. Please?"
"Well, okay. It wasn't much. Sabrina and I were talking about what we should do-- we were outside on a nice, warm day, and we were in Goldenrod. She suggested we go look for you and Rai, but I had said that that'd be useless, because you two were spending a lot of time together."
"Wait. Were Rai and I dating?"
"Mmhmm. And I was with Kilik again. But anyway, all we really did was talk, and we finally decided to go look for you and Rai in the Gym, and that's when I woke up."
"Weird... You don't think that could have been one of your dreams like you had about Maorde, could it? You know, where it comes true?"
"Well, I don't know. Sabrina's dead, after all."
"I thought you said that you could use the Sacred Ash on her or something?"
"I don't know that either. I mean, I'd have to find Ho-Oh to do that, and even if by some amazing miracle I was able to track that bird down..." She paused. "Well, I just can't think about it right now. There's too many minisculities to factor in."

Whitney nodded a little. "Okay, that's fine. I understand." It got silent for a moment or two, but Nina broke it. "C'mon. We've slept in the longest, so we should probably get going before everyone wonders where we went." The pink-haired girl agreed, and both of them changed into their normal clothes --facing away from eachother, of course, so they didn't look at one another-- before heading on out into the main area of the Gym, where the arena --and Raimundo-- was.

The man couldn't help but cringe when he heard Crenu's command. As the Gligar struggled to remove the Poliwag with his claws, fear began to take hold of him, caused by both the Poliwag's grin and the concentrated ice forming rapidly near its mouth. Unable to get free, the beam exploded into the Gligar's chest, its freezing particles shooting through his body. The Gligar could barely manage a screech as he felt every muscle in his body stiffen from the cold. Without proper control of his wings, he crashed into the ground, unable to do more than breathe deeply, each breath releasing a cloud of foggy air.

"Touche'," the man said, recalling his defeated Gligar. "I have to say, I wasn't expecting an Ice attack," he said humbly. Reaching down towards his belt, he exchanged Pokeballs. "All right, Krabby, you're next," he called, throwing the ball to the ground. In a flash of light, a red crab-like Pokemon came out, his claws snapping in excitement, bubbles foaming from his mouth. "Vicegrip," the man ordered. With one quick shuffle and a pounce, the Krabby came down with both his claws, attempting to latch onto the Poliwag's shoulders as it recovered from the last aerial attack.

"Poliwag, brace yourself!" As the Krabby clamped down on poliwag with his powerful claws, Poliwag winced from the pain and struggled to get free. Though the tadpole pokemon was slippery, Krabby's grip was to strong and held him in place. "Not a bad choice old man. But my pokemon don't stop until their last has been drawn. Not because they want to keep going..." Poliwag continued to flail around vigorously crying from the pain, all the while Crenu simply grinned as he watched. "But because I won't et them stop! EVER! Poliwag, DOUBLE SLAP NOW!" A small trickle of blood ran down Poliwag's body as he struggled until his naturally slippery body was able to slip out of Krabby's grip, not having time to recover as he immediately jump forth flailing his tail wildly at Krabby.

Both Mag and
Linalee had slept soundly through the night. Mag was awake first, he had always been the morning person of the two friends anyway. After a breif shower and such Mag made his way out to the lobby. Now that his current business in Cerulean was done he had decided to think about a course of action to take next. Sure there was always Lt. Surge and his Gym but, Mag didn't feel like he was going to be successful at this point in time with that venture. His team needed to become stronger but where could he go to become such?

Mid thought, he noticed the computer/videophone in the corner of the lobby. Linalee had stated that his Grandparents wanted him to call. Mag checked his watch, it was a little after 7:00 AM. Pete and Alice should both have been up by then. Mag walked over to the device and dialed his home number and waited as it rang.

After several rings the videophone was finally answered on the other end. Mag instantly saw the familar wrinkled face of his stern grandfather Pete. "Hello there." Mag said to the man who smiled upon realizing who had called.
"Well hullo yourself!" The main said chuckling. "Glad you could finally take the time out of your busy schedule to talk to your old grandfather." The man said jokingly. He looked to the side at what sounded like a door opening. "Hey Alice, you'll never guess who decided to give us a ring!" The sight of Mag's grandmother Alice came into view with her familar white-gray hair. "If it isn't our long lost grandson!" She exclaimed.

