Kiah stared at the man and said in an eerily voice, "Not unless I get those files back. We risked too much to save them. Liv, you wouldn't understand that because you weren't there when everything came crashing down," she didn't mean it in a hurtful way, she was just stating a fact.

Sil was deeply appreciative of the he gave her, the re-administered injury throbbing painfully. It was the last of her injuries besides the stitched up stab wound in her shoulder that she knew would persist, and with Lavi’s testimony she considered for a moment that she may need to give up and see if Franzie would do her a service by healing it up. For now, however, she would suffer. As they came upon the familiar room and Lavi unwound from her, she settled patiently at the door figuring she wouldn’t be let in and his actions at first told her that her assumption was correct. She had only been in his room, the room he shared with his mentor, once before and it had been several years ago now.
Lavi proved her assumption wrong with one swift movement, disrupting her balance ever-so-slightly to draw her into the room with him. A flicker of surprise took her features as she carefully stumbled into the room and she looked up at him as if she was shocked by his actions. “What about Bookma—“ before she could even voice her worries over Lavi’s master, his mouth was on hers and all coherent thoughts flew out of her mind. That was the danger of love and lust; giving into it. It was hard to think about much else when even a single moment could satisfy that need to be able to touch another person. Her thoughts of cigarettes, irritation, pain and worry were gone with one heated kiss that she returned with a hint of passion and desperation. Just a few days ago she hadn’t been sure she would ever see Lavi again, let alone touch him, and she ghosted her hand gently down the masculine turn of his jaw to hold the kiss as long as she could have it. Nature always dictated one must eventually come up for air, and when their lips parted she let out a contented sigh.
“Can we never go that long without kissing again? I really thought I was going to kill someone… Had Bookman been in here I might have been on my way to prison tonight. I was starting to feel like I imagined everything that had happened between us in some sort of pre-death blissful haze,” she hadn’t moved her hand, and looking up at Lavi with doting eyes she traced her hand along his neck. Her attention was stolen for a moment as she glanced around the messy room stacked high with books and papers; “Should I even be in here…?” Her voice was worried.

"No, Kiah. I was there! Ugh!" she stomped her foot, partially from frustration at Kiah's stubborn attitude, and partially from trying to stay in control.
"Kiah I was there, I helped start the fire, okay! Kiah if you don't leave right now...I...oh god, Kiah please...I don't want to hurt you!" she shook her head, tugging at her hair anxiously.
Liv was walking a tightrope, balancing on a thin twine between self-control and disaster. She opened her eyes and glanced at Kiah before looking to the man. She stared at him, as if that would make him understand. She bit her lip, turning her back on both of them. She would just walk away. Walking away would fix everything, right? She had probably stunned Kiah with her words, so she'd hardly have time to react to what Liv had said. Bolting, she started to dash toward a side street.

Soma placed a hand in each of his pockets and let his shoulders slump a little. Facing the gun, he took a single step to the side. Ensuring the angle was that much farther away from the girl holding the files. He look to her once she started speaking and their eyes met. He could see the build up within her. Upon seeing her turn her back, Soma, for fear of the gun being turned on the girl with the files and not being able to step in fast enough, stood on the line directly between the gunslinger and the secretary. He walked backward slowly never taking his eyes off the gun.
