Well I went to gameswork shop today and played a few games, realized the future choices im gonna have to make. I definatly agree with a 7 man body gaurd for the farsight I will have in 45 years, as well as a shas'o commander with one or two bodygaurds.
My ideas are still stetchy, but I was thinking that alot of the battlesuits would come with two weapons and a multi-tracker, and some would come with target lock, a weapon, and (another support system If I want to improve the surrounding troops, or another weapon that I can fire seperatly when I need to switch to a more important target). Some may also have shield generators.
as for the Shas'o, I was thinking to give him the cyclic ion blaster and plasma rifle, maybe shield generator or multi tracker. The body Gaurd I do not know what to give them, Im looking at burst cannons, missle bods, and fusion blasters.
Someone give me a summary on those three items as well as an improved version of my ideas?

Oh, and I also hope to incorperate maybe 2 sniper teams, two firewarriors squads, and maybe two pathfinder squads with markerlights, although im not too sure on how markerlights work. I think I know what a networked one does, which I could give to the firewarrior teams so they can actually kill something.

that they didnt know thiere history/polotics and fluff well enough


the space marines and imperial forces are closest to the nazi polices and idelogies, the tau are more like the communists

the army i have now is 1500 points its got: 2x hammer heads with railguns, 3x broad sides, 2x fire warriors (one with carbines and devilfish and the other with pulse rifles) 1x pathfinder unit 1 with railrifle, 2x devlifish (the one with the firewarriors has a SMS), 1x gun drone squad and commander shadowsun as the hq

So guys me and my friends are having a little 4 person mini tournament. Me being Tau of course I should be comming up against Nids, Dark Eldar and Blood Angels. And we do not know the opponents army list intill the day. And we have to use the same list thourghout the mini tournament. Now I am going to fear comming up against the Blood Angels. So what I am asking does anyone have any tips for me. Cause eventhough I have not played a Blood Angels army yet I know I am going to fare badly against them.

shas'o with cyclic ion blaster, or shas'vre with one, and get some plasma rifles passed around to cut through both infantry and vehicle armor.

Say what? No offense, but I really, really dislike that combo. It doesn't do anything well. Hits Termies and vehicles with one shot, Hits hordes with three, and it really NEEDS that Shield Gen because of it's short range. It has to get perilously close to attack. Fire Knives are pretty much the standard all-rounder config.

Some of us do not know the terminology for crisis suit configurations, so please if you would be so kind as to explain.
Im stuck on my configurations, I like plasma rifles and fusion blasters, but fusion blasters have so short range and I dont know how well they would work against an infantry model.

Hmm, seems my usual link for Crisis names is down, but I'll post up a brief list of the more common configs:

Death Rain: Twin Missile Pods (usually with a Targeting Array)
Fire Knife: Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, and Multi-tracker.
Burning Eye: Twin Plasma Rifles
Helios: Plasma Rifle, Fusion Blaster, Multi-tracker

I play with my friends often i am the Tau and they are usually the space marines the eldar the Necrons and the imperial guard. If anyone has tatics or advice to help crush them it would be gratly appreciated. thanks
