Ron Hextall, 10 years 1987 Philadelphia Flyers--1997 Philadelphia Flyers Philadelphia's 1st-year goaltender stood on his head between pipes throughout a dramatic 7-game standoff against Oilers in 1987 Stanley Cup Finals. Dino Ciccarelli, 14 years 1981 Minnesota North Stars--1995 Detroit Red Wings No player in league history endured a longer drought between Stanley Cup Finals appearances than Ciccarelli, who many consider the best player to never win an NHL title. Canadian-born winger scored 14 postseason goals as a rookie to help lead Minnesota North Stars to their 1st-ever Finals--before dropping a 5-game series against heavily favored Islanders. Cicarelli returned to brink of championship 14 seasons later as a member of a Detroit team that entered playoffs with league's best record--but a surprisin' 4-game sweep at hands of New Jersey promptly ended his title hopes.
