"I don't think it'll take much longer..." He smiled at her fondly, not at all thinking she was being selfish. He wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, himself, and he was frustrated at how they wouldn't let him go despite the fact that he felt perfectly fine. "My arms are almost completely healed, my leg just needs some more time... although personally I think I can just hobble around on crutches, but they don't seem to want to take any chances. It's a large area that can get infected, or something..." He shrugged a little, not knowing much of the details. He watched the little silver golem's flight towards Sil's head. He'd never actually seen it before, but because of its resemblance to Timcampy, he didn't need to ask where it came from and he imagined it was via the golem that she'd been able to get into contact with Cross, wherever he was.
A nurse joined them at his bedside and she started to remove the bandages on one of his arms. He watched her slowly unwind the white strips and tried hard not to frown too noticeably at the dark pink patches of skin she uncovered. She ran her fingers on the scars a bit. "It seems they've closed completely now... You don't need the bandages anymore." She informed him and discarded the bundle in a trashcan before starting to remove those on his other arm.
"Well, that's a start." He grinned at Sil.

(( Sorry to interrupt. I won't be here long. LOL. ))
Cross and Claire had arrived safely at their destination. They were in the heart of New York City, probably the safest place for them. With such a dense population, it would he harder for them to be tracked by anyone. Cross had them settled in a small apartment, and Claire had set to unpacking their things, though she kept an emergency case with supplies, just in case they needed to get away quickly. She set the communicator on a desk for Cross, knowing he would want to contact Sil immediately.
With a small sigh and a sweep of his hair, Cross held the earpiece up with one hand, the microphone with the other. He switched the device on and waited for the connection to become complete before speaking, "Decchi, are you there?" He moved to the bed, sitting down on it.

At first sight of Lavi's injuries, Sil couldn't stop herself from frowning, her eyes resting steadily on the sight of the damage that his fight with Jacob had done. With her legs tucked up it was easy enough for her to slide down a little, hiding the bottom half of her face behind her knees, but the displeasure could still be seen in her eyes. The familiar feeling of anger bubbled up inside of her; it was one thing for her to be injured, but the idea that Lavi, or anyone else near to her heart had been harmed made her furious. She swallowed the feelings, though, and moved to rest her chin atop her knees where she placed a smile back on her lips. "That is good news, though I don't know what in Heavens name possessed you to come after me in this state," she still hadn't heard the details of how Lavi and Liv were both involved with her rescue. "You could've really hurt yourself..." The features of her face became worried, imagining what could have happened if Lavi had run into a Noah, or worse. "Not that I'm... not... eternally grateful... which I am... A thousand times over..."
Sil jumped a little as Tannie open her fanged mouth as a communicator again, completely flustered by how easily she seemed to become frightened lately. The grainy voice on the other end, however, quelled another one of her worries for the time being. "I'm here," she said, scootching Tannie off of her head so she would fly where she could hear better. "I'm in the infirmary," she paused, realizing she had said that she had been fine when he spoke to her, and quickly added; "with Lavi, not for me."

Cross paused before responding, "I see...well we made it here safely. Have there been any attacks since I left? I didn't even ask the other day, I...forgot. Listen..."
He paused again, taking a deep breath and letting it out, away from the microphone. He had to make up for his behavior during their previous conversation. He couldn't stay angry with her, and he couldn't leave the air between them filled with smoke. He hated the tension between them, and he had to admit that essentially all of it was his fault.
"I want to apologize for my behavior during our last conversation. I was out of line. I respect your decision, and the reasoning behind it, even if I do not agree with you. You know how highly I think of you, and we have always respected each others' ideas and opinions...I would like to keep it that way. I still stand by what I said, but I was out of line to snap at you. I've been under some stress lately, and I know that isn't an excuse, but it has put me on edge. I hope that you can forgive me," he finished, closing his eyes and laying back on the bed.

When the nurse had removed all the bandages and had moved away again Lavi examined his arms a little, running his hands over the bare skin that felt oddly cold after having been wrapped in something for so long. He had just opened his mouth to respond to Sil when the golem on her head opened its mouth as well and he could make out Cross' voice on the other end. He closed it again, staying silent as he tried not to look as if he was listening in, not sure he was really supposed to hear this conversation, even though Cross was aware he was there. He busied himself with admiring the flowers on his bedside table as he wondered what had happened between the two, head still tilted slightly towards Sil and the golem so he could hear more clearly.

Sil swallowed, hard, and looked towards the door. At this point... well, it didn't matter if she left the room or not. She swore inwardly, cursing the fact that she was still hurting and couldn't exactly go sprinting out of the room before the words were said.
"It's fine, I understand. I didn't exactly keep my head either," she said evenly, trying not to give away any emotion in her voice even if she felt a hundred of them at once. She addressed that part of his monologue first, because she knew that whatever she said second would leave the subject more-or-less unspoken. "I'm glad that you and Claire are somewhere safe, though. That honestly takes a great weight off my shoulders," she smiled apologetically at Lavi. "All of our shoulders, really... We would much rather have you safe. I just hope you heal quickly and can return home..."
"Can I contact you myself through Tannie? There wasn't any other attacks but... from what I heard there was a fire that I can gather more information on and contact you later, if that's possible," there was a very professional tone to her voice, intentionally. "I think it's important but I..." Haven't been in the shape to investigate, is what she should have said, "haven't the chance to investigate quite yet. In fact, Lavi's keen eye might help me look into it a little better... It might be coincidental, though."

"A fire? Where? Look...gather information on it, and contact me later. Just tell Tannie you need to talk to me, she'll know what to do. I have to go," he clicked off the connection.
Cross had intentionally left the other subject alone, not wanting to talk about it any further. He avoided her comment about him returning soon, because he knew full well that he would be away...well, indefinitely. The talk of a fire troubled him, especially the way Sil had put it. He put his hand to his face and rubbed his eyes with another sigh. Things had continued to spiral downwards and out of control, at what felt to him like the speed of light. He wanted everything to go back in time, desperately, but he knew this was the reality Sil had talked about, the reality that she had reasoned, would be better for them to face if they were only Master and Apprentice. He clenched his jaw and stifled his thoughts, setting about distracting himself with some research.
