The man handed Shaydra her pendant and was about to walk away when Shaydra blurted out, "Sir, I was wondering about what you said. My grandfather is a trader and he has heard some rumors that he would like to confirm."
"What do you think I know?" The man asked, eyes twinkling.
"Well, the way you said it sounded-"
"Say no more," the man said, smiling. He leaned over and eyed Shaydra closely, who looked back nervously. "You're a...dragon, I suppose."
"Well, umm, y-yes," Shaydra stumbled over the words, narrowing her eyes at the man.
"I won't tell," the man chuckled. "I suppose I should tell you, just to try and end this crazy war, whoever wins." He rubbed the stubble on his chin. "Well, I can't tell you much. This black dragon, Shagon, might attack a trading city to cut off supplies, and it could be Caladear. But I've heard some men say they might attack this town instead. Actually, he probably will, since this is also a trading city, and it's much closer to his forces. It'll cause a chain reaction across the whole country."
He sighed. "I better pack up; more moments wasted is more moments Shagon's son might do something to tip this whole war over." He walked away before Shaydra could say a thing.
Shaydra looked after him, eyes wide. Then she ran down the street to find Falcor.

Sigilos smiled, ahh, the impatience of the young. Without opening his eyes, he spoke.

*If you wish to skip the basics, very well. After all, who am I to train one as wish as yourself? Here, catch.*

As he finished speaking, he tossed a small glob of fire to Tyros. Unless the young one could catch it with magic, it would just burn anything it touched.

Falcor saw Shaydra and rushed up to her. She looked like she had news too, "Please go ahead, you have news."

He gently pulled Tyros back into his seat, and placed his palm above the burnt hand.

*I was trying to prove a point. You're not ready yet to use magic like that. If you can't catch a small flame, how will you catch a real, very powerful spell when your in a fight, or how will you deflect it? If you learn the basics first, then everything else will be easy to learn. Would you try to learn how to use a sword by swinging around a rock? No, you would learn the basics, such as blocking, and positions, the things that are built on by everything else.*

As he finished, his palm began to glow a soft blue, and gentle, caressing flames stroked the burned hand, healing it wherever they touched.

*There, now will you learn?*

Shaydra looked around. "I suppose we tell the others, then decide what to do. It's getting dark. Let's ge back." She started walking rapidly in the direction off the inn.

Shaydra entered the Inn, ran up the stairs, and opened the door after fumbling with her keys. She saw Sigilos and Tyros in the center of the room, practicing. Lex was behind her, catching up.

"This town is in danger!" Falcor said, but then caught himself and lowered his voice. "They are going to attack it, then move on to a different town!" He said, just so the other three people in the room could hear.

*We can't help, we do not have the numbers for a fight. I will send a message to the leaders of the other side, they will send fighters. The most we can do is protect the town, and let the battle occur outside the town limits.*

He took out a quill and paper from his pack, writing a quick message, then folded it into the shape of a hawk. As soon as he was done with the last crease, the paper became an actual hawk.

*Go quickly, and be sure you are not seen or found.*

He launched the hawk out the window, and sat back at the table.

*There, that is all that can be done for now.*
