"They usually have pretty good acts though," she replied, trying to keep the conversation going to distract her from whatever message her body might trying to send, as she was not that good at the interpretation of them anyway. She brightened at his mention of ice cream. "Oh yes, I could definitely go for some ice cream!"
It didn't take long for them to reach the small town square, with the tiny theatre tucked in a corner. She squinted as they came closer, trying to make out what was on the poster plastered to the front door. "Ooh," she exclaimed, as the words became legible, "A hypnotist... that sounds interesting."

[ Oh dear. If Erin were to be the volunteer! rofl This could go a couple different ways. ]
"Really? Okay, we'll have some after!" he replied. He too looked up at the sign and puzzled on it for a moment. A hypnotist...
"I wonder how legitimate this guy is, or if he's just silly like the others I've seen. You know the ones that try and make you act like some kind of animal or something, " he laughed a little.
As they walked up to the ticket booth, he quickly pulled out enough money for the both of them before Michiyo had any time to object. He thanked the clerk and handed Michiyo her ticket, "Where do you want to sit?" As they entered, it was apparently they were a bit early, and had many choices to choose from. The front row was still barren, and he nudged her a little, "Hey..if we sit up front maybe he'll call on you!"

She turned from the poster to him, surprised, "Oh, you've seen a hypnotist before? It's first for me..." She laughed a little, "I'm not sure how well I'd do as an animal though."
She followed him inside, realizing with a start that she had completely forgotten to even bring money, glad but also a bit embarrassed to see that Erin hadn't. Next time, it'll be my treat she memo'd herself mentally before blinking a bit in surprise that she had even thought of a next time.
In the hall she scanned the seats for a good vantage point, turning her gaze towards the front row when Erin pointed it out, "Or you," she retorted, an eyebrow quirked, "Maybe you're the perfect candidate for a monkey transformation."

"A monkey?" He put his hands on his hips, posing a little, "I'd be better as a fierce tiger!"
He laughed a little and hopped to the front, sitting right in the middle of the row. Part of him thought it would be funny to be the volunteer, but part of him also worried about exactly what the hypnotist could do. He sat there for a minute before he craned his neck, looking around. People had started to file in, and the lights flashed to signal the show would be starting soon.
"Do you want a snack or something..?" he offered.

She joined him in the front row, taking in the interior of the theatre with a pleased smile. It had been way too long since she had been able to go and see a show.
She hadn't even realized that one of the staff was selling snacks from a small tray in a corner before Erin offered her some, but before she could answer the light, that had been flashing for a while, dimmed completely.
In front of them, a small spotlight lit a section of the small stage. For a moment, nothing seemed to happen, then there was a small burst of smoke and with the swish of cloak and the removal of a tophat with a sweeping motion, the performer had arrived.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen," the man proclaimed, with a slight accent, arms thrown wide, "I am Fantasmo, and shall take you on a wonderful journey into the mystical ways of the Mind tonight!"
Michiyo shifted in her seat, excited. This sounded promising. Fantasmo started with some small tricks, more magic than hypnotism, before getting to the good stuff.
"Now then, I shall need a volunteer from the audience for my next trick!"

Erin was a little disappointed that they had no time to get a snack, but become more excited at the 'fantastic' Fantasmo started to perform some magic tricks. He weren't too terrible really, and he enjoyed them a lot. Every now and then he chanced a glance at Michiyo to see if she was having fun as well. When Fantasmo inevitably asked for a volunteer, Erin sunk a little in his seat, having second thoughts. With a little point, he tried to direct the man's attention to Michiyo, trying to convince him to choose her as the victim.
Unfortunately, Fantasmo caught on and dragged Erin up on stage instead. He cleared his throat a little and stood there awkwardly, folding his hands behind his back. The glaring stage lights were warm and he began to sweat a little with nervousness. Where he was normally stoic and outgoing, he suddenly felt out of place on the stage. He looked down to the front row where Michiyo sad and gave her a small wave and a nervous smile.

She tried and failed to suppress the snicker that forced its way out of her throat at the sight of Erin on the stage, looking ready to run for the hills. It had been his idea to sit in front, after all. Returning his wave, she gave what she hoped was an encouraging smile - it was tricky to tell while she was still trying not to laugh out loud - then turned her attention to Fantasmo, wondering what the man had in mind.
"Right, young man!" Fantasmo called out, more to the audience than in Erin's actual direction, as he reached into coat pocket and pulled out a gold pocket watch. Dangling it from the chain in front of him, the hypnotist told him, in a soothing voice, "Just keep your eyes on the watch, and listen to my voice."

Oh god, what have I done... He looked up to the ceiling for a moment before nodding and focusing on the swaying watch. He listened to the man's voice and he could feel his consciousness wavering. His last conscious thought was that this guy must really be legitimate, and that he better not do something terrible. Erin stood there, unfocused, staring straight ahead, waiting.

Michiyo watched in amazement as Erin's posture relaxed as he stared at the watch, trying her best not to follow its movements herself, how the nervous tremble in his hands disappeared and before long he stood completely still.
"Alright," Fantasmo said softly, still in his soothing voice, "How about you first introduce yourself to our friendly audience?"

She snorted a bit at his introduction. He sounded nothing like himself.
"Well now, Mr. York," Fantasmo said, nodding slowly, "When you introduce yourself, you should always be polite and bow." He gave a small wave, as if casting some kind of influence.

"Good, good," Fantasmo nodded again, "And who did you bring to my show tonight?" The man stood up a bit, looking in the direction of where Erin had been sitting.
At the question, Michiyo sunk down into her seat, praying to be inconspicious. It was fine to watch Fantasmo asking Erin random questions, or asking him to be a boat or something. She was not planning on joining him on stage.
