XinrieArath Saun stood once more, making his claw-clicking way to one of the portals, third one from the right. He tapped it with the end of his muzzle, and quickly redrew it as the image spazzed and tiwtched to morph into the picture of the bas of a tree, with a small tiny old lady who looked to be well over ninty years old in appearance. rushing frantically about the place. The wolf then stepped back slightly, wagging his tail from side to side before stepping right through the portal.

"If my squad leader is a no-show, then what Squad will I join?" He said inquisitivally. He had been here less than five minutes and he already felt like he was home.

"It all depends upon what squads have how many people in it but at the moment it would appear that you would join our newest squad with Forte and Captain. Squad Null already has four people in it."
She rubbed her hands together slightly, it was a bit cold in this room. BUt that might just fell that way because after all the people left, the body heat left as well.

"The current mission if they are not back by then."
She nodded, standing to walk next to the fireplace. She held her index finger up to her mouth and clamped down onto it, drawing blood. She then took the blood and smeared it into an array of three detailed symbols onto the logs of the fireplace. The logs immidiatly went ablaze as soon as she tapped the last symbol with her thumb.
"Much better."

Yamato felt the warmth of the fire. He smiled, but frowned that she lighted it using her blood. He handed her a bandage, hoping that she would wrap her finger.

Eva had been pacing the hallway, pondering the situation. Water made everything more complicated, it always did. They couldn't rely on many means of tracking then, scent and heat would be disrupted. She clicked her teeth impatiently, waiting for an answer to occur to her. The best she could possibly come up with from here was a trap, and baiting such a dangerous child was just asking for trouble. They would have to improvise. Eva gave a little sight of displeasure, and headed back into Ryanna's office. She hated going into situations unprepared.
Once inside the room, she spotted Yamato immediateley. A small smile tugged at the corners of her mouth, causing her scar to twitch. She already liked him a lot more than Tike. "So, I'm guessing you're my second duckling. I'm Suntzu, captain of Phalanx. We've got a mission already, it involves a missing kid. Apparently he or she, I'm not entirely sure on my pronouns yet, can make people her puppets on contact. And your name is...."
((I'm not sure where Cherry is, she last posted before I did...))

"I'm Yamato, it is a pleasure to.... I mean Rookie Yamato reporting for duty ma'am!" He saluted her. "A missing child, I have been on a misson such as this many times before, it is routine." He put his hands to his sides.

Ivy watched as the wolf happily hopped through the shimmering portal. "Well. I guess if the canine can do it without cringing, so can I. Right, Etoile?"
The parakeet atop her head fluttered contentedly as it repeated, "If the canine can do it."
"Right!" Ivy took a deep breath and leapt through the portal, feeling as though she'd been doused with a bucket of cold water. Immediately, she landed on the forest floor, where an elder woman was running about as though she were a chicken with her head cut off. "I... guess that's your cat up in the tree, ma'am? Well. We'll have him down in a jiffy."
With a salute and a smile, she started nailing her hook to the base of the tree. Or tried to. There were so many holes down there... Commander Ryanna hadn't been joking.

"Well. Work around it, then." Before Captain Knox could get in a word inch wise, she took two of the tethers, threw it around the other side of the tree, grabbed both ends and began pulling herself, inch by inch toward the nearest branch that would support her weight. "Don't try to follow yet. If I skid down, I'm going to land straight on your face." That would probably get her in trouble for insubordination later... Oh well. She lived a good life.
She panted. This was so primitive, but it was better than nothing. "Just be ready to catch the cat."
