Yes!! I got a free Chipwich today. ninja Friend of mine found it in the vending machine, so I guilted him into giving it to me, since he already had a Choco Taco.

Of course him willingly giving me ice cream will just serve as more fuel for all the other boys in our group to make "Skizz and Boy are totally crushing on each other" jokes.. on top of that we're both fat and have shitty hair. BUT WHO CARES, ICE CREAM

So I saw that ANN was looking for reviewers and sent them an email for that, along with a few writing samples. Separately I contacted their editor regarding doing some freelance work for Fanime (since I"ll be there anyways). Their events manager got back to me today:

ANN Events Manager

Dear Jeremy,

I'm familiar with Binary Culture, and I've seen some other samples of
your writing, and ANN would be interested in having you contribute
industry panel reports from Fanime. I will arrange for a press pass to
be available for you. Do keep in mind that our style and scope of
coverage is different from that of most other websites covering the
anime industry. We are particularly focused on new license
announcements and business developments rather than DVD specs or fan
reactions. Our panel reports are also written in an impersonal and
journalistic style, and I would urge you to look over a few of them
from previous conventions to get a sense of it.

As we get closer to the convention, I will be in touch with you with
more specific instructions on what we would like to see covered.
Please note that as of currently, we are not able to pay you for any
contribution. If the articles you submit are approved, you will be
given full writing credit, and we may be interested in using your help
at future conventions, such as Anime Expo and San Diego Comic-Con.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail me.

So...yeah. Awesome. I'll be covering Fanime for Anime News Network. Yaayyy.

Yeah, I don't think I"ll get the critic position, which would be nice since they pay by the article and a little extra money each month would be nice.

I'm just glad that I can contribute and get some more experience to put in my portfolio/resume'.

Finally done with report! You know, why did writing reports in High School seem so hard?

I mean, I was able to write this five page essay in...4 hours tops? [Over the span of several days...] I did the other one in less time and got a 95% on it. It would take me weeks to write a paper in HS, I would never get more than a C.

In my experiences so far, College has been a lot easier than high school. But I'm still in lower level courses, so I guess that might have something to do with it.

Upper division is easier than lower division rofl I think...with upper division, you just get like, one huge paper, and a few tests. Not really any busy work.

So last night, I went to post for an online discussion in my soc class...and I notice "oh, I gotta make sure my weather test is done by Friday" but no. The deadline passed and I felt sick x.x That class is only based on 3 tests...so even acing the other two would give me a 66%. I read on one of the professor's bulletins that there are no make up exams basically no matter what. So I thought "well, I'm ********." I went ahead and sent an email anyway explaining how I screwed up and thought it was Friday for some reason and I understand he gives no make-ups, but asked if there was anything I could do to salvage my grade at this point. I also pointed out how detrimental a D would be since I'm graduating this semester. He got back to me at lightning speed and said he would let me take it but to be more careful next time 4laugh

I've never missed anything in college like this before either. I felt so stupid crying

I had a similar experience with my professor today, he was really cool about it though. Let me turn the paper in without marking it down.
