Shannon laughed along with them, actually enjoying herself. For his part, Sayid was glancing down the table at Boone and Claire who had yet to speak for their entire time there.

" Florida is warm then?" He asked finally. " Does it have any deserts?" Shannon chuckled.

Heather bit her tounge on laughing on that one. Obviosly Sayid doesn't know much about the states. "The exact oposite really. Now granted the trees loss their leaves at the end of the year, but other than that it's green and brown all around. The maskitos are a pain. That and the fire ants."

"Oh. It sounds lovely." Sayid said sarcastically. He felt more than a little embarrassed. Shannon smiled endearingly.

" When we get out of here, I'll take you around traveling so we can see the states..."

Sawyer sat back in his chair, and grabbed another peice of mango.
Civilized conversation wasn't one of his strong suites.
So instead of risking saying something stupid, Sawyer just sat in scilence.
He looked to Sayid with a cold stare.

(I'm just going to RP Boone and Claire randomly in this post so that we can move the dinner along and hope that they don't mind)

"So you've never been to the states?" Boone said finally. He caught sight of the glare that Sawyer was giving Sayid and tried to start conversation once more.

"No. I was on my way there obviously but we crashed." Sayid replied.

"I've never been there either." Claire added, delicately sucking on a piece of fruit.

"Well, then the four of us can...I don't know. Go traveling around then..." Shannon said, aware that she was repeated her previous comment. " It'd be fun...kind of like a road trip."

'I've never been on a 'road trip' either..." Sayid laughed, glad that he knew the slang for once.

"That's ridiculous. Road-trips are like...apart of growing up." Shannon said incredulously. Boone nodded.

"Even I went on one with some friends. I really gives you a persepective, you know? On your own with people you care about, no parents, fend for yourselves...I mean, we're obviously grown up now...well most of us." He shot a look in Shannon's direction who promptly glared. " And we'll have more money but the principle is the same." He handed Claire a small berry and popped it between her lips. He could practically feel Sawyer rolling his eyes, sure that was what the conman was doing.

" Have you ever gone on a road-trip?" Shannon asked, adressing Sawyer and Heather.

"Without my parents?" asked Heather, "No I havn't. I was... what one would call a geek. And a nerd considering how much I liked science and math. Only I did not like this one video the teacher showed us. Have any of you ever seen snales making out?"
As soon as she said it she realized that that was not a good topic during a meal.

Shannon felt a small surge of nausea at the mental picture this produced. Sun hadn't returned with the tea and the thought of snails making out...Shannon wasn't a bugs kind of girl.

"Never have and don't want to." She said swiftly.

The food once again looked delicious. The snails were out of Shannon's mind quickly enough. She smiled at Heather and reached her plastic fork out towards the platter of fish. She couldn't reach and glanced at Sawyer. "Can you please pass that over here?"

Sawyer pushes the plate across the table, towards Shannon.

" I used to go on all sorts of road trips in my early twenties. In fact, me and my buddies did it at least once every couple months. Great fun, I gotta tell you."
