Nero laughed and pointed at Inori. "Good one." He said, grinning. He turned to the shopkeeper and politely asked for another bowl, to which he gladly obliged, giving him another bowl of ramen.
Nero began to devour the ramen, taking it in smoothly, breathing through his nose as he ate. He stopped for a moment to take a sip of his beverage, before continuing. It was as spicy as before, which wasn't exactly good or bad, but it was warmer, and more pleasing to eat, so he continued to eat.

Did he mention how absolutely sublime a substance water was? And no, by such a thought, he had not finally lost his mind. Granted, usually Inori preferred the more elaborate kind of drinks, from gaseous sodas of all types, or the tangier or sweeter types of drinks... Never plain water. But at this moment, just as his mother had so often said, water was indeed the only source of divine bliss. Again, he wasn't praising water onto the same level of idolatry... Be it Leviathan or whatever the heck Kiri worshipped. (To note that of which he didn't particularly care.) Thanks to the soothing chill, he was able to notably feel his tongue again and continue with the rest of this assignment from hell.
If he didn't know better, he'll even say Nero personally conspired with the owner of this stand. But as it was impossible (or he at least supposed from the shop master's sort of greeting to the both of them), such an accusation would be unfairly biased at best. So very sulkily he continued to tackle his two half-emptied bowls of ramen. And he was attempting to be optimistic, yes. Here indeed is one case where "half full" would be sorely depressing.

Nero looked out to the streets. It was night, but there were still people walking. Nero looked out into the darkness and saw people, it reassured him about whatever Taka wanted them to do. He remembered it being a basic request, but couldn't remember exactly what the request was.. He sighed, and continued to eat his ramen.
"Inori...how's my super spicy ramen treating ya? That'll teach you to steal my food again." Nero said tauntingly, taking his head away from his bowl of ramen as he said it, quickly digging back in when he was done with his statement.

He wasn't crying. No indeed, he wasn't. A speck of dust just got into his eye. Well, both eyes and lots of dust. He wasn't being affected by a stupid bowl of wrongly made ramen. If he had it his way, if it wasn't for the ever-cheerful beaming smile of the shopkeeper, he would point out and perhaps even show what a real ramen recipe was supposed to go. This monstrosity that was called cooking... The great chefs on television would duly cry. In a way, he was beginning to feel tingling strands of pity for the shinobi order. They must've never known what truly godly cooking was like. Now, his mother's food, that was another story save the one time she gave him extra sharp-headed chilis to chase away his cold. And of course, he didn't grudge her or anything.
He wondered if he could give Nero back the other's bowl. But then the shop master already gave the Fubuki a new bowl, and so, Inori was sadly pretty much stuck with this one. Normally, his orderly functional brain would complain that wasn't a very hygienic on-the-spur-of-the-moment decision but Inori squashed the voice of reason swiftly in his head. No need for snide comments from the peanut gallery as if life wasn't surely miserable enough.

"Grawphh...water!!!"
Such words were accentuated by a rapidly pounding palm of the hand on the wooden table. Sure, he was acting like a spoiled brat, but it was no time to worry about appearances for now. His eyes were certainly puffy with redness, courtesy of this being probably the stupidest thing he has ever done in his life. Fortunately, Shippo did bring a large jug, of which Inori almost stood up to gratefully accept with an overly-eager embrace. He pulled out the cork with more strength then usual (they did say desperate times come complement with desperate measures) and holding up the jug, began to drain it. He really needed assurance right now that he hadn't lost either his tongue, or most importantly, damaged the taste buds.
What if in the future he couldn't taste anything else because this stupid venture damaged his taste buds? That'll be terrible! He had yet to savor every type of existing ice cream across the nations or cream sodas. Even though the large jug of water the shop master gave him was hardly close to chilled, at the precise moment Inori didn't care. He didn't even seem to notice as his stomach protested also the torrent of water washing down.

