I remember it clearly
The day you slippedaway
Was the day I found itwon't be the same
[Hauntedheart pressed against Cinderwing for a few more seconds before she left his side and padded into her den. She grabbed a mouthful of cobwebs and padded back to Birchshadow. She knelt down by Birchshadow and passed some cobwebs to Shateredfang and Cinderwing.] "Put these on her neck to clean her up," she mewed softly. [The medicine cat began to treat the fallen warrior, gently pressing the cobwebs against Birchshadow's neck. As Lavenderrain spoke, Hauntedheart's eyes widened and she whipped her head around to glare at her leader. Was she mouse-brained? One of her warriors was dead and she wouldn't even sit vigil for her? Her crystal eyes blazed with anger toward her leader.] "No Lavenderrain, you are not getting your nine lives tonight for I am not going to the half-moon gathering. Unlike you, I am staying here to sit vigil for one of my clan mates!" she spat, "So you can't get your lives until I go since my mouse-brain apprentice can't do it himself." [Without another word, Hauntedheart turned away from her leader and back to Birchshadow. The she-cat smiled softly at Cinderwing, letting him know that she would sit with him tonight.]

[Lavenderrain looked at her clan with dismay but she had to find a way to make them see that she realized she was wrong.]
"Okay, that's fair isn't it? Because Fathom left Nightclan and the leadership responsibilities were suddenly thrust upon me. I expected him to stay longer than that and to teach me what a real leader is. But no, he left. And now my clan will spite me for not knowing what to do for them? I made a mistake and I'm not your perfect leader so I'm being punished. Okay then, I'm done. I'm sorry." she mewed her throat clogging up.
[To be hated by cats of your clan. Now that was horrible.
She padded silently to her den.
Putting her head on her paws, she sat there for a long time listening to the murmurings and movement of her clan.]

[Shatteredfang sighed, the anger slowly going away, but some still remained.] "You didn't kill her, twolegs did," She meowed, not turning. "Just go and save yourself the time. I won't pity you." She meowed coldly. [She rasped her tongue across Birchshadow's flank. It was unnaturally cold. She sighed, taking the cobwebs from Hauntedheart. "Thank you," she murmured, pressing them on her neck wounds. Her ears twitched at Hauntedheart's arguement. Her eyes softened slightly, and she looked up at Hauntedheart, blinking in thanks.]

 [Hawkmoon lookecd around for Blackflame, his gaze drifting around camp. Finally he spotted her,and bounced around.Jumping up to her.]"Hello,do you mind if we go for a walk?" [He asked her, wondering that she would say yes. He loved the pretty black and flame colored she-cat for some reason he couldn't explain.]

[Foxfur hissed quietly. Why was everyone fighting? He glared at Shatteredfang and padded up to his leaders den, peering in]
"It's not your fault, Lavenderrain. I understand that you're just getting used to being a leader and suddenly having to look after every cat. If it's anyone's fault, it's mine. I didn't check on the traps after we sprung them the first time. My guess is the twolegs are somehow coming onto our territory and fixing them. I also smelled foxes and found a pile of their dung.."
[He shivered in digust. The Tom detested foxes, having mo idea why his mother decided to name him Foxkit]
[Willowheart frowned. Couldn't they just stop fighting and focus on Birchshadow. She sat down, beckoning Richpaw over with her tail]
"After all this is over, let's go hunting. I need to get out of this camp. There's too much sadness..." she trailed off unhappily.

Since Lavenderrain wasn't going to wish Birchshadow off to StarClan she would.] "Warriors of StarClan, today NightClan lost a honorable warrior, Birchshadow. She had many years of life left to give to the clan but a twolegged trap took her from us. I hope she is with you now watching over us," the she-cat mewed, "Birchsahdow, NightClan and I wish you safe hunting in StarClan. We miss you terribly but we know you are watching over us, now and forever." [The medicine cat dipped her head and closed her eyes. She stayed like that for a few seconds before opening her eyes and looking at Cinderwing. She smiled softly at the tom and touched his shoulder with her tail.]

[Foxfur sighed quietly]
"Anyways, Lavenderrain, I just thought I should let you know. You're going to be a great leader. If you'll excuse me.."
[He dipped his head and padded out of the den, walking down to the assembled cats]
[Willowheart looked up, and cast a sad look at Foxfur. The both of them sat down next to each other. Willowheart frowned, sadness clouding her eyes]
"You will never be forgotten, Birchshadow.."

Shatteredfang felt tears streak her face, and she shook a little. She cleared her throat. "Birchshadow, if you're watching over us now, I would like to say this," she meowed. "I remember when you, Cinderwing, Larchkit, and Cinderstreak were brought to NightClan after being found with your dead mother," she meowed. "From when I first met, as Littlepaw, I knew you would turn into a fine warrior, and hopefully leader one day. You were gracious, loving, compassionate, and caring." She dipped her head. Birchshadow's life suddenly flashed through her head. "I, and the rest of us were honored to know you. You would have been a proud aunt, and hopefully mother one day. When they are born, a few moons from now, I will let your spirit live on in my kits," she meowed, bowing. "You will be missed, and I hope to see you in StarClan one day."
Cinderwing froze, gazing blankly at Shatteredfang. "Kits," he echoed. She was going to have kits? He almost got angry, but smiled, happy for his friend. "Congratulations," he meowed, nosing her before gazing down at Birchshadow once more. But something surprised him even more. Who was Cinderstreak?
He sighed. "Your death came too soon," he whispered, leaning on Hauntedheart slightly. He was dizzy. He didn't want to collapse on anyone.

[Hauntedheart supported Cinderwing. She pressed against the tom, helping him stand. She smiled at Shatteredfang, happy for the she-cat] "Congratulations, to both you and Darkshadow," she mewed. [Hauntedheart smiled at Cinderwing and gave him a comforting lick on the cheek. Her crystal eyes were warm and comforting for the tom.] "It's going to be okay, " she mewed.
