Kara smiled and nodded as she set Miyu down on the bed, pulling the little girl out of her dress so she could just wear her shift. She was going to have to do something about clothes though if the two were going to stay with them that week. Maybe she could ask for cloth... old cloth after all Seconds didn't take that much clothing space.

She turned to make sure Donovan was still facing the corner before getting changed herself.

The night passed slowly, and in the middle of the night the outside door slipped open and closed silently, and a shadow moved into the house.

In the blackness, it was invisible and silent ... but when the sun rose and morning came, it was Serenity who was lying on the couch, sleeping.

Though the years had been kind to Ulani and Ulrich, they had not been so kind to Serenity. The constant stress she lived under had changed her ... not nearly so much as humans, of course, but though she was still very young - not even forty years old, still young in human terms ... she actually appeared ... almost old.

Not that she was wrinkly or had silver hair or anything ... but there was just something about her that showed how stressful her life was.

Serenity's elvish hearing was immediately aware of the footsteps and the sound of a door opening, and she was instantly alert. She sat up on the couch and crossed her legs silently, waiting to see who would show and from what direction.

Hoping it would be anyone but Ruel.

Such a horrible thought, the thought passed through her mind ... No one should have to fear their own son so.

Serenity was astonished to see the tiny angel wandering around the house. Where had she come from? How had she gotten here? Who was she? Was she with anyone?

But gosh she was cute! Shy little thing ...

Serenity smiled and, careful not to make any sudden movements that might scare the child, uncrossed her legs and leaned forward slightly.

"Good morning, little one," she cooed softly, her voice light and pleasant. "Where did you come from? What's your name?"

"Eep...."

Miyu blinked, it was such a nice voice, like the one her grandmother used when her and her brother were born. She supposed her daddy would have too, but her daddy didn't talk. She skittered forward, paused a bit and skittered forward again until she was much closer to Serenity, next to her leg. Which forced her to look all the way up, as she put a finger to her lips.


She made a small mi sound looking up with wide eyes.

Skye followed the hall and wandered into the livingroom obliviously, peeking into the kitchen and then wandering behind the couch nearest it without looking into the livingroom itself first.

Her wing was starting to bother her ...

Serenity picked up the girl gently, careful not to move too quickly, and set her on her lap. She smiled softly, kindly, and ran one finger along the top of the child's wings.

"You're an angel," she murmured quietly. "That means there's someone from Gaia here ..."