"Inori...are you....crying? Seriously? It's just ramen. What kind of swordsman cries? Ever? Any good swordsman anyways...because there's always you." Nero said, tauntingly. It wasn't very thoughtful, but it was funny. Smiling, he went back to his bowl of steaming hot ramen.
"So...you gonna stop being a baby? Or do I have to finish that bowl when I'm done with mine?" Nero said, laughing. The shopkeeper smiled, amused by the two boys.

At long last, Inori tore the jug of water from his lips, but that was more because somewhere along the line of the rapid drinking, he had begun choking. One hand set the jug down, as the other hand rapidly patted his chestbone. With the slight fit of light coughing, he felt his voicebox recovering with the soothing wash of liquid - real liquid! - from before. But it was certainly still quite a disgusting feeling at best, and grimly, Inori took to wiping the dribbles of water from his mouth, dab at his tearing eyes, and then dry his nose with what remained of the small mound of tissues he had obtained earlier. With a grumpy frown, he picked up where the cork had rolled to when he popped it from the jug earlier. It had fallen next to the bench, so this was solved by a easy swing aside to grab it.
His glare then fixated on the two half-bowls, neither of which he was making due progress to finishing. He decided to ignore Nero for now, who was being an absolute prat, and picked up the bowl he stole from the other again. Whatever, he'll get even later when they brush through the Academy curriculum. He was not going to fall for the same bait twice.

He was not affected at all by the other's taunts. Absolutely not at all. Yes, that's right... The other's taunts were falling on death ears. Ears that seemed to twitch. A vein appeared closer to visibility on Inori's forehead, and slowly he was lowering the deadly ramen bowl. Yet, astonishingly enough, he was still smiling sweetly. It could've been quite a lovely expression with his delicate, even even somewhat feminine features but yet the fanged grin promised pain. As Inori adored vegetables often as a child, his canines were quite visibly conspicuous.
"Don't make me hurl this bowl at your grinning face." Came the threat, even if it was so sweetly and innocently said. Then, Inori returned to glaring at the bowl. He didn't drink anymore of it, but merely swished the bowl around with half-circular motions, furiously wishing the miso and noodles inside can drain out of existence, as the water in the toilet or sink drain would do. Yet alas, that was being far too hopeful indeed.

Perhaps if he just shut his eyes, drain the soup from hell, and think of happy thoughts he can finish the rest of what's left in the bowl easier. There was only one unfortunate flaw with that plan, it was harder to put into action then goes the logical thought. A part of him soothed that maybe there was some credibility to Nero's words... Dinner even was oddly enough turning to be training. Granted, he might not be very happy with this type of discipline, but he supposed it was also logical that a shinobi must make very valuable use of every second on the clock. Therefore, he must tolerate, and see this through to the end.
Whatever. Logic can go burn in the fiery depths of hell, which Inori was almost quite certain would be the spiciest ramen soup in existence. There was no elaborate burning lakes for him in the afterlife, nope, not at all. Besides, Nero might merely be only numbing his own capability to taste for the moment to tolerate so many bowls of this... Stuff. He won't even give it the proper credit deserved to ramen, nevertheless to real food.

Indeed, just as he thought, that plan surely rather quickly burned. With a roll of his eyes, Inori set the bowl aside, and holding up the jar, began to drain the water that was left in there again. It came as a torrential downpour, unrestrained because the neck of the jug wasn't quite made for drinking like those sake jugs he often sees in restaurants. The collar of his shirt therefore was quite quickly soaked, the dark red color of his shirt darkening even more as the liquid spread through the weaving of threads. Since he had purposefully chosen a shirt a size too big, the weight of water crumpled it a bit closer to his small frame. With annoyance, Inori stopped his mission to soothe his burning tongue to tug a little at his clothing. Who knew even simple clothing can turn out to be such a pain? He was glad at least that stranger was leaving them alone, as by now Inori was hardly in any amicable mood.
Perhaps there was some creditability also to that eating spicy foods makes one worse tempered. Look at Nero, he seemed almost quite different from the meek child back at the library. The other even expressed being glad that stupid-principal wasn't here. And speaking of stranger one, if this stranger two talked to him a second time Inori probably won't even bother listening, and perhaps retort with those very same greeting words Andou endured today.

