Only to stop the Darkside from contaminating anyone else. The way I play him, he doesn't want anything bad to happen to anyone, even the sith.
Notice how he refers to them as "Agressive Force Users"... It's just his belief that redemption lies in everyone, and if stopping someone by becoming dark is what it takes, he'd do it, then kill himself.

Yep, Imperius gets a scar from Neb, turns to good, Terra goes beserker and returns in COTGCW2 as the new Master. Yeah sure, Cale can retire to Dagobah and be a pimp while we're at it.
Im just WAY to lazy to write it out. I will, someday, you'll see.

aka, the kill himself part. He has that much determination in him. And if I was to be advising it, you would understand that Neb would only go to the dark side when there is no other choice, including just let the other guy slip away so he didn't have to.
Take the hypothetical fight between Imperious and Neb on a damaged Star destoryer. He would rather Destroy Imperious by exploding the ship or releasing an airlock permanently than go evil... even if it meant that he'd die.
So Dark side just isn't him. He's too good natured anyway. Its like saying Mace Windu would just pop over a bit, or Yoda for that manner.