Mag had forgotten how his grandparents acted sometimes. They were the most youthful and joking pair he had known. "Hey I haven't been gone that long." Mag said defensively. "Only a little over a month." He said matter-of-factly. "An eternity to those who are aging." Pete said gazing off into the distance. "Oh pishposh! I'm certainly not growing old here." Alice teased resulting in a nod of approval from Pete. "So what have you been up to sonny?" The gentleman asked.

The man became a bit sickened by Crenu's attitude, watching as he smiled through the Poliwag's pain. Nevertheless, he smiled as well. "That doesn't worry me in the least. Krabby here'll fight just the same and I know he wants to," the man said.

As Crenu's Poliwag swung wildly with his tail, the man's Krabby brought his claws up to defend against the blows. "Krabby, Vice Grip. Grab its tail and crush it!" the man yelled. As soon as the Poliwag finished its fourth slap, Krabby thrust his claw outwards to grab the tadpole's tail at the root while the other claw tried to grab the much more slippery end in support.

For a second time Poliwag was locked in Krabby's iron grip. "Heh, is that all your Krabby can do? If you're going to lose to me, at least do it with some style! Poliwag, if Krabby wants to hold on so badly, then lets take 'em for a ride! Water Gun at the ground!" Poliwag took as deep a breath as he could and released it all at once, bringing forth a mighty stream of water that hit the ground with enough force to propel the pokemon up into the air. "Tell me old man, is your Krabby afraid of heights? If he were to let go now, he might take minimal damage from the fall. I'm curious as to how hard his shell really it..."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 16, 2007 8:51 pm

The man just smiled. "Why as hard as I want it to be of course. Krabby, let go and use Harden! Try and land away from the puddle!" the man called out. Though the Krabby was indeed surprised by the sudden propulsion, he was in no way afraid of heights as Crenu so wished. He let go by pushing off of the Poliwag, and fell as the Poliwag continued upward. On the way down, he focused his energy to harden the softer bottom-side of his body before hitting the ground with a thud. The impact was indeed damaging, causing him to even bounce a little, but it could have been much worse had he held on.

"A direct hit right into my Scyther's body with a Night Shade," Bugsy said, directing his hand to his belt and withdrew a the Park Ball, recalling the Mantis. "I've lost." He said simply, but wore no frown of scorn look whatsoever. He still had some leftover pride from that bout with the Rockets. Boy, he really showed them. The fact that Ky had a Bug Pokemon helped a bit too, no use fighting a personal bias. "Good fight Ky. I'd love to see your Beedrill when he's a bit more experienced." Reaching into his pocket as he walked towards the victor, Bugsy handed the older boy his prize: $4000, a Hive Badge and Giga Drain. "Wear it with pride, and make sure to come back for a rematch." With that, the boy turned and walked behind the leafy curtain to the area more densley floral in the Gym.

The weedle spun around and srew out a hair-like white substance at Steffi. Before it was able to reach her, Sparky sprang out to make the attack hit him instead of Steffi. The white substance engulfed him and even left a few remnants when he stood back up to fight the weedle. Steffi saw a noticable speed change in Sparky. He now moved as if he was glued to the floor.

The two pokemon faced each other, and Steffi realised it was a fight tat they were waiting for. Reluctant, Steffi commanded,

"Sparky, Thundershock!" The pokemon clutched his fists and grinned, beginning to spark his bright red cheeks. He closed his eyes and sent a powerful spark of wild yellow lightning. Steffi stood flabbergasted at his power.

The weedle slowly dropped to the floor, as still as if it had fainted. Steffi galloped over to Sparky in a frenzy and hugged him really hard.

"I'm so proud of you!!!" she shouted.

"Um hello." Lyn said to the Drowzee that was staring her in the face. "I've come to give you an offer." The Drowzee said. When it moved its mouth the short trunk on it's face flopped around. "What is . . . Are you talking?" Lyn asked calmly. She was dreaming right. This was all in her twisted imagination. "Obviously. Anyway my name is Pepper. Well that is what you would have named me according to your style of naming." The drowzee said walking a few feet away from Lyn and sitting on a tree stump/cardboard box, which changed into a cardboard box/block of ice. " . . . Yes I would have." Lyn said quietly. She ever had dreams as active neither as this nor as weird. She thought she might be going insane. "You're not going insane. Your dreams have always been this weird. You just never open your eyes and let them in. Which is very unhealthy you know." Pepper said crossing one leg over the other as she sat which made her look slightly silly. "I am the drowzee that works at the restaurant you are sleeping in. As you know I work as a chef here and I use the taste of people’s dreams to inspire me to make my food. I thought there were many different tastes here in Vermillion because it is a port town and there are many foreigners traveling through but they pale in comparison to yours my friend." Pepper said as she twirled on of her fingers around in front of her. The images around it began to blur and as she brought the finger to her mouth the blur followed straight into her mouth and she began to suck it in. "Mmm!" Pepper said licking her lips.

