((Back...except not really. I'm going to bed now since I have to get up extra early for the field trip tomorrow. I won't be back until late in the evening, so if any serious posting goes on while I'm gone, just pretend Mizaka and Jack left to report to their bosses...or something >_>;

Lavi had been thinking about the conversation between Mizaka and Sil the day before. The fact that all of it seemed irreversible worried him a lot, especially when Mizaka had given them such a bleak outlook on Sil's chances on successfully controlling her 'Artificial Magic'. Even after Jack's somewhat reassuring words, hers had been more prominent in his mind. It had given him trouble sleeping, tossing and turning all night, mulling their words over in his head, which is why he was now staring out in front of him with tired eyes, trying not to nod off. He didn't want to fall asleep again. He felt like he'd slept enough to last him a lifetime, although his body clearly did not agree. He had asked a nurse for some coffee, although he didn't particularly like it, but she had told him he'd better stick to water for the time being. Bookman had visited him after he had returned from a Bookman-related trip, and had scoffed at him for how his severest injury had been mostly caused by himself. 'Stupid Apprentice'. But he had seemed glad that he wasn't hurt that bad.
He sighed deeply. Being in this bed all day was driving him crazy and he glared down at his leg, willing it to heal faster.

Sil had managed to escape the infirmary, but it hadn't been without thorough and well thought persuasion of the Head Nurse. The young woman had been up at the crack of dawn unwilling to attempt sleep again and irritated by the idea of being sedated again, thus the battle began. At first they were relenting on not letting her go but she finally won the argument.
"a) I can't sleep anyway. b) If I pass out or something, there's people everywhere. It's not like a little fall is gonna kill me, and c) I'm going go whether you like it or not, but at least if you give me permission I'm likely to come back," the third was the one that made the woman reluctantly agree, and Sil did actually mean her words. She just needed to get up and burn off some of her pent up nervous energy, unable to handle the thoughts swarming around in her head any longer. With the reluctant good graces of the staff, she took the short walk to the Common Room and spent a little time moving rubble out of the way, piece by piece using her one good arm.
It may have not done much, but she had to do something to help. Liv was continuously on the young Exorcists mind, wondering what had happened to her after she had aided The Order twice in such a short time period. Then, of course, she hadn't heard from Cross since their rather unpleasant conversation. Every time she moved, cleaned something up, started to return normalcy to the room Sil at least felt like she was doing something. Eventually she shifted some rubble away from the edge of the couch and uncovered the familiar back cover of a book. She picked it up, inspecting the damage to it; dusty, certainly, and the leather cover had taken some hits. The outside of it was also marred with singe marks, but as she flicked through some of the pages they seemed mostly intact.
The find spurred her to return to the infirmary, limping back into the rather quiet room slowly with her still broken foot. The movement was precarious with the book being held tightly by her free arm, the one that would have normally caught her if she fell. A smile was on her lips when she spotted Lavi awake again, moving over to settle in the chair next to his bed before placing the damaged book on the edge of the covers. "I found something of yours."

When Sil entered the infirmary he looked up at her with a broad smile, happy for the distraction from general bedridden boredom. He'd wanted to get discharged as well, when she had been able to convince the Head Nurse to let her leave, but he'd been overruled. His leg needed a little more rest before he could walk on it again.
He gasped when she placed the book on his bed, a pang of sadness hitting him at the battered sight of it. He'd dropped it on the floor in the moment of chaos that was Liv's reappearance, but after everything that had happened after it had completely slipped his mind. He laid it down on his lap and flipped through it slowly, glad to see the inside had mostly escaped the battles in the Common Room. After placing it on his bedside table he smiled at her gratefully, rubbing his hands together to rid them off the dust that it had left on them. "Thanks. I'm glad it didn't get burned... that would've sucked." He grumbled a little, thinking he didn't really need more reasons to hate Jacob.

"I would have made you another one," she said gently, tucking her bared legs carefully up into the chair with her, leaving her able to fiddle with her bandaged ankle and foot. Even though she knew she had the good graces to leave, Sil knew she would be in the infirmary often until Lavi was discharged, but at least knowing she had freedom left her feeling much happier.
She paused for a moment, shifting a little nervously as the thoughts came back to her again. "Did they tell you how much longer you were going to have to stay in here...? I'm glad that you're at least staying put until you heal this time, but..." she didn't say it out loud, but she missed when they at least had the option of being alone together for a minute. Ever since the attacks happened they had been separated, and after a few days of not knowing whether Lavi had been alive or dead, whether she was ever going to see him again... Well, that made the distance even harder. She shook her head a little bit though when she realized how skewed her priorities were. "Sorry... I'm being selfish... I really just want you to get better... Really. It doesn't matter how long it takes..."
Tannie shimmied out from under the pillow on that Sil had been inhabiting, silvery body shimmering a little in the light. Tannie gave her an irritated "look" before coming to rest atop her head, as if she had been worried about the girl.
