Sil kept silent throughout the entire healing ordeal with Franzie; she was still injured in several places, but even if the young woman had offered she decided to refuse. Sorcery had gotten her in enough trouble lately, and sometimes it was good to be reminded of mortality. She wasn't exactly in fighting shape, but she knew that her Innocence would likely take from her blood and heal her arm when she had enough in her to activate. The foot she could deal with; inconvenient, yes, but the pain from a broken bone there she could bear through. The process she did regard with curiosity, and she deeply hoped there would be no ill side effects for Lavi as sorcery usually seemed to entail.
As she said her goodbyes and headed out of the door, Sil tilted her head up to look at Lavi as he made his request. “Sure, of course,” she smiled a little bit, “You just barely escaped the infirmary. I didn’t think the first thing you would want to do would be staring at a charred room shifting through paper carnage with me."
The movement of the other young man in the hallway caught her eye, however, and she noticeably looked after him with a slight scowl falling on her brow. The young man didn’t look familiar to her, and considering the heightened security of The Order she doubted that they had done any “hiring” lately, so to speak. “Hey!” She called, taking the logical approach before the suspicious one. After all, Mizaka and Jack seemed to be dragging around plenty of new faces lately, so it was better not to jump to conclusions. “You one of Mizaka’s friends? If you are, you’re walking right by where she is!”

Soma heard something. So lost in his rapid, fleeting thoughts, that something sounded far off. He continued walking, possibly lost to the world for a few more moments.

Lavi shrugged a little, letting his hand holding the book drop by his side again. "I've been lying around in a bed for so long, I just want to do something useful..." At this moment, he would do any boring job if it meant a little alone time with her. Stretching his arms as he walked out into the hallway, eyes closed for a bit as he untensed his muscles, he was unaware of another person passing them by until Sil spoke up. He followed her gaze to the unfamiliar man, eyebrows knotted, waiting for him to answer her question. When the stranger seemingly ignored her and kept walking, Lavi called out to him a little louder and took a few steps in his direction. "Hey, you! We're talking to you!"

Soma noticed the movement before the words caught up with him. His chest tensed for a moment and then he relaxed. With his attention undiminished, the pair came into focus.
"Oh, hello," he said nonchalantly, "I was just on a milk run. Delivering these files."
Slightly shifting the documents in his grasp. He scanned the two and was taken aback by the girl. Were his hand not full, Soma most certainly would have reached for her hand and held it gingerly, to introduce himself as a gentleman should.

Sil had been a little insulted for a moment when the man continued onward like he hadn't heard them, though she was sure she had been talking loud enough a deaf man might have gotten the idea. Her eyebrows knitted further, though she relaxed slightly when the man responded to Lavi's more aggressive inquiry.
"To who?" She asked a little suspiciously, "Are you new here...? I haven't met you before, and I usually meet the knew people involved in the Science Division." Her brown eyed gaze rested on his face as she questioned him, though it soon tracked downward to inspect him a little more closely, coming finally to rest on the files in his hand. "New guys don't usually have the clearance to get a hold of files."

So many questions these two... Soma had almost grown tired of the inquisition.
"I'm on loan from another branch," he responded sternly and stood a little straighter. He wanted to reach for the coin in his pocket. But the files prevented it. He sighed lightly instead.
"If you'll excuse me, punctuality is one of my strong suits, so I must be going." He said waiting for their collective permission before he took his leave.

Lavi crossed his arms and pursed his lips a little in thought. Maybe before he would have accepted the story without a lot of thought, but after everything that had happened, he was constantly on alert. He didn't know all the members of the other branches, so it might have been possible, but he wasn't about to take risks. He looked at Sil and raised his eyebrows quizzically, wondering what she thought about it.
He didn't want to immediately point and accuse the stranger of doing something he might be perfectly allowed to do. In order to stall the young man a little, he looked back at him. "What's your name?"

Luckily, they seemingly brushed past a few of the questions for which he didn't have answers. He analyzed them both quickly and realized they both shifted their weight often. Weak points. Easily exploitable if necessary... The stranger considered the "easy" way out. A short deliberation, he decided to see where this would go. What's the harm in being honest? He too shifted his weight to one foot before responding.
"My name is Soma. And you are?" he inquired, trying to build a counter-suit in his head.

Sil's face didn't betray much of what she was thinking. She knew that her own viewpoint of most individuals was a little skewed by her recent experience and she knew that was no reason to be rude to someone who had been sent over to another branch.
"Well Soma, it's nice to meet you," she said, trying to keep the tone in her voice even. "I'm Sil. It's always nice to meet new comers to the branch. We're headed in that direction anyway," she gestured between her and Lavi, since his room was in that direction, "so why don't you walk with us and we'll get to know you a little bit better, huh? Especially if you're going to be hanging out with us here for a while. We're like family around here." A genuine smile touched her face, thinking perhaps he was a little distanced because he was in a new and unusual place. It was the least they could do, to get to know him and make him feel a little more welcome.

They weren't making this easy. A hitch in his plans. But how did one become more resourceful without being tested? He nodded his head and faked a smile with one side of his mouth.
"I am much obliged but don't let me come between the two of you." he tried to say in a non abrasive manner. Soma paged through his mind for an out and may have found it.

"I'm Lavi." He had nodded his approval of Sil's plan, relaxing slightly, but he wouldn't let his guard down just yet. He noticed his hand had been tensing around the pocket of his sweatpants where he'd stuffed his hammer and he clenched and unclenched it a little.
"There's nothing to come between of." He said, emphasizing the lie by shrugging a little with an expression as if that was supposed to be obvious. He didn't like how easily the words denying their relationship came to him every time again, although it pained him on the inside. There wasn't much they could do in public anyway, which is why he'd wanted to go to his room in the first place. And he really did need to dump the book. "Come on, just walk with us for a bit." He smiled at him.

"Pleased to meet you," he feigned.
Were it feasible, he would have rolled his eyes. Instead, he lightened the expression on his face. Here we go. The plan had holes. He could only think of one thing to fill in the gaps. He began to imagine how hard it would be to breathe if one's chest became heavier.
"Well if you insist," he said as he waited for them to lead the way. Soma's breathing slowly became increasingly labored.
((Okey dokey Sil. I should be heading to bed soon as well.))
