Soma had gotten too close. As he was about to slow his pace, a violent strike sent him to the floor. "GYAH!!!" he howled in response. He sat up rubbing the back of his neck furiously and eyed his attacker. He listened to their exchange and while he made the judgment that the gunslinger was holding the pistol at improper range. Soma bide his time with words
"A pistol whip?! Seriously?! The next time you sneak up on someone..." he cut himself off with action.
Using the documents to extend his range, he swatted the gun. Now out of the line of fire, He quickly stood and wrapped his arm around the girl's neck. Resting her throat in the crook of his elbow, and the adjacent hand on the opposite shoulder. He dropped the files in the process of standing and rested the now free hand on the back of her head, applying light pressure. Soma continued where he left off, this time in an audible whisper.
"...try something like this." He held the girl in place until she got the point

Liv froze when the man took hold of Kiah suddenly. She snatched up the papers he had dropped and tucked them close to herself, "I swear to god if you don't let her go, you'll...be in serious trouble! I stood up for you just now! You know, when I told her not to hurt you? Let her go. Now."
She still had that inexplicable feeling that she knew the man, but she ignored it for the time being. She took a little step back and took a moment to look at the papers she was holding. Seeing what they were, her eyes widened at the realization. What...
"Let her go," she said more forcefully, "I'll take you where you want to go if you let her go," she gave him a serious stare.

Kiah watched in surprise as her gun went flying into a snowbank, crying out in distress for the weapon. She struggled with the man when he wrapped his arm around her neck, attempting to wrench herself free from his grip. Grabbing the arm placed firmly on her neck and digging her nails in, she lifted her feet off the ground in an attempt to unbalance him with her weight.
"I don't need advice from a thief!" she hissed, recognizing where the files had come from.
"Liv, what are you saying? Those files are more important!" Kiah yelled angrily, not happy that the man would get what he wanted.

Soma did as he was commanded. He didn't want to harm the girl. Just teach her a lesson. "You would do well to keep your distance next time," he stated in a constructive tone. The distance would have only helped me. he thought. But wouldn't let her know that.
He pulled on the end of his jacket to straighten it out, and turned to the girl holding his files. He extend his hand, palm up, silently gesturing for the files.

"No. Absolutely not. You're going to follow me, and then I'll give them back when I decide it's okay to do so, " she shook her head at the man, taking another step back.
She looked at Kiah with an 'I'm sorry' expression, "I know I've confused you a lot today, Kiah. Please trust me...go get your gun, and go home."
Liv looked back at the man again, the serious stare returning. She continued to scrutinize him as she jerked her head in the direction she had been traveling before the interruption. She wondered if he were as smart to realize, though she thought perhaps not. She swallowed a little and started walking, not looking back at Kiah; She didn't want to see the girl's undoubtedly incredulous look.

He raised an eyebrow at the girl's response. Soma held his hand out a moment longer before retracting it. He watched as "Quickdraw" ran back to her gun and waited until she was out of sight. His attention was now turned to the girl who held the files. He nodded his head up enough for her to see.

Kiah glared at the two, fishing her gun out of the snow and using her coat to clean it off. "You won't be taking OUR files with you. We almost burned to death saving what little we could, and now you think you can waltz away with it? I'm sorry Liv, but I can't have that."
She pointed the gun at the strange man, ready to shoot at a moment's notice. "Give me one good reason I should let you go," she threatened, not caring in the least about what he could do to her.

Liv felt the churning in her stomach again as Kiah pointed the gun at the man. Her entire body filled with dread as the feeling swelled. Her heart started to pound and she closed her eyes tight. It took all of her will power to keep the feeling contained inside herself. She clutched the papers tightly in one arm and started to shake her other hand back and forth rapidly.
"Kiah, you have to leave. Right now. Put the gun away and leave, PLEASE!" she pleaded desperately.
