We're semi-playing Mordheim in my area atm, my orcs being one of the toughest warbands as usual (T5, 2W, resilient and stuff on one orc, a real tank!), but I'm putting them aside now to make myself some Reiklanders, all wearing nice militairy clothing~<3

I'll be fielding Pirates on Monday.
My list looks like this:
The Seven Deadly Sins
Heroes: Captain Lust - Sword, Dueling Pistol, Toughened Leathers 1st Mate Pride - Sword, Pistol, Toughened Leathers 2nd Mate Wrath - Sword, Pistol, Toughened Leathers Cabin Boy Greed - Sword, Pistol, Toughened Leathers Cabin Boy Gluttony - Sword, Pistol, Toughened Leathers
Henchmen: Gunner Sloth - Swivel Gun, Pistol, Toughened Leathers, Ballshot, Grapeshot Gunner Envy - Sword, Blunderbuss, Pistol, Toughened Leathers
495 GC spent, 5 GC in the stash (in case you're curious as to how I afford all this; we play with the Misfire rules, so I'm getting the 20% discount on blackpowder items)
Two separate gunners both because the rules require it and because I want one of them to Lad so I can have a hero manning the Swivel Gun. If necessary, I'll buy more gunners. I'll also be picking up Parrots for my Mates and Captain ASAP, and adding in some Boatswains.

Lady Blodwynn I came in second with my crap list. surprised Out of curiosity, did you play using the optional rules and critical hit tables?

Just the crit tables? That's part of it then. Didn't realize it till I started playing again that the misfire results were optional. Handguns lose quite a bit of their suck when they don't have a 1/6 chance of being rendered useless for the shot/next couple rounds/forever.
who were the other players in the campaign?

So we've started again, and my warband continued it's abysmal starting record: Once again, my Captain died in the first game. I rebooted for game 2, but my luck was bad all around that day. I lost a Mate and had to spend most of my income replacing him. On top of that, I had a ridiculous number of misfires. Of 7 shots I fired during the first game, I had 5 misfires. In the second game I had 3 misfires out of 5 shots, one of which was my swivel gun exploding. I had the choice of replacing my Swivel Gun or replacing my Mate. I figured it would do better to have another hero.

Hmm, maybe it is a sign that you shouldn't use blackpowder, or you should stoop low and get loaded dice instead.

Nah, I know powder is sub-par when it misfires, but I love me my pistols and swivel gun. My subsequent games have gone a little better, though my blunderbuss continues to fail me. Never got a shot off in the first two games, in game 3 he caught 10 models, and rolled ones to wound them all...except the vampire, which he rolled a 3 on. Game four he had a beautiful shot that would have nailed 12 models, and the blunderbuss exploded in his hands.

So, we're starting a new Mordheim campaign locally, and I'm getting a bit tired of my Pirates - they're awesome and all, but they're improperly based, and at some point my swivel gun explodes and takes out the gunner-hero, and my captain always seems to die. However, since the last campaign, I've started a Wood Elf army, so I'm thinking I'd like to run Wood Elves in Mordheim. I'm using the experimental rules that are up on Mordheimer to build the warband. Deepwood Snipers - 500 gc Asrai Wayfarer Band Heroes: Way Warden - Gladewood Bow, Sword, Thornblade, Deerhide Armor Spellwalker - Thornblade, Dagger Wild Hunter - Gladewood Bow, Sword, Thornblade, Forest Familiar, Falcon, Deerhide Armor Pathfinder - Gladewood Bow, Thornblade, Dagger, Deerhide Armor Pathfinder - Gladewood Bow, Thornblade, Dagger, Deerhide Armor No henchmen, taking advantage of the ability to get some items without rare rolls from the start - 2/5 of my gold is on expensive rare items. I plan to take potshots and voluntarily lose early for the first game or two to get the gold needed to buy up some henchmen. Any comments on the list, or on the warband rules themselves? I was wondering if anyone had any experience playing with or against the Wood Elves as presented on Mordheimer.

Bottling out early is something that is a suggested strategy for some warbands when they first start out. You are somewhat low on bodies for your warband, though my guess is that those fancy bows they carry do quite a bit of damage. Not to mention that they all carry armour, which is always very expensive. talk2hand

I'll pretty much play as if I am totally uninterested in the objective, and hide alot. The Wild Hunter needs to survive and stay in play. The falcon he carries lets him add or subtract 1 from an exploration die, so I can use him to set up some good results on the exploration chart. With only 5 heroes and nothing else to start with, I should make a pretty good chunk of change selling my first batch of Wyrdstone.
Gladewood bows are longbows that are S4 if in short range and you haven't moved. May be combined with Nimble to move and fire S4 shots. They're good, but probably not worth the 40 gc I'm paying for each one. I'm picking them up now though to get a discount and avoid the rare roll later.
And Deerhide Armor is just Toughened Leathers by another name - 5gc, 6+ save, can't be combined with anything but a buckler or helmet.

If you are going to avoid your opponents as much as possible early on you're not in for great games. confused

We play 4-7 way games around here - one person not trying their hardest isn't going to ruin the game for anyone. My objective is to gain XP and have all of my heroes survive the first battle so they can hire some henchmen - once I have a henchman or two I'll start mixing it up more.
