little mintchan Gregar828 ............sigh. I dont even know what suddenly spured this anti twilight moment. Its gone now. not to be rude but.... stop doing that thing where you say to stop one of our random conversations like the twilight thing or political thing...shouldn't we be able to express our feelings and opinions of that subject as we please? .-. again not to be rude but it's my nature to speak what i'm thinking I know this was a few pages back, but I'm answering it because its important. Who ever said I dont let you talk about twilight? There are a few topics that I restrict, which include, but are not limited to: Religion, Rape, some Politics, and Death (when talked about as a joke). My reasoning is that, while the majority of you are good people, this IS the internet. You always find that one person who creates a huge argument, causing peoples feelings to get hurt, causing them to quit, and so on and so forth. I have those restrictions set in place for the protection of everyone, not because I feel like being a douche and abusing my power.

Little mitchan i just went back and re read the whole convo and i didnt see any spot witch greg said stop talking about this so your comment is total bs. no your not able to talk about anything you want not only because this guild has rules but the entire website does. greg is right about this and he is stopping it for good reasons.

Not discussing topics like Rape and Death as a joke... yeah, that makes sense, because both are very serious issues that should never be joked about by anyone.
However, restricting conversations about Religion and Politics is BS and rather dictatorial. we should feel free to have candid and open discussions on a wide variety of subjects so long as it is done in a peaceful and non-offensive manner.Can such discussions get heated and can some people lose their cool at times?... Yes, absolutely.
...but that doesn't give you the right to abolish all discussion regarding them. That's dictatorial and more or less wrong. Freedom of Speech is vital... and we should feel free to discuss religion and politics as we like, so long as we are doing so in a respectful manner.

and i disagree with you cobra. while freedom of speech is vital the right to slander is not. if you look through the guild he does not stop convos with religion and politics when they are calm and non-offensive. he only does it when they get out of hand. he is not a dictator he is more of a guardian of the guild. Some areas of politics tend to get very heated and i think he has every right to stop them before people form blood feuds. as for religion i must say that when it comes to my own religion i can get very defensive. (not because i am insecure i just dont like people making fun of Catholicism.) there are very many points that many religions differ on and i have seen it lead to enormous fights. so to keep thins from getting out of hand i think its a great idea for greg to monitor these things.

We're actually in agreement dude. I advocated him to moderate things... but I don't like the word 'Restrict' as it seems to imply the discussion of Politics and religion isn't allowed at all.
I mentioned in my post that people should feel free to discuss them so long as it is done in a Peaceful and Non-Offensive manner. So we're actually in complete agreement.

Do you mean the Crucifix? I don't think I've ever heard of a crucible.
Though my spellcheck assures me that it's a real word, so I dunno.
Mint, I really do hate to say something that will most likely cause an argument despite it's rather innocent nature, but it's impossible to be "A bit" of anything. You either are or you aren't. Just because your parents had your head dunked when you were a baby does not make you a catholic, no matter what they'd like you to believe. To be a part of ANY religion requires that you actively seek to be a part of it. If you can say "I'm a bit catholic, but not really.", then you aren't a catholic at all. That's like me saying "I'm kind of male.", while I walk into the women's restroom wearing a skirt to change my tampons.

I feel the slight need to make it known that I do not wear skirts, or tampons. I may or may not have been in a women's restroom though. I don't go into them very often however, so it's a moot point.

The Crucible is a actually a book that was written about the Salem Witch Trials. Catholics played a huge role in the Crucible, having been the ones that put supposed "witches" on trial. This is actually the root of sexism, since women bore the blunt end of superstition and misogyny. They were persecuted, hanged, and put on trial for being possessed by the devil.
All in all, The Crucible is a book about a particular trial of a woman by the Catholic Church.
And there you have it; one of the many roots of sexism.
@Minty- Sorry, I agree with Hinote. You're either all the way Catholic, or you're not Catholic at all.

Actually, the root of sexism is in Genesis someplace where it says the woman is to be the servant of the man. While some will take that and turn it into a horrible offense, because nobody should be servant to anybody, the fact is, that was the way things used to be. Hell, I know plenty of women who believe that's the way things are still meant to be. Maybe not so much as that women have no rights, but they don't think women should be trying to overthrow men.
Silly feminists want to make women better than men, so they try to become the men. Strange that.