Nina smiled a tad as she and Whitney approached their friend-- he was lying down on one of the rows on the bleachers, but perked his head up once he heard footsteps approaching. "G'morning Rai," she said her, smile getting a bit bigger. "Whitney and I were gonna go out for a little walk or something, and then maybe head out entirely. I want to get started on breeding that team I talked about. Feel like coming along? Or do you want us to come back later on and get you?" The boy sat up and stretched his arms out over his head, letting out a little sigh. "Sure, I'll come with you guys," he said, yawning a bit. "I've been so bored since you both went to sleep last night that I need something to do." He hopped off of the side of the bleachers a moment later, walking over to his friends, both of whom seemed ready to go.

"Oh, crap," Nina said, "hold on. I've gotta exchange my Pokemon really quick-- I've only got Krystal, Regal, and Oracle with me." Rushing over to the computer in the back of the room, Nina quickly logged on before depositing Regal and Oracle into the computer and withdrawing the rest of the members of her team. Before she logged off, though, a thought came to her-- I told Rai and Whitney I'd take out one of the Gym Pokemon and keep them with me to learn more about them... I have to. So, she deposited Sakura back into her own account, and decided against the original Pokemon she was going to take. Instead of withdrawing Oracle, she took out Anastasia from the computer, subsequently logging off.

She remembered the very day that Anastasia had evolved into a Jynx as she held the Pokeball close to her heart...

Glaring at one Electrode each, both Anastasia and Oracle used a Psychic attack. They lifted up both Electrodes, and made them fly around the room. Anastasia flung her Electrode into the ceiling and onto the ground multiple times, and bounced it on the walls as if it was a bouncy ball. The Pokemon giggled. "This is fun!" she said to her partner...
Oracle smiled at its partner. "That was a job well done, Anastasia," she said. Anastasia grinned. "Thanks, Oracle! You did very well yourself. I just kind of wish that I could have kept up with you..." No sooner had Anastasia finished her sentence, she was captured in a white light. Her body grew in stature, just as Sakura's did a few minutes beforehand. Hair flowed from the top of her head, and the rest of her body changed overall. When the light faded, a Jynx stood in the place of where Anastasia was.
"Anastasia!" Sabrina said, in a very happy tone. "I can't believe it... You've finally evolved!"

Nina, who had her eyes closed and remained motionless as the ball was held, felt her eyes wettening for the umpteenth time in a twenty-four hour period. While, yes, Oracle was Sabrina's trademark and most powerful Pokemon, Anastasia was far more sentimental, as she witnessed it battle and evolve before her eyes while being in Sabrina's presence, and seeing how happy she had become. However, she had never once seen what it was like as a Jynx-- Sabrina was taken from her a short time after Anastasia had evolved, and since that day Nina had never chose to use the Pokemon in a Gym match.

Trying not to dwell on the subject, the girl dried her eyes and clipped the ball onto her belt, turning and smiling as she walked back to her friends. "All ready to go!" she said in a chipper tone of voice. Not allowing either Whitney or Raimundo to ask their typical "What's wrong?" questions, she burst through the Gym's door to the beautiful June day that awaited them outside.

"Now Althena!" Keegan directed. "Deflect it with Psychic!"

Althena stared down the flames as they drove towards her, but as she raised her hand to attempt to blockade the fire, she froze up, unable to summon her psychic powers. The Flames washed over her, doing minimal damage, but hurting her nonetheless. The Psyduck looked towards Mori, and nodded sharply, signaling for her to do it again. Keegan stood back, his arms folded across his chest. "Do it, Mori. Flamethrower. Althena, block it with Psychic," he said boldly.

Once more, the fire pony directed her flames into a cone-shaped spray, although the intensity was noticeably different. Even though she'd learned to form the correct shape for the attack, her endurance was still lacking, but Keegan knew that would come with practice and growth.

Almost immediately Althena raised up both arms this time, a pale blue aura emanating from them. The flames crashed up against an unseen, psychic barrier, but broke through only a second or so later, once again scorching their target. Infuriated, Althena slammed her webbed foot on the ground, and pointed at Mori once more. The Ponyta's chest heaved, but she nodded, and let another Flamethrower fly.
