  Nikolai furrowed his eyebrows at Leon as he heard the explanation. " So the person that outbid me... that was you?" he asked softly. All that pain and suffering... How was Leon even that good at bidding? Did he learn from him? When he learned about the rest of the plot, the Sin merely looked to the side and scratched his head. " All of this... Your tantrum, keeping me from sex, sending me to the PTA meeting, those were all fake? You weren't really angry?"

Leon Court " The banning was real," he said, hands falling to his sides. " I really was upset with you. But I got over it sooner than I let you believe. The PTA meeting was a coincidence that I couldn't pass up." He searched Nikolai's face. " Are you mad? You're mad. I messed this up. I'm sorry, Nikolai, I wanted to make it a good birthday, but being a full time parent, teacher, and husband doesn't exactly make planning super easy." He looked around at the room, suddenly feeling ashamed of his nudity. " I should probably clean this place up," he mumbled to himself.

Nikolai looked at his frantic husband then at his surroundings, crossing his arms. " Well, you outbid me on an item I've been keeping an eye on for months; you kept me from sex for an entire week; you sent me to a PTA meeting where dozens of parents screeched at me; and you reminded me of how old I am. Quite frankly, dearie, things like this would make me furious. I'm at a loss for what to feel, however." Smiling under his breath, the Sin looked back at Leon and stepped forward, cupping his cheek. " Although it's rather hard to stay mad at you. Even when you do all of that to me." He looked down for a second then back up, grinning. " Being naked helps." He gently pulled Leon's head down and kissed him.

Leon CourtWith every word, Leon became more and more nervous. Was this how his grandparents felt when they got divorced? Oh God, he was going to lose his husband. He just knew it. He was going to end up like those old biddies who spent all their time at the community center. He couldn't go back there! Never! He'd rather die! Fortunately, Nikolai kissed him and soothed his fears. With a small smile, Leon kissed back and wrapped his arms around his lover's waist. " Mr. Byko, I sure hope you aren't trying to make me fall in love with you," he teased, remembering distantly how they'd first met all those years ago, how he'd been tricked into dating this little Russian Casanova that fit so perfectly in his arms.

" That's Mr. Court, to you, dearie," Nikolai grinned against Leon's lips before pushing him down on the bed, crawling on top of him. Leon was lucky the Sin was so sex-hungry. If he hadn't gone a week without then his reaction to this surprise party would have been very different. ~~~" Look at that, dearie. It's already making us coffee," Nikolai cooed from beside his husband, cuddled under his blanket while holding up his phone to show that the Luna had activated the kitchen's coffee maker. He knew he shouldn't think it, but he could sure use this to scare Aysun.

Leon CourtLeon looked at his husband's phone, impressed. " Now, ya see, I didn't think this thing would bee this handy," he said, then leaned down to kiss Nikolai's head. " Why don't I get us the coffee? Let you rest a little."

~~~Despite Leon's many attempts, Nikolai didn't seem to show any emotion for each and every comment made about the orphan demon girl. If anything, he looked like he'd fall asleep, and would dismiss the comments, saying they'd talk about it later. Aysun had grown silent, noticing the tension between the two. It was apparent when Nikolai left for the guest bedroom, saying he needed time to think. The boy looked at his other uncle then back to the house, feeling as though he had caused the fight.

Leon CourtAs Nikolai disappeared into the house, Leon took the time to look down at his nephew. He took his hand and his backpack, leading him towards the house. " We aren't fighting," he reassured the child. " We just aren't really agreeing on something at the moment. I don't want you to think you did something wrong, because you didn't."

" But you two started acting weird after I talked about Devyn," the boy said, still showing guilt. Nevertheless, he left the topic alone. He took a bath with his uncle's help then got snuggled in his bed, falling asleep in the middle of the bedtime story read to him. By the time Leon would step out, Nikolai would be waiting at the foot of the stairs. " Are you ready to talk?" he asked.

Leon CourtLeon shut the door to the boy's room, taking a moment to breathe as well as suppress the yawn he felt climbing out of his throat. He turned to the voice, then nodded and moved down the stairs towards his husband. " Maybe we should just drop it," he started, not wanting to have yet another argument.

" No, that wouldn't do," Nikolai shook his head. He hesitated then suddenly avoided Leon's gaze, a strange expression on his face.. " There's something I've been needing to talk to you about, anyway, and this is probably the best time to say it." Still avoiding his husband's stare, the Sin walked up the stairs and urged the man to follow. " Come. I don't want... prying ears to overhear," he mumbled as he retreated into the bedroom.

Leon CourtOh God, this was it. They were going to get divorced, he just knew it. This is worse than when he found out Maggie had died. This was worse than when Melody died. Worse than- wow, okay, he had encountered a lot of death in his life. Maybe he should talk to someone about that. No wonder he went crazy a couple months back. Okay, focus on his failing marriage! Geez, maybe this was why they were getting divorced. He clearly was the one that would get Aysun, since Nikolai was pretty, you know, laidback when it came to parenting. He would get the cabin, Nikolai gets the house, they could probably split the stocks fifty/fifty. Maybe he should call a lawyer? Walking into the bedroom, Leon shut the door behind them and held up his hands. " Look, if you don't want the kid, I'll understand. I mean, it's not like we need another one. Aysun's pretty interesting on his own!" he tried to say, willing himself not to cry and beg for Nikolai to stay married to him.

Nikolai waited in the bedroom, arms crossed and his back leaned against the counter as he watched Leon walk in. How was he going to say this...? He didn't even want to think about what would happen afterwards. Once he gets this off his chest, things wouldn't be the same, would they? The Sin rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. " I've been thinking about this for some time, and-" He stopped when Leon tried to bargain, looking over at him with a bemused look. " What? No, it's not about that. Well, I mean, it is, but - Ugh." He sighed and got off the dresser, stepping in front of Leon with a stern look on his blushing face. " We both know I've never been one for children. I do the bare minimum in terms of care. However, the longer time went on the more I began to love our little boy and... Mmm, goodness me, I never thought I'd hear myself say this," the Sin murmured. He stopped to run his fingers through his hair, looking around nervously as if he were about to ask his crush out to prom. Taking a deep breath, he looked back up at his husband. " What I want to say, dearie, is that I'm willing to adopt that girl. More than that girl, other children too. I took a look at the guest bedrooms and I think we could fix them up to suit her, and the other could hold two. Honestly the children's rooms could hold two each but I don't know how kids would react to that what with growing up and such..."

Leon CourtLeon listened intently to his husband, his mind going a million miles a minute. By the time Nikolai looked up at him, his face was a dark red, tears brimming up in his eyes. He sniffed, lower lip trembling. He understood, alright. Nikolai was humoring him before they broke up! How cruel, to do that to such fragile feelings! What did he do to deserve this kind of treatment? How stupid did Nikolai think he was? No way, the Russian would consent to adopting that many kids. He was barely okay with keeping Aysun. How cruel! " If you want a divorce, you don't have to play with me like that!" he whined, suddenly feeling so much smaller than he was. " There's no way you want to adopt more kids. You didn't even want to adopt Aysun. Either you're being mean, or you're secretly a shapeshifter again, and my heart can't handle either of those."

Nikolai blinked both at the expression and the comments that followed. " Divorce...? Goodness, where is this coming from?" he asked then gently set a hand on Leon's arm. " Leon, I don't want to divorce you. I'm telling you the truth, darling. Having Aysun around has opened my eyes to what it's like to be a father, and I want to have more kids with you. I'm telling you that I want to adopt that demon girl. Where on earth did you get ideas of divorce from that, hmm?"