It was getting late. That, Inori could very easily note from the rapidly darkening skies above. Where it had once been still quite light outside when they first left the library, now there was only a dimming blue to the skies. It was to be evening so soon? At this, a small smile curved his lips. Time sure passed quickly. Pfft. And heck no, it wasn't like he was growing fond of Nero or anything. Spending time with the other just made an otherwise boring (and perhaps very annoying too, with that stalker-principal) day amusing. But Inori still holds true to the potential conspiracy theory. As such a thought flickered past his mind again, his eyes narrowing a little, Inori glanced from the shop keeper's smiling face - Shippo was now attending to more customers - and then back to the Fubuki at his side who was blissfully inhaling noodles.
Inori vaguely wonders if Nero was forgetting to breathe and hopes that the other was being at least aware, because his authorization to do the heimlich maneuver had expired exactly a year and a few months and several days back.

By now he had pretty much stopped eating. He was debating whether it was better or not to just forfeit such a petty challenge. Granted, Inori normally wasn't one to enjoy playing with his food, but at the moment the boy almost boringly teased at the noodles with his chopsticks, wrapping the creations of flour expertly around the tip of the chopsticks and then with another slick movement, freeing it just so enough that he can wrap the noodles another time around the thin wood. With the settling chill that comes with the night air, his food had very quickly lost their steaming quality, and Inori only absently nodded when Shippo offered to heat the bowl he wasn't tending to right now up. A more serene silence had fallen, with Nero concentrating hard on his own food, and Inori in a way also concentrating on his own.
But simply staring at the noodles was not going to make him finish anytime soon, and as the shopkeeper returned with the other bowl with expectant eyes, a softer sigh left Inori's pouting lips. He flicked a strand of now moist golden hair aside, before tucking it behind his ear. Disgusting, he was going to have to wash his hair, he could've sworn the bangs do not feel a very good cut to have now.

Nero laughed at Inori as he poured water all over himself in an attempt to stop the burning sensation. He grinned and continued to eat his Ramen, as it was almost finished. He knew it would be done soon, and he couldn't eat another bowl. He was pretty much stuffed.
It had been a long day, and it was about to continue with the task they were very likely going to do for Taka.
He looked up at the soaked Inori and couldn't help but grin again. "You actually...wow...really? Now you're embarassing me." He said, putting his head into the palm of his hand.
He sighed, close to finishing his ramen.

"Ojii-san?" Called Inori. The old man was at the stove, busy preparing someone else's order of ramen. The deceptively pleasant scent of seafood drifted the way of the long bench, but Inori was not about to be fooled having tasted in reality what this kind of ramen was like. The old man came this way soon enough, holding another bowl of ramen by the tray and delivered it to a kunoichi who sat a few spaces down from Nero. At this, Inori flushed slightly. If even a girl can eat this, then that means he didn't really have a choice. The old man as he was returning back to the stove noticed Inori's intensive gaze, and cheerfully, greeted the boy.
"What would you like lad? More water?"
Inori held up the near emptied jug. "Yes please." He mumbled. But then, holding up the bowl he pilfered from Nero, he also mentioned: "Would you heat this one up too? I really don't like cold noodles." Cold noodles had a certain, well, soggy taste to them. Even while he was sure he won't taste anything anyways, still, Inori was adamant to at least not eat his food cold. His stomach was already protesting, and mother always said that cold food was not quite excellent for the health in abundant amounts.

So they wouldn't listen to reason would they? Taka grinned, oh yay then he got to have some fun. Resting his hand on the table he began to forcus his lightning chakra using the Raiton: Jibashi Technique. Suddenly a burst of lightning, minaly for show as it was actually quite harmless burst out of the table at Inori. All the while Taka answered Nero's question. "Oh I've been a ninja for about 20 years now, so some spicy ramen is nothing to me anymore. Actually I've been meaning to get some ingredients so Shippo here can make something truely challenging to eat." Taka was happy the whole time as though he took a pleasure in shocking Inori. Well it was his punishment for not going to the Academy like he was wupposed to and for not paying Taka enough attntions.
