:O gasp! since second grade! :O woah!
:3 people know I'm a crazy musician so they just shrug and walk away smile j/k
Mr. A found out that three people in Boston know about us, one of them knows us through a recording online...
I've never seen any recordings of us except my youtube one....
:O so...
woah.. I should ask mr. a XD
but he's going to CHICAGO tomorrow to check out the performing art schools [like he did in boston, to set our high school performing arts academy right] and to see if our hotels are gr00d or not smile
my reed suddenly split in two during band...I was squeaking and so I stopped playing during the....20 measure rest and saw a huge chip...don't know how it happened...it wasn't there...
but I am NOT going to use my new reed until thursday or friday, I'm still breaking it in D:<
competition at cal state ful this saturday smile we're the only junior high band there...all the rest is teh best high schools in cali...so I'm scared burning_eyes burning_eyes burning_eyes

Nevira Shadowfire I never could get the hang of air tonguing. I tried it but wound up slacking air off and doing half a dozen other bad things and I finally decided to TTTTTR or nothing. (Tip Top Tongue on Tip Top of Reed) I'd recommend just tonguing in the way that feels right and gets the tone across. But the important thing in both tonguing methods is to never slack off on your air or you will die a most horrible and painful death impaled upon the conductor's baton. 3nodding My instructor in college told me to do tip of the tonguetip of the reed... I'm gonna shoot her, lol. Both me and the other top chair had the same problem tonguing and she didn't do anything about it... my private instructor got both me and him to tongue MUCH better in a few lessons. There's other methods of tonguing, like anchor tonguing for long tongued people, and double lip emouchures for those that apply too much jaw pressure (like me).

MiyokoxClarinetti Riku_Cloud224 Um... Ricos are fine...I think. The first clarinet in our band, she has a five star clarinet playing lesson teacher who plays in a concert house O.O She says to use ricos because vandorens are evil. Always listen to the first clarinet. SHE IS MY ROLE MODEL!!!!!! gonk well it depends, there are some ricos that are good [my teacher got some of this new rico reed for free a few months back, said they were pretty good surprisingly] but most are bad, I honestly like vandoren ALOT o_<; I still want to try their rue lepic reeds....
my teacher has 200 of the rue lepic reeds at home....got them for free...[his gf whose an oboist works at the wonderful bestest music store i've been in for woodwinds, RDG woodwinds...i'm guessing thats how he got them -_-] crying
:O she has an r-13!? I have an e-11 [with rather fine wood biggrin everyone has been saying that <3333 mr. acciani picked it out for me ^_^]
o_o wait five star lesson playing teacher? biggrin that sounds trippy :O ooh what hall? :O iono if you can call my teacher five star...maybe... rofl j/k ^_^; he's awesome, thanks to him I'm first chair ;o;!
yes! Always listen to firsties!
well not all the time, we're wrong sometimes...especially me... emo I suck at timing...
and yay for the tonguing exercises working!!! [I haven't done the exercises for two weeks... ninja ninja he'll never know....]
speaking of reeds, stupid second chair [whose sometimes first] broke my best reed!! [well i shouldn't be whining, i should have done the rotation thing of reeds] at the rehearsal where the presentation of the academy was taking place, DAMN HIM! DX size four is still a bit uncomfortable to break in for me @_@ argh...Um... Rico actually harvests their cane a season earlier than is reccomended to produce more annually than most other manufacturers. That is why the cane is usually yellow/gren in comparison to the paler Vandorens, which I prefer. I've been playing for over 7 years now, and I have yet to find a Rico reed that didn't need major work on it whereas I've had very few Vandorens that couldn't be saved. In fact, I still have a reed from sophmore year (3 years ago?) which is a 3.5 V-12, and it still plays well as a very very soft reed and works well as a jazz/swing reed. I've been buying Vandoren 5's in bulk, and even though I have been playing the Rue 56's out of the box, I'm going to work on these to break them in better and they should last years as well.

Riku_Cloud224 amanda234254 i play with threes....your life sounds interesting... I play with a....*checks reed* 2 1/2... But...I need a two, desperate need of 2... I'm sharp, very sharp, it can be fixed with a twist up on the barrel, but still...I've had that reed for awhile. I've never had a student go below a 2... I highly suspect that your mouthpiece is to blame. The standard 65 cm barrel could be elongated (by buying a 66 or *gasp* 67 pro barrel... I have a few of each) to drop the over all pitch, but I believe your embouchure is overtightening to prevent the reed from squeaking. Move UP in reed strength, but by a mouthpiece with a closer facing (most will havea reed strength size that they recomend). Trust me, you shouldn't be moving down til at least college... unless you become over cocky like me and play on 5's all senior year, lol. But w/e.

Riku_Cloud224 schatz_ich_liebe_dich fpslover Riku_Cloud224 amanda234254 lol.......good idea........i have a few i should burn.... *makes little bonfire* Here we go...Nice and easy...*2 starts to run away* Come back here! I'm not through with you!!! Maybe the F,E, and A are all brown notes...? hmmm....maybe shouldnt middle b flat be one of them too? Well, the B flat is supposed to sound...well...flat. Sharps and flats never sound right unless played with a neighboring or passing tone. ...they sound perfectly fin in minor and dominant 7th chords...

OMG! Anchor tonguing for long tongued people? I'm long tongued...(say anything about playing in KISS and I'll hurt someone mad ) How do you anchor tongue? smile

I'm sick of it...its not that fun to play rolleyes but we're going to cal state ful...me is excited.. biggrin first middle school to set foot there in the meng hall BUHAHAHA! question, why would I try YOUR size 5 reeds? -0- XP apparently holy water works on reeds when you break it in or maybe it was because I softened the reed? either way...its like woah O_o the reed I have, its been broken in...my mozart kimmy almost chipped it today...its chip free!! [I'll smack myself if it gets chipped tomorrow] it hurts to break in reeds...iono why O_O WRITING THIS LETTER OF INTENT IS HARDDD! [for the performing arts academy] mr. a said I don't have to write it like everyone else, "write what you feel, like you're writing a letter with an interpretation of music to me smile " that made it easier, I don't want to rattle on sounding bland, boring, report like, "the academy can help me, I can help the academy, i want to help the academy" pshh =0=;. I don't need to do that because mr. a talked about me to the vice principal..O_o; scary...But, he showed him my interpretation of sanctuary when they decided to start the academy... so I was like o_O;;;; AGH! MUST FINISH LETTER! i have to get up at 4 ish tomorrow @_@

I'd have to copy text out of my clarinet bible, lol. Basically its using the center or back of your tongue to hit the heart of the reed.. and you need to fold your tongue to do that. I kinda do that, but my tongue isn't long enough so it doesnt articulate as neatly or short. I'll copy it for you later
